5 – Number of times Fat Sam described Arsenal’s play as ‘brilliant’ in the post match interview.
1 – Very tired soul who cant take all these numbers in! 🙂
make that a 2 🙂
0 The number of new signings this window
Last week I was at a loss for (swear)words but seeing that picture of Walcott and Podolski is pretty much heartening. Oh how Arsenal is playing with my heart.. COYG!
9 – Assists by Podolski in the League this season (career high)¹
7 – Assists by Podolski in the Bundesliga last season (previous career high)
1000s – Number of pundits eating their own bloody words after pointing out that Poldi was a one club man who couldn’t cut it anywhere else when we bought him.
1000s – number of pundits who can’t tell their mouth from their ass and will likely forget what they said earlier this season. it could also be that they would eat them ass-up, ala southpark.
Completely unrelated…but the next Dennis Bergkamp?

Holy hell.
Though as good as the goal was, that was brilliant movement for the assist.
Sign ’em up, Wenger
To be fair to Juan Mata on the assists/key passes ratio, most of his key passes will have gone to Torres.
I was thinking the same thing. So many key passes per assist shows how many chances Torres has wasted. And those are just from Mata! And now Torres’ new haircut? Is he trying to look like the Belgian-BallBoy-Basher?
I am not going to raise my expectations after this amazing game.
It was a GREAT performance, but lets face it West Ham are not our competition —- our competition used to be United, City and Chelsea and now … WB, Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool.
On a side note — I love Podolski!!!!!! I know people say he is sometimes MIA but not water what he is busting his balls all game — giving 100% each game.
We need just one more Podolski and one more Wilshire!!!
Make it one more vermaelen!
Not WB, it was a false position. Where are they now?
Tied with Liverpool, 3pts behind us…
5 – Goal of the Season contenders..
My arsenal was playing last night, i loved it.
1- very happy gooner in nairobi kenya, i wish we went in for wanyama by the way…
Happy that we have won by a huge margin.
But, West Ham set the defensive line very high up, which helped us to tear them apart down the flanks.
To be honest, that was suicidal. None of the top teams also would do that at the Emirates.
We must be happy but should not get overboard, other teams wont give us so much space behind the defense for theo and poldi to run into.
West Ham started playing deep, but after Arsenal got the second, they had no choice but to come out of their shell. The “suicidal high line” didn’t appear until the 3rd Arsenal goal, and yes, Allardyce was stupid for persisting with that tactic. But to be fair, Arsenal did score three goals in just a few minutes, hardly even time to adjust tactically. I also reject this notion that “top clubs” won’t play the same way. If Liverpool are down 2-1 in the 50th minute, they will press to try to win the game the same way that Allardyce did,… Read more »
Then again, does Liverpool really count as a top club anymore?
Cam, Do we count as a big club?
Both arsenal and Liverpool are top clubs and the two finest clubs in England, imo. Arsenal first ofc.
Liverpool are no more a small club than man city are a big club.
[…] limp first half performance followed by a much more determined second half. As I point out in my By the Numbers column, Arsenal have just a +3 goal difference in the first half of their League games this season. […]
bout time we had a win, but this big result may ‘convince’ Wenger to ‘convince’ the fans not to spend big on players.
What exactly is a ‘key pass’ defined as?
A pass which leads to a scoring opportunity?
Yes.
an assist of an assist?
Or is it rather pass that leads to a shot? I’m only curious – if one makes a great through pass toa forward and he, being one on one falls down or dwells too long on a ball and is tackled – is it still key pass due to stats or not?
Last night night was bloody ace. I needed that. A really shit year so far so getting absolutely smashed and seeing those goals fly in at the Emirates… it was great. Amazing what football can do sometimes…..
17,000: Number of times the following chant was repeated behind me last night:
Ohhhhh Big Fat Sam’s a walrus,
He wears a walrus hat,
And when he sees a baby seal he says ‘I’m having that’
Ohhhhh…..
After the first few hundred times it actually gets quite amusing.

On a side note, I can’t help but make a comment on Newcastle and their 100th french signing.
Two faced Pardrew……guess he forgot to look at the passports before signing these players. How times have changed from smirking at the lack of british players at Arsenal to his united nations team. LMAO
What is the celebration that Theo and Podolski are doing? i didnt catch that at all on the box? Is it celebrating theo’s new contract? as in “he signed da ting!” on another note: i put my hand up, yes i am one of Rambo’s biggest critics. When i saw him on the team sheet it made me nervous. But it has truly been a long time since ive seen him play in the middle of the park. But being half welsh (family from cardiff) i think i just knew he had so much more talent then what we had… Read more »
