Gibbs & Jenkinson give full-backing to atmosphere on and off the pitch

Without a game until Wednesday, Arsenal’s young full-backs Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs have taken it in turns to reflect on the atmosphere in and around the Emirates after a recent run of wins which has propelled the club back into the top four.

Speaking about the relationships being forged both on and off the pitch, summer signing Jenkinson first touched on squad camaraderie, stressing that there are no divisions in the dressing-room at London Colney.

“I have only been at Charlton before, but the team spirit here is fantastic,” he told Arsenal Player.

“Everyone gets on, which is quite rare in football. Often you have cliques of people or people who argue all the time, but we all get on well here.

“That is a big thing and it boosts the morale of the team. We are all friends, which helps on the pitch because you have that faith and trust in one another.”

The solidarity shown by the players has been echoed on the terraces where supporters have produced a vibrant atmosphere at recent home games. Speaking about the victories recorded against Spurs, Milan and Newcastle and the confidence garnered from such vociferous backing, Kieran Gibbs continued:

“You can see how much it means to the fans and we need to continue that now to keep the atmosphere going,” he told Arsenal.com.

“When the Emirates is like that, other teams can’t play because it is too difficult. We feel like we have a lot more power when the atmosphere is kicking like that.

“It’s just been a great turnaround. We took a lot of stick a few weeks back, especially after the defeats in Milan and the FA Cup, but everyone has come together and shown a real [resolve] to turn the season around.”

Not that i’m one to start singing on my own when i go to the Emirates, but i do love the fact that our stadium can become quite the wall of sounds that is not really common at big capacity stadiums. The Highbury library may just be starting to turn into one fucking loud library!

I hope he stays fit. My back hurts when I watch him on those incredible runs down the right.
Dangerous player. I’m glad he’s ours.

The [ Highbury ] Library where the sign reads straight from the Radiohead song title :- ‘ Stop whispering, START SHOUTING ! ” Anyway, it’s good to hear that even players who have been sidelined for a while are feeling part of the team proper. That is a good sign and one I am proud to tell people if asked. It has all the hallmarks of a club on it’s way to going places. With key players staying in the summer, a few savvy additions, this team will show the Premiership just what it has been missing over the last… Read more »

I have not been on arseblog for long and there’s this word which always seems to find itself in the user comments. can anybody enlighten me? i seem to be missing a great deal of humour. and the word: LANS

Aamir

Here are some Arseblog terms that even my best friend (Chelsea fan) utilizes regularly
DBTR- Diving Bucktoothed Racist. (Luis Suarez)
LANS-Like a New Signing
ALANS- Almost Like A New Signing both are common phrases from Arsene Wenger that usually piss us off because the injured players aren’t usually like new signings.
TGSTEL- The Greatest Strikooor That Eva Lived (Niklas Bendtner)
Water Sheringham- Dolphin
Mugsmashers- Liverpool
Demento-Sir Alex Ferguson
Shrek/Granny Shagger-Wayne Rooney
and the word cunt and its synonyms.
Most common synonym of the word cunt is- John Terry.

goldcannongoonerbang

thanks mate! now am laughing my way to sleep!

Mr. Eboue Armann Yes

Taggart – Alex Ferguson
Gollum – David Moyes
Chimpface – Diving Bale

Here's Waldo

Don’t forget mr. Twich – ‘Arry Redknob

Joe

Goldcannon – press alt and f4 together and you will see what LANS means

Paulo

I think that with jenk, gibb, coquilen, aneke, ryo, afobe, miquel, frimpong, campbell, silva, ozykup, yenaris, ox and Gnabry. Arsenal future is gaurantee.

Kreame of the Crop

“Like A New Signing” its a cliche Mr. Wenger uses when describing a player coming back from injury, since we don’t really sign many new players typically. Something that can be quite annoying at times but hopefully that is all soon to change this summer.

GoonerNugget

Gotta love Song in this picture. He’s thinking “Fuck yes we scored but I do need a bit of a lie down”

rvp

Any chance we could get a review of all the young players like jenks season so far guys..people like him yennaris…etc? What’s the thoughts of everyone..do they have a long term career at the club

Anon

Better to Ask Jeorgebird on that, he’s superb with coverage of Arsenal’s youth.

Think the general impression I get is that Arsenal would love to keep Yennaris and Jenkinson while they’re okay with Gibbs.

And also keeping Frimpong, Coquelin, Afobe, Gnabry, Lansbury (most probably), Damian Martinez, Campbell, Ryo, Miquel and Bartley too. That’s a big list of names, I really wonder if Arsenal will make many signings 3 seasons from now when these players mature, and they’re making great strides at a lot of places, like Ryo in Bolton, FrimCoq in PL and Gnabry (only 16) at reserve level.

Pearson

Just wait till THIS guy gets going… 10.6 for the 100m

He is going to be SENSATIONAL!

Our squad is going to be huge, I wish it were next season already.

Arsenal > Spurs

I saw this other article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/9149582/Tottenham-must-invest-in-players-like-Eden-Hazard-to-keep-top-four-status-Harry-Redknapp-warns-Daniel-Levy.html) from that article and thought: good ol’ (Agent) ‘Arry – having made Southampton and Portsmouth (especially Portsmouth) broke, he’s going to sink Spurs.

[…] the camp, morale appears to be high. Arseblog News reports on comments from Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson who both have a lot of praise for the solidarity of the club at the present time. Jenkinson […]

SMELLS LIKE TEAM SPIRIT

Rectum Spectrum

Can you imagine walking out to any game, hearing the crowd in song, interrupting to let out a huge, passionate, animal like cheer as the team emerge from the tunnel?? What a charge for the lads. I know they are professionals, but we cant moan about wet lettuce performances when the team walk out to a subdued cheer and atmosphere. They have a job to do on the pitch, we have an important one to do off it, lets try to remember that. Lets welcome them obto the pith like gladiators to tje games

Get well Muamba …

If any of you folks believe in prayer, now’s the time.

Jasonissimo

Must’ve worked. It has been reported he is now stable.

Jasonissimo

Update:

That initial report was premature. Muamba remains in critical care and under anesthesia.

Jasonissimo

So sad. Hoping for the best, but obviously fearing the worst.

springlovin

We love you Muamba get well

Dragonborn

Im getting a bit sick of this back slapping bum licking bollocks.

Well done for winning a few games, now crack on and make it mean something. 3rd would be very good yet the lack of trophies tells its own story.

Anon

Yes, wouldn’t it be nicer if the two started slamming the team for being in 4th place in the first place and not fucking care or show appreciation at all to the fans who sang their hearts out through thick and thin?

Of course, it would be nicer!

SDDutchGooner

Kinda surprised not to see anything related to Muamba, his coming through our youth program and all.

Anon

Kinda feeling that way, but then again we don’t really specialize in youths who have moved away, and it feels rather weird for an Arsenal-specialized news site to cover facts and proceedings with the Muamba thing atm.

Still a hangover of devastation from last night…
