Arsene Wenger says that Arsenal’s win against Chelsea last weekend was probably the craziest win of the 500 he’s now racked up for the club.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the manager said, “It would be difficult to imagine a crazier one. Because when you are ten minutes to go, 3-2 up and the game finishes 5-3.
“It shows two aspects of the game and our team. First of all that we can score goals away from home and that we have fantastic mental strength because we were 2-1 down just before half-time, they came back to 3-3 and again we managed to win the game, so there’s something in the team that you feel is very interesting and very positive.
“The spirit that the players have shown in that game is something that you can build on.”
Arsenal face West Brom tomorrow and last season’s game was pretty crazy, but for the wrong reasons. The newly promoted, soon to sack their manager, side went 3-0 up as Arsenal’s defensive frailties were exposed, and despite two late Nasri goals the Gunners dropped points they were expected to take.
Arsene doesn’t believe a repeat is likely, however, saying, “That day we didn’t turn up, overall I feel we are in a completely different state of mind now, we have a desire to do well and I’m convinced we will. I think we have made a big improvement in recent weeks.”

‘Fantastic mental strength’ – there it is! How I’ve missed you . . . its been a while!
‘Mental strength’ you’ve come in many avatars, but the good old ‘fantastic mental strength’ has been missing for far too long.
and now we have a captain and striker that gives a shit. fab was great but last year he did not give too hoots about us. plus we have ramsey and soon wiltshere we will have have the gb team at arsenal
Agreed. I refused to believe the whole “Fabregas mind in Catalonia” thing until he threw his hands in the air like he really didn’t care…while standing in the box defending against a Spurs free-kick. And then there was the Bastard Back-heel vs. Barcelona. I was finally sold then.
I reckon the 5-4 against Sp*rs was crazier.
“Mental Strength”. Yeah I knew he’ll say that! Kudos to le Boss though for picking the lads up from our poor start. The team can only get better from this point. Arsenal!
We need the win. We need to go out and crush them.
No more setbacks. COYG.
Our mental strength is strong enough to pole-axe racist, fat, cud chewing chavs as well.
I think you’ll find the 4-4 with newcastle was actually the craziest
Given that it was a draw, I’d agree that it’s one of our crazier wins.
ahahahahaha
Boro at home to equal Forest’s unbeaten run for me. 3-1 down and about to blow it, win 5-3. Madness.
Wow good memory, i had forgotten all about that game!
Although not a victory, losing 0-3 at home to a middlesbrough team struggling against relegation(venables the cunt in charge)
2 own goals, very crazy!!!
It’s about time we gave someone a fuckin good tonking…. Let it start tomorrow I say…
As much as I don’t mind Woy, as he reminds me of an incontinent flatulent old Grandad, I do quite enjoy it when his teams get heavily beaten. His post match interviews are always classic
“I thought we were in contwol of the game, but we were just vewy vewy unlucky”
no, you weren’t Woy. You really weren’t.
Lets just keep the pace going… There is no excuse 4 failure…
