Nicklas Bendtner’s summer long search for a new club appears to have come to an end with Portuguese publication Correio da Manhã claiming that Sporting Lisbon will unveil the Dane as their latest signing ahead of a friendly match with Valencia on Saturday.
The 23-year-old striker has not featured in any of Arsenal’s pre-season matches with Arsene Wenger happy to allow the player to stay in London and negotiate his move away from the Emirates. Despite reported interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Everton it appears that Sporting have stolen a march on their rivals by laying down suitably enticing terms for the lanky hitman.
Yesterday Bendtner’s father told tipsbladet.dk: “The status right now is that we’ve got a lot to work with. There are bids for Nicklas there, so it’s a luxury. Now we have to find out which club is right.
“Some clubs we can reject right away, others we keep working with. We have a very good cooperation with Arsenal about all this.”
It remains to be see what fee Arsenal will draw from the sale of Bendtner although it is expected to be in the region of £8 million.

Thanks to @gunnerblog for the heads up.
Bendtner’s better than Vela as striker. Shame he has to leave.
Bendtnaaaaarrrr is better than Carlos Velaaaaarrrrr, Ole Gunnar Soljkaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr and Didier Drogbaaaaaaaarrrr
I guess the “many clubs” meant “Sporting Lisboa” then?
Good riddance he was one of the biggest pile of s*** in Arsenal history. He talks the talk saying how great he is, and when he had the chance at the Nou Camp to show what he was made of, he messed up big time. That’s the problem with below average players in the English Premier League, they are on inflated salaries and based on that they think they are world beaters and believe in their own hype. If Bendtner needs a lift to the airport I’ll take him, and even pay for his flight
I’ll read the map Chippie.
The guy wasted stacks of chances. I still remember the game against Burnley when Bendtner had so many opportunities to score he could have got 6 goals easily.
Then there was the CL game against Barca, which we could have won if he had scored the chance he got late on. A top striker, that he thinks he is, would have buried it. Instead he buried our chances of winning the tie. That was proof enough he’s not good enough.
Goodbye, Bendtner. You will not be missed.
hahahaha…. d guy is a complete danish cunt
Bet he misses the plane too…
hahahaha
Hope we’ll sign Mata World Peace now.
See Nick. Mouth better than your feet, but I reckon he’ll do well. Still remember him coming on and scoring with his first touch against Spurs.
I think it’s too easy to be harsh on Bendtner. He came through the ranks, obviously loved Arsenal but in the end realised that he wasn’t good enough to beat Van Persie to a regular starting place. I’d rather have players who believe in themselves than a guy whose confidence is so brittle that he can’t hack critics. I wish him luck. Scored some important goals for us – winner vs Spurs with first touch, last gasp goal away at Hull couple of years back, nice Champions League hattrick. Remember he’s still only 23-years-old and carries the weight of a… Read more »
Obviously he carries the weight of the Danish population’s expectations on his back…not the weight of a Danish pastry.
Mmm…pastry.
Great! Now Wenger need to make this worth it. Add to the squad or GTFO Wenger!
He hasn’t even been sold yet, and you’re already telling Wenger to GTFO.
Btw we DID buy Gervinho you know.
Yeah and soon enough you gonna tell me to “have faith” and such. Nope can not do. gervinho is rather an addition than a replacement. With Bendtner gone we might as well look for more attacking options. Just considering his game for goal ratio and it wouldn’t be stupid to see what we can do. Either way, I rather see a defensive option being added. My point being; Add not subtract!
Alex, you are a twat.
Well said, Sir.
Well said.
Bendtner out, Gervinho in. Good bit of work there I say. It seems people either love or hate B52 – I would say that although he wasn’t a terrible player by any means, he wasn’t good enough for Arsenal – could you imagine him in a United team?
I firmly believe that in the next month, Wenger will make 2 big signings – all we have to do is keep Fabregas around
maybe in Newcastle United or Leeds United…
argonaut, imagine if our ‘savour’ Robin van Persie hadn’t got himself booked in the first half at the Camp Nou so lightly. Then he wouldn’t have been sent off second half.
But yeah, lets blame Bendtner for our crap defence and petulant forward.
Maloney
Both bookings for rvp were farcical from the cheating twat alves to the 1 second gap between whistle and rvp striking the ball. Some of the most biased refereeing you will ever witness that night also. petulant forward and crap defence ? Yeah we had a great chance with 10 men in the camp nou needing to push forward to get a goal. B52s cock up of an utterly glorious chance that could of put us through was criminal
Bendtner is better than Chamakh or Vela but it’s not the in thing to like him.
I genuinely think he is better than Andy Carroll £8mn would sell ourselves way too short for a very good player. I’d happily keep him but it’s beyond that now
He’s not better than Carroll mate, no way. Although I take your point that we should be getting more than 8 mil. I think Bendtner will do well at a club that play their football differently to us.
Difference is Dave that Chamakh is happy to sit on the bench and hasn’t got such a big gob. I agree that Bendter is better and could be even better still – but he needs a change to do so.
What a pity he is leaving, I was becoming a fan of his but when he was constantly played out of position, he was on a hiding to nothing from the start. Poor judgement as far as I am concerned, (a), to play him wide and (b), to let him go.
Great bit of business by the big man AW brought in a consistent performer with until now a good injury record and moved on a player that might or might not make it but that has had consistent injuries it’s a shame he didn’t quite get there but no I’ll feelings towards him I hope he does well! I’m certain there will be a decent sell on clause if he does make it big time as well!!
@Niro – Keep Laker references out of this comment section! Though maybe Ron Artest is the answer at CB…
I thought Bendtner was excellent, but then I am locked up indefinitely in an institute for the criminally insane.
it’s not gonna happen – sporting are now saying he’s to expensive..
I think some of you guys are on acid and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Bendtner priced himself out of a move. He has ridiculous notions of grandeur which I think our club is partly responsible for. Let’s face it we’ve thrown big wages at a player who’s at best above average, that’s when he decides to pick his dummy up and make the effort anyway.
I’m really torn on this one, I think if he was given a sustained run playing more central, he would do better.
But he does have a problem with his ego and thinking he is better than he was.
Good bye & good luck anyway.
Thinking about it (some more) the fact that it’s ‘Sporting’, rather that ‘Bayern’ or ‘Inter’ speaks volumes about how he’s regarded in the footballing world.
He changed his number to 52 cause we paid him 52k per week. He is shite. Lee Chapman was better and he was proper shite.
Lee Chapman was a much better striker…. of Leslie Ash!
Booya!!!
I imagine that if Bendtner had been given the same number of opportunities at centre forward as Chamakh had, he’d have scored more than the Moroccan. I mean, who knows, of course, but the fact remains that Bendtner was played at right wing more than he ever was in the middle, and if people are getting on his case because he missed that one chance at the Nou Camp, consider how seldom he was able to hone his skills in that position. Consider also, whether you’d be crucifying Chamakh in the same way had he missed that opportunity (which he… Read more »
Neither are good enough for the Arsenal in my opinion. We should be buying strikers with exceptional ability not just average strikers. Buying Gervinho who can get in behind defenders is the way forward. When we were winning trophies we had these kind of players (Overmars, Ljungberg, Henry, Anelka..etc) combined with players of technical genius (Pires, Bergkamp, Van Persie..etc) They way we play the game means we need to be able to take players or get past them with a killer pass. We have the passers on the ball in Wiltshire, Van Persie, Ramsey and Fabregas. We don’t have enough… Read more »

First Gallas and now Bendtner. Wenger really has come down hard on players who chew gum during games. I don’t know about you, but I’m behind Wenger on this. Gum chewers are cunts.
