Bendtner seeks move to Champions League club

Nicklas Bendtner says that his future will be decided after the European Championships and that he’s looking for a ‘challenge’ which may see him leave the Premier League.

The Greatest Striker That Ever Lived says that last season he was unwilling to leave England because of his recently born son, but now he’ll consider all options available to him.

“I am ready for new challenges,” he said. “I have heard about concrete interest from other clubs, who sound interesting, but I can’t say more than that right now. After all, I am still under contract with Arsenal, so I have to get back to Arsenal and talk to them first.”

And while he didn’t rule out staying, it’s pretty clear he wants to try his luck elsewhere.

“On the specific matter of staying with Arsenal, I have to say I need something new to happen for me. There is no panic thinking about my future. Now, it’s all about Euro 2012 for Denmark and afterwards I can look at my club future.”

Bendtner believes that he’s got what it takes to play for a Champions League standard club which may restrict his options, but a good showing in Poland and Ukraine would be rather like him opening up The Greatest Shop That Ever Lived then putting himself in The Greatest Shop Window That Ever Lived.

Still, for all his faults, and he does have some (not that TGSTEL would admit it), you have to wonder if he wasn’t such a Billy big-boots what he might have brought to the Arsenal table this season.

I know he wasn’t exactly Mr Popular but he’s far more likely to get you a goal than Chamakh or a player who never plays, and perhaps his impatience, and Arsene’s insistence on playing him as a winger, means we were deprived of a fairly reasonable striking option this season.

On the other hand, I’m quite hungover and can’t think of a pithy way to end this story so I might just

Or TGSTEL could be LANS.

What on earth is LANS?

Runcorn Gooner

Sorry if you are new but you will see this a lot.
Bendtner will not a LANS
Jack will deffo be a LANS
Diaby who knows

damien joyce

runcorn cld also mean who knows Diaby

Runcorn Gooner

Can’t forgive him for that miss in Barcelona

damien joyce

who Henry (2006)????

damien joyce

come on thumbs downers, twas a joke man, i’d never put bendtner in god’s class

Hurley

The way he talks about us is much more disrespectful than anything Na$ri ever said. We brought him through and made him into the player he is today, whereas Na$ri was actually a good player before he came to us. He also made the much more understandable decision to move to another good side where he got paid huge wages, whereas Bendtner just seems to think he should be starting ahead of RVP and is acting pissed off that he isn’t, despite not working hard anywhere he goes!!

Good riddance to you, Bendtner!

Arsene's bottle of water

Second to that.
What he could have brought to the table? Maybe he would’ve missed a handful of sitters and deflected wide a Van Persie winner… or something.

He’s always been a frustration for me. When he blocked that Fabregas’ goal over the line against Liverpool in the CL I went mental, punched walls and broke stuff.
Goodbye Super Nick.

Tenzo

The biggest issue with this guy, aside from his slightly inflated ego, is that he’d consistently play badly for us, and then just as you’ve written him off, and thrown all sorts of profanities at your tv, he’d either score a cracker, or an immensely important goal, thus causing us to jump up and down, and sing his name, while he would celebrate with that smirk that is constantly plastered to his face. Then we’d gain confidence in him, and the cycle would start all over again, with his below par perfomances. It was a vicious circle of gaining then… Read more »

ette

Slightly inflated ego? You could circle the world on his ego. It’s so inflated that it could burst any minute.

Tenzo

Unfortunately, he’s still an Arsenal player, and I cant bring myself to call him the large, expensive, ineffective, self centered, over confident, yet only slightly talented, dillusional, disrespectful asshole he really is. Oh, wait a minute…

ggggggoooooooonnnnnnneerrrrr

we need to find him one worthy of his calibre and skill, which is it bendtner, olympiakos, apoel, shaltar donesk, dinamo zagreb, take your pick, im sure they are all waiting for you to come along and lead them to European dominance

why is my name required

i’ll never forgive him for that blocked goal in the champions league vs Liverpool. i think Cesc was poking it in but all of a sudden TGSTEL was there to stop it. What the fuck was he doing ? It was that which cost us going through to the semi final

Jammathon

I’m also pretty sure that was against Liverpool in the Premiership, not Champions League. Ended 1-1, Cesc scored that great finish off that mazy Hleb dribble down the left. Yup, I collect MOTD video clips. I have no life. Don’t argue.

Arsenal4Life

Actually he did it twice. Indeed he blocked Cesc’s shot of the line in the CL 1/4 final return leg at Emirates. ( Remember in the first leg there was that crazy Wallcot run and assist for Adebayor. Can’t remember the score in either game, though ). And the second time he did it it was at Anfield in the Premiership indeed, as you’ve written it.

For me it was the second leg of Barca Vs Arsenal that made me lose all faith in Bendtner. There, he came on late in the game and was through in the final few minutes. A top striker would have scored. I’m convinced Henry would have buried it. You can bet your house Messi or Tranaldo would have scored. Bentdknob passed it at the keeper. That was his moment to prove to the world he was as good as he said he was. And he fucked it up BIG TIME.

chris

Is that the same Messi who had a easier situation with a penalty he only needed to convert and what happened there. As someone said bellow Henry missed a very similar situation in the champions league final.
He may not be amazing but he’s better than the other strikers we have as a backup and as it shows at Sunderland is that if you play him in his proper position and not as a winger he can put the ball away and play better not his fault he was constantly played out of position.

Sydney Gooner

Chris don’t mention anything about the ’06 CL final it still hurts to this day. I can still remember shedding a tear that morning. For me its more painful than the 07-08 season where we should have won the league.

bonedoc

Oh Nicky, that chance against Barca, if you’d taken it you could have been a legend.

You didn’t, because fundamentally you’re shite.

HR

Henry missed a similar chance in the 2006 Final…

Jammathon

“Henry IS shite.” – Myles Palmer.

TonyS

I remember that chance. I was so sure TH14 would score I was already celebrating. Henry helped out a tiny bit with winning the odd trophy or two so he gets a free pass.

Voldermort

If he can get a club good luck to him, but it won’t be one that’s in the champions league unless we get lumbered with him.
His level is a Sunderland or WBA or the like no disrespect to these clubs.
I have a feeling he’s going to be yet another one we can’t off load because of his wages so think we could be stuck with him. Having said that Ide take him over park or chamakh but doubt he will ever see himself as third choice striker at our or any other club.

Bendtner's Cat

Meeaaoow…

AMURICAH

are you the greatest cat the world has ever seen?

Bendtner's Cat

Purrrrr…

Rob'67

A straight swap with Clint Dempsey.

Probably never happen but Fulham could be good for Bendtner and Dempsey could equally be good for us.

Gunnin'

Ha! A striker who had 8 goals and 5 assists in the premier league for an attacking midfielder who had 17 goals and 6 assists. I’m sure they would be all over that!

two smoking barrels

after all this time this still makes me want to look the other way – RVP red carded for having a strike at goal (eh ref – theres the clue – striker, you…) and TGSTE left one on one with the keeper in the dying seconds at the Nucamp to send us though… and it’s a big F for the great Dane.

TADA

Xav

Love to hear what ego has to say about all this.

Taking The Mik

Hate him if you want, but let’s just take a moment to remember his last minute winner against Hull that got Phil Brown sacked, and his last minute winner against Wolves that sent the Emirates into raptures.

For the record, I still quite like him.

Arsenal4Life

Yep, I remember those, and also remember his hattrick against Porto, but ( for me ) that miss against Cuntcelona and his ‘high’ point against Burnley where he missed about 4 sitters will also not be forgotten. 😉

Xav

Love to hear what “bendtners ego” has to say about all this……”champions league club”, kid yourself much?

Danish Bergkamp

Danish club, FC Nordsjælland could be a Champions League club next season. He’ll fit right in.

Xav

Fc w.t.f ?….anyway yeiy!, bendtner’z got a new club.

wanking thomas

Bendtner’s a fucking magician………..he mysteriously appears! (against liverpool, champions league, ring a bell?). I nearly broke my t.v.

AfrikanGooner

Despite he inconsistency I’m one gooner who still believe Bendtner could have made a slight difference on our league position this season. He is not prolific but he gets himself into goal scoring positions better than our current alternatives to RvP, I must say he possesses a striker’s instinct. RvP himself missed some costly chances this season which to some extent defined our season eg AC Milan, MU penalty and most recently Norwich. That being said, I wouldn’t mind him as a third striker but will he?

Lord Teddy Ears

I really dont understand this guy and his massive ego when he could be such a great player. I would like him to disappear somewhere so that I dont have to see him in an our shirt ever again.

Wenger made him what he is and this guy has thrown it in his face so Nick time to go mate wish you the best of luck but you are a massive plonker.

Merlin's Panini

That photo’s great:
Bendtner: But boss! I’m the greatest striker that ever lived!
Wenger: Yes yes. I know, I know (you just keep telling yourself that).

igor stepanovs

even putting his ego to one side, the fact remains that he isn’t good enough for a side that hopes to challenge for the league. even as a squad player. and, as ridiculous as this may sound, an in-form chamakh (don’t forget he was fairly decent when he first started his arsenal career) is actually superior to an in-form TGSTEL. of course, chamakh has been in horrible form this season so TGSTEL (in hindsight) would have been better for us – but i don’t think we can blame the boss for the fact that chamakh has had an absolute ‘mare.

Good Omens

TGSTEL lived for AEL of Cyprus then, many pizza joints around the island so I’m sure he’ll have plenty of opportunity to say – ” Don’t you know who I am ?”. Could have been oh so different Mr Ego, on your way now.

Arseblood

Fact…Bendtner is better than Chamakh, Park, Gervinho and could have made a difference in some of those stupid defeats this season.

Fatgooner

Spot on. It made no sense getting rid of him while signing ‘Mr Invisible’ Park, and keeping ‘I don’t give a toss any more’ Chamakh. Bendtner is a much better player than either of those two, and he could have made a difference in some of those tight games that we lost or drew this season. We had no quality to come off the bench.

Maybe he pissed off everybody at the club so much that Wenger just wanted him out. We’ll probably never know.

TAMCK

It’s far more likely that Wenger knew for a fact he was better than Chamakh and that he he would be far more use to the side getting regular time elsewhere rather than congealing on the bench.

But that’s so obvious, I don’t even need to finish this

AR

It made no sense except, our TGSTEL could very well have demanded equal if not more playing time than RVP. To which knowing how accommodating Wenger can get at times, the appropriate response would have been to be content with quite a few appearances on the flanks and being backup when RVP got injured. To which, knowing TGSTEL, the response would have been I’ll just wait for Barcelona to come for me. Or like you say FG, he might have pissed everyone off…quite capable of that, he seems. So far, I have to say every player that we’ve let go… Read more »

Fact; You. Are. Stupid. Its not a fact that Bendtner is better then Park since you’ve never seen him play, Chamakh was better last season hence starting over bendtner who knows what the situation would be if bednter was benched 90% of the time could be out of form like Cham, finally gervinho is a much better all-round and more versatile. Where do these dumbshits get these opinions or is it just so they can feel more individualistic by disagreeing with people?

Frog

Are you serious mate? Chamakh sucks and park couldn’t even get a spot on the bench. What the fuck are you babbling about?

cj

Finally someone (ilya) with sense. Bendtner better than Gervinho? idiotic. Probably not better than Chamakh, or Ryo for that matter. Clearly not better than Chamberlain, Benayoun, or Arshavin. How many players is that in front of him? Go ahead and add Santos, out-of-position, to the list.

Frog

None of the players you listed with the exception of chamakh play the same position as nick. What do Ryo, yossi, ox and arshavin have to do in a comparison with tgstel? Retards.

tim

Here’s my impressionof bendtner:
yeah after a good game (he thinks) i’m gonna hit the bar and have some drinks to celebrate my perfomance ( which one?,NB52 ANONYMOUS), oh oh oh let’s take my dads car and go crush it somewhere just to show him who’s boss.

Dannyboy

I hope he has a good Euro’s and we get a decent transfer fee for him. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Money in the bank and get rid of a piece of dead wood. I for 1 hope he never plays for us again.

Crispy

Our formation kills second strikers. That and the fact RVP is from a different planet at the moment. In a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 he’d be an asset minus the high opinion of himself .
I for one hopes he has a blinding Euros if only to swell our coffers for players we’ll miss out on 😉

irfan

I dont hate bendtner…but his touch for a professional football player is quite bad…

atid

Walcott rvp podolski gervinho bendtner vela park chamakh murphy arshavin all over 21 so somehow that needs to reduced. there is also chamberlain afobe campbell ryo wellington ansah neita. if the rumours about the reserve team being scrapped are true then there has to be some departures

kiss my arsenal

nik(has no)klas bendtner for the golden boot at the euros!

Fatcunt

This is probably why you guys despise bendtner so much……yes, he gets into good enough scoring positions but his first touch on the ball is absolutely terrible. During his arsenal days, the number of times i went up in the air when he got the ball is countless but i learned to stop myself from doing that as time went by. ( no end product 90% of the time). Get rid of the overpaid pillock i say.

TAMCK

I’m sure going to miss screaming BENDTNAAAAAAAAA!! FFS!!! at my TV.

I love that gay.

Good-Bloke

No-one wants you Nick, because you’re shit!

You should be grateful Sunderland gave you a chance in the fucking first place!!

After trying to whore himself around Europe some more he’ll end up at Spurs, the grave yard of promising footballers and the home of inflated ego’s.

Redsy

Nik .. On the field not bad and if he worked at it could have gone places..

Off field crash daddys car, drop trousers outside night club, key cars in sunderland for kicks.

Hes a fucking moron pissing away his talent.

Not an Arsenal player that I will ever miss.

om

damn, first time I read that I thought it said “Championship”

Stefan Bortkiewicz

I was at the game he scored in the last minute against wolves. Best live football moment of my life. For that he will always have a chance!

chippybrady

If only we could get the best out of NB we would have another top class striker at the club, he has it in him. Truth is though he has never has a consistent run in the team as a centre forward. He had a decent 2009-2010 season with 31 apps (10 as a sub), 12 goals and 7 assists. I hope he has an excellent Euros, come back and starts banging them in next season.

chippybrady

And TAMCK….dont you think the whole “gay’ instead of guy thing has just about worn itself out by now…

Andre's Favorite Gay

hey chippy, dont get all hot under the collar you silly goose, this Andre gag has done so much for gay awareness, its wonderful. you need to relax, come and try my big gay boat ride.

Bunch of damn fucks!. Bendntner is shit!, period. His run when with the ball is so fucking misleading. For example, when he gets the ball on the wing he gives it a surreal touch and its gets you thinking…….”he’s gonna do something special……oh wait it’s bendtner, he’l fuck it up”. So for all you bendtner faithfuls, please find a new religion.

Midfield Corporal

While I don’t think he’s good enough to hold down a regular first team spot, and it’s obvious the guys a fucking moron, it seems a bit harsh to hold the miss against Barca against him. Every striker misses sitters, RVP’s missed a fair few in the past month himself. I remember the run he had in the first XI around the time Ramseys broke his leg, he looked like he could really offer the club something we didn’t have, but the start of the next season he looked lazy and arrogant. I think the goal celebration in the FA… Read more »

Kenyan goon

Surprise surprise, TGSTEL,a player who has been playing in england since he was a teenager is better than chamack, park and gervinho, who have had very little time to adapt…
Say what you want but bendtner is horrible, good riddance i say.
And yes, henry and rvp have missed important chances for us but then how many times have we heard either of them talk themselves up like they are the 2nd coming? With that being said, i’ll never forget what TGSTEL did against barca in the 2nd leg. I get angry just thinking about it…

Goonerific

I don’t mind Bendtner. Think we would have 3rd wrapped up by now if we had him on the bench instead of Park and Chamakh.

As for that miss, as we have said other (far greater) players have also missed important chances in the CL. If he came back next year and worked hard I think he could do a job for us. Don’t think Wenger will give him that chance though.

northerngoon

KenyanGoon, spot on mate. People seem to forget how truly fucking atrocious Bendtner was in front of goal – apart from Orient – because he believed his own bullshit too much

Blogs, you surprise me. You mention and imply that if we’d not been playing him as a winger… Where’s Theo playing again and what’s his preferred position? I’m sorry but I’d rather have Chamakh any day of the week over Bendtner. His attitude was atrocious and he was a truly negative influence on our more impressionable players.

northerngoon

quick amendment seeing as there isn’t an edit button. I re-read your post and it’s not as pro Bendtner as I’d initially thought. Still, the sentiment applies for all the others who think Bendtner would have been our saving grace this season and tragically there are a few who seem to believe that.
