Abou Diaby returns to the Arsenal squad for tomorrow night’s crucial Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund. The French international has yet to play for the Gunners this season having undergone surgery on his troublesome ankle during the summer.
Tomas Rosicky is the only injury worry for Arsene Wenger having pulled up in training with ‘a small thigh strain’.
Arsene Wenger also confirmed that Robin van Persie would start against the Germans tomorrow night as there are no worries over his fitness.
Arsenal would qualify for the knock-out stages with a win and should Marseille fail to beat Greek side Olympiacos the Gunners would top the group.
“Every player and member of staff is conscious that this is a big night for us. We have the desire to win the game”, said Wenger at his pre-game press conference.
Welcome back Abou Diaby!! COYG!!
Can’t wait.
What’s with all this COYG business? surely thats a spurs thing? Do we really want to be doing anything their fans do?!
Their fans breathe air.
I want to breathe air.
ok may be some things
i’d so love to see diaby finally deliver on his promise – the glimpses of what he can do down the years have been tantalising but ultimately only added to a sense of frustration
perhaps he’ll respond to the absence of certain other midfielders and step up
i really hope so
come on, abou
this made my jaw drop. welcome back !!!
Bye Diaby!! Don’t come back soon
Spelling fail!
I was just about to down vote you & then I got it.
Let’s hope so.
Yeah all the negative comments on the Media Centre and following Medical Centre posts just goes to prove that people sometimes look at, but don’t really see and ingest what they are reading.
Haha sorry for down voting you, i have to admit i didn’t get it at first :/
I am a fool I need to read more carefully sorry for down voting you.
A supposedly well-meaning joke gone terribly wrong…
You really can’t blame the ‘thumb-downers’, can you? You see, sir, we are just too cautious of the Media practicing their reverse creativity on us.
But we are certainly proud of the Medical Centre. They fixed our flying Robin!
Would of been nice if you made “Arsenal Medical Center” your name instead, that way at least you’ll get a better ratio of likes to dislikes.
Bye Diaby!! Don’t come back soon!
A couple people somewhat jumping to conclusions there methinks. Made me chuckle.
The difference a name makes eh
Diaby, when fully fit, is quality. I’m just worried that his ankles are so messed up that he can never play more than a few games in a row. Poor chap, he’s such a powerful and skillful player
I’m actually pretty interested in seeing what Diaby can do in a slightly more stable team (point taken that he was one of the reasons why the team was unstable in the first place…), less pressure and a good base could see him fulfill some of his promise, if that surgery sorted his ankle and the new facilities can repeat their trick with keeping RvP operational, pretty big if.
Welcome back Abu. He’s a man with a point to prove for sure, to Wenger, to us and most importantly to himself, I hope he gets to do that soon. Nice to have him back.
Looking forward to tomorrow night at the Grove. Have been looking forward to this one for ages.
Hopefully we’ll give them a schooling in more than defence this time!
Anyone think diaby is our Hargreaves?
hargreaves isn’t fit to lace diaby’s boots.
Ha, Not “Fit” to lace his boots.
Why? did he get injured again
HAHAHAHA SHIT MIDFIELDER, JUST LIKE THE REST OF YOUR SHITTY TEAM.
NONE OF YOUR PLAYERS WOULD GET INTO THE PURS LINEUP.
GET BACK DOWN SOUTH YOU WOOLWICH NOMADS, ONLY ONE TEAM IN NORTH LONDON MUGSS
Is that you, Harry? Glad to see you back after your heart murmur (or should that be twitch?) you old used-car salesman, you.
Oh, and good luck in the Europa League next season as well. If you make it, that is
Surly all our players would love to join PURS, whatever that might be. But in case you mean spuds, then i’d be curious to know why they should be keen to switch? To play their home games in front of 60.000 people in a breathtaking stadium? To play in the Champions league week in week out, and not once in the whole history of the small club? Or because they want to play under on of the most genius and inspiring managers in the history of football? Or maybe just to play in a team that, as every sane supporter… Read more »
Yeah none of the Arsenal players will get in the Sp*rs line-up because none of them would even want to do wear cocks on their chests to begin with.
And lest you forget, a certain Adebawhore who once played for the Arsenal (but was too mercenary for his own good) is currently leading your Sp*rs’ attack so your argument is invalid.
Of course you have to have a gloat about that in November because you know that in May Arsenal will be above Sp*rs
So, fair enough. Enjoy the triumph of being above the better side temporarily.
I suppose you take what you can from it, it certainly puts a gloss of perspective on not having won anything for the last few seasons – at least we’re not in the shadow of a better side like your lot are, and always have been, and always will be.
61, never again
Wow it’s mid november and spuds is above Arsenal in the league! I’d say it’s time for a new DVD!!!
Typical Spurs fan, his small brain can’t comprehend even simple rational thought processes, here COYS let me show you you’re mistakes so that you can apologise like a good little yid: COYS said: “SHITE CLUB, SHITE TEAM, SHITE MANAGER, SHITE FANS, WE ALWAYS OUTSING YOUR SORRY LOT” My retort: – Arsenal have been in the Champions League for the last 14 years. -We have a new ground with a larger capacity than your synagogue, oops sorry, stadium. -We have played some of the most scintillating football the world has ever seen in the past decade. -We have boasted greats of… Read more »
@ ajax
less of the yid bollocks, leave that to the racist pricks who secretly want to be john terry
unless you’re one of those in which case you can fuck right off as well
@the only sam is nelson
Making fun of someone else’s religious beliefs isn’t racism just so you know, but I understand where you’re coming from.
COYS, I apologise for the religious critiques, but you’re still a mouthbreathing idiot.
@ ajax
nice one
it rather looks as if our window licking spuds troll is being kicked into touch by the site admins which is fair enough i suppose given the FULL CAPS idiocy on display
so, back to abou. he’s fucking quality in bursts, would love to see him produce over a season. hope that the quacks have been feeding him whatever they’ve been giving RvP
Hey, don’t they teach you Spuds how to shift from upper case?
WE’RE ON THE UP, YOU LOT ARE IN DECLINE.
OOH TO OH TO BE OH TO BE A- LOSER!
YOUR SORRY LOT HAVEN’T BEATEN US IN LONG TIME
KABOUULLL- AT THE EMOROIDS
WAAALLKEERRR-AT THE LANE
ROOOOOSEE- AT THE LANE
DONT FORGET THAT 5-1 SPANKING TOO.
IN ARSENSE YOU SORRY LOT BUST.
Typical small club attitude. 1. You don’t go on a rival’s site/blog ever. 2. If you find yourself on there somehow, you don’t make irrational comments Anyway, 3. We beat you last year, if that makes you happy. 4-1 at your ‘ground’. 4. Between 1999 and 2010, you never beat us in the league. Home or away. 5. Unlike you, as a gooner, I am humbe, so I shall not resort to name calling and talk about our glorious history beyond what I have just told you. If winning a handful of games over a period of 2 seasons and… Read more »
I would never even consider going on a sp*rs website out of disgust. Your clearly new to football.

Shouldn’t your screen name be COYP? Purs… idiot. You don’t even know the name of your own team. Typical Sp*rs fan. Last time I heard your team were desperate to get out of North London. Probably cos you can’t stand the heat. Much easier to be the best team in East London. Off you trot. Last time I checked we had the best striker in the league, and you didn’t. We also had a young and brilliant goalkeeper. You have fat old Friedel who’s about to collapse on the pitch, Heurelho Gomes and some Chelsea reject. You also have a… Read more »
Definately for sure once you cheat your way into the Olympic stadium. You can’t even spell the name of your own bunch of muppets right.. Purs ?! What as in pussies ?
Don’t think the move to the Olympic Stadium is going to happen.
London has won the World Athletics Championship for 2017 and will use the stadium.
This means that for the foreseeable future the stadium will retain the athletics track.
Yeah but thats not to stop me from calling them cheats in regard to it though lol.
Quite a big game to consider bringing him back in for. I hope he does well.
“It’s like a new signing”…
He’s just given away his secret forbidden crush on our sexy club! Why else would the purssy be on here.I myself couldn’t even bring myself to type T******* or S**** into my web browser
Don’t think he ever nailed down his preferred position, but think his best games were playing in a deeper midfield role with license to support on the counterattack, not many better at covering 70 yards quickly with seemingly little effort, could be quality to step in and give Song / Arteta a break every now and them, damn imagine if Wilshere was also fit, splitting headache for Arsene, but bet he’d love it!
Always saw Diaby as more of an Attacking Midfielder, his natural position.
I guess you’d know! 😉 Just think once the game slows down he’s not as fleet of foot as top quality creative midfielders (remember how many times he lost the ball versus Barcelona at the Nou Camp last year), and is better off leaving the cute final ball to the likes of Rambo / Song and of course wide players / RVP. Once play breaks down though he’s great at covering the turf, his goal at Blackpool last year a great example…..anyways happy to be proven wrong sure Wenger will play him to his strengths.
This couldn’t of happened at a better time. With all the fixtures in december coming up and the need to rotate all I can say is WELCOME BACK ABOU DIABY. I really hope he can show his promise because in his day he is an exceptional talent. If it weren’t for the prick who now works in a call centre Dan Smith am sure Diaby would be one of the major talents in Europe.
tbh, can’t say I missed him that much…
But I hope he comes back and proves it wrong 😉
I am worried Diaby will totally overshadow RVP and then we’ll get tagged as a one man team by the media.
It would be great if Diarby could just stay fit for a few months. He definitely has ability and if he could avoid injury he might be a useful addition to our midfield.
Subject change: Van Persie must play tomorow, right? Any stupid idea that Wenger might have of resting him for the Fulham must be forgotten. We need to not only qualify but to win the group if we are going to avoid another early meeting with our Catalan friends.
After slipping up last time, only a win will do tomorrow.
He’s already said RVP will play, so no stupid idea from Arsene.
But yeh, totally agree with you.
good… i hear dortmund are vulnerable against players who turn the ball over a lot.
Totally irrelevant! all i care now is cant believe we actually have the same points as Chelsea?????? Is there sumfyn wrong with the table? We’re supposed to be in crisis.
Heard Samri is the happiest man on earth making his own pitch in his bedroom and playing with the money rolled up as a soccer ball and how did “mancilona” lose to Napoli?
The other one seems very boydisunited.
Whats the point? #wenger is a genius
Diaby… What could have been… Oh well, never too late.
Off topic… When did calling a spud a yid become racist? FFS they proudly call themselves the yids!
They also call themselves a good team and nobody with a bit of brain would call them good. And think of all the jewish people who understand something about football, they must be very annoyed that such a sorry club claims to have something to do with their religion
[…] has already done a pretty detailed one! Feel free to give it a read here. Perhaps surprisingly, Abou Diaby has joined up with the squad to replace Tomas Rosicky who has a slight knock. I remember saying yesterday that Rosicky didn’t […]
Diaby? Who is this player and when did we sign him?
All silliness aside, its nice to have another player back, challenging for a first-team place and contributing to the team for the remainder of the season. However, due to Diaby’s injury record, I see him moving on in the summer if he cannot make a sustained run in the team and a contribution this season.
As said above good to get another squad player back, however the quality is not there in this kid, ship him out, if hes not injured he is dribbling into dead ends and scoring own goals.
