It’s been quite some time since Arsenal have raided Luton Town’s Academy…fifteen years in fact. After moves for the talismanic John Hartson in 1995 and the legendary Matthew Upson in 1997 a third Hatter has become a Gunner with the news that Tarum Dawkins is set to move to N5.
What do you mean you’ve never heard of him? Shame on you! Turns out Tarum is something of a wing wizard and according to the official Luton website was wanted by 14 Premier League clubs before he decided to sign on at the Emirates.
The only problem for Gunners fans hoping for a glimpse of the new acquisition is that he’s only 16-years-old so, in all likelihood, won’t be seeing any first team action in the near future.
Here’s what Luton’s head of youth development, Gregg Broughton, has to say on his protégé and the manner in which Arsenal have conducted themselves in negotiations over the course of the last few months.
“He is very quick both with and without the football, can play off both feet and therefore he will fit in very well with Arsenal’s style of play,” he told Lutontown.co.uk
“Playing on either wing he is capable of beating full backs on both the inside and outside making him very difficult to play against.
“We never like to lose talented players from the club, but after sitting down with Tarum and his family last month we recognised that he was desperate to join Arsenal, and as I have said before, if players are unsettled and wish to look elsewhere, and the deal is right for all parties, then it is the most sensible way to progress.
“We would like to thank Arsenal for the professional manner in which they have conducted themselves and wish Tarum the very best for his ongoing career.”
Luton currently play in the fifth tier of English football in the Conference National division; an intriguing state of affairs given the success they enjoyed the late eighties making Gus Caesar play like Gus Caesar in the 1988 League Cup final.
For all you mentalists who make their mind up about players based on YouTube clips, here’s a video of some boys playing in the park. Apparently one of them is Dawkins.
You can never have too many young wingers 😉
Based on that YouTube video and FM 2048 he’s going to be a real star. Similar playing style to Viera but with more pace. A hybrid version of Thierry and Shaqueel Van Persie.
That’s not really saying a lot. Everyone knows that Shaqueel van Persie is past it these days.

Ever since his glory days (above), he’s gone downhill. He should retire already.
Jesus. He’s huge.
Yeah Jesus is Huge and he saves
…but RvP pops up and scores from the rebound
Could be the next Luke Freeman!
I think we’re set at winger for a long while
Why don’t Arsenal keep a bottle of Bergkamp sperm in a little bottle and impregnate players wives so we can breed a superteam of young talent. Just a thought.
…because that would be a bit creepy?
Look, do you want ethical transfer policy, or do you want trophies!
Bring the Bergkum!
Also, it is not a nice thought thinking of Bergkam sitting in a room at the Grove having a wank to bottle a small bottle with his holly sperms holding a porn mag in his hand.
PLEASE……
How do you get a bottle in a little bottle?
Jesus, I’m getting a ‘Boys from Brazil’ vibe from your post mate !
Sounds like Chelsea beat you to that with the John Terry “project”.
The player’s wives? Who are you? John Terry?
You could add some David Seaman semen into the mix
No Cygan sperms????? We could get a right footed one….
Oh wait!!!!
I seem to remember a 16 year old called Cesc something or the other playing for us once!
Reckon he’ll make the Euro squad??
strange he look like wenger 😀
Don’t forget, in 2001 we got Jack Wilshere from Luton Town academy (at 9 years old!)
Future LANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just hope we don’t sign an old winger that around 23/24 year as it might kill the boy.
With any young player its a gamble so you take loads of chances many wont make it but some will that the reality.
I happy for one the club is addressing the lack of wingers in the youth system the the last few years we have tonnes of centre midfielders but with this lad arrival, Oxlade, Ryo, Bellerin, Gnaby and Jeffrey there are many talented propects on the books and that can only be a good thing.
And Wellington silva
It pleases me that a lot of young starlets are keen to join the club – which given our track record of promoting youth in recent times isn’t that surprising.
Saying that though, it’s pretty much just us , West Ham and the Mancs (of the Yanited variety) at the moment that are the best places for an up and coming youngster to develop. Chelski and Citeh by contrast are probably the best places to flush an early professional football career down the toilet.
Agreed and Piers Morgan is a twat.
I don’t think we will sign hazard now we have 5 up and coming wingers.
Gotta love Gus though
He’ll be a real asset for Stevenage Borough in five years time.
Thats number 72 and need I say it is a terrible move: it will kill Shaqeel Van Persie and Wishere Junior.
Perhaps we should seriously consider signing some who will actually kill denilson, Almunia, the best striker that evar lived and squillachi, we can then pocket the insurance money…..all £63 of it.
it’s strange that throught the season i was not able to digest the fact that we had lost cesc to those cunts and since last week’s sp**s thrashing in a way i stopped having that feeling.not to mention he is still a legend according to me.
[…] start with a signing! We’re signed Tarum Dawkins! “Who?” I hear you ask. Read all about it. It’s not surprising, because I believe I’m right in saying that he’s been […]
He’s huge for a winger, would imagine he’s going to play more centrally, either up front or in the middle of the park. He’s built like diaby, is that a good thing!!!!
We should be grabbing DNA samples of RVP while he’s still under contract, too.
Just in case, you know…
Bring them on, hope they last long enough to play for us though.
