Arsene Wenger has welcomed the confidence shown in him by Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke and agreed with the American that panicking in the face of hardship is not a path he wishes to take.
In an in depth interview with the Daily Telegraph, Kroenke gave his full-backing to Arsene Wenger stating:
“I have tremendous confidence in [Arsène]. He is one of the great managers in the world. Arsène is one of my favourite people I have met in the last 20 years. He is a great person and I love the way he handles himself. He is a very intelligent guy.
“It’s a rocky start but what do people really expect? Maybe it is one of those times when we have to work our way through, maybe with some young players. Arsène has been really good at developing these guys, people like Alex [Oxlade-]Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere. There are some really good players that Arsène thinks can be special. Arsène’s our man.”
Asked for his reaction to the kind words of his new boss, Wenger told press this morning: “There is never a need to panic. Panic doesn’t solve problems.
“I am very grateful that Kroenke has confidence in my ability to sort our problems out. That is not easy to find in football. When you find it, it is a chance for a manager.”

They have built the commercial side. What the Glazers have shown is that it was way under-marketed. The revenue of the club now is huge. That gives you lots of options. I think Arsène historically has been able to build players better than almost anybody. If we can do that and can grow… Read more »
