Kicker.de report that youngster Martin Angha is set to leave the club and sign for Nuremberg.
The Swiss centre-half has been a fixture in the NextGen Series team and was tipped to make a breakthrough at Arsenal. However, the report says that a medical has been arranged and he will sign a 4 year deal with the mid-table Bundesliga side.
Angha made two first team appearances this season, starting the 6-1 Capital One Cup win over Coventry, and coming on as a late substitute in the Champions League against Olympiacos in Greece.
Angha follows fellow Swissers Philippe Senderos and Johan Djourou out of the club, albeit at a much earlier stage of his career.
Arsenal will not receive a fee as his contract expires at the end of June.
Best of luck to him.
Oh noooooooooooo.
Angha’na complain about this.
*coat is on…..on way out*
I think wenger rates miguel much higher then angha.
looks a real player but i’m hopeful that Jernade Meade can make the step up to seniority next term!
He could have achieved so much with that hairdo…sad!!!
He clearly wasn’t liked by his fellow pro’s, i mean come on, surely somebody would have the decency to tell him “seriously?, get it sorted mate”.
Anyway, all the best to him. He also has my thanks for daring to stand in front of a camera with that hair, thus giving me the best laugh i’ve had all day.
Angha’na miss that hair….
Much, much better than Meade. But I guess because Meade is English….
Maybe because Meade is a pint sized left back and Angha is a fairly imposing centre back?
Shame, because I saw him playing in the match at the emirates and he looked better than Bellerin.
Good luck to him.
He did look very good I agree, definately a bit of a shame if its a permanent move as I’m assuming rather than a loan. Down to playing time I suppose, would have loved to see him go to a PL side for a years loan or so then come back to us ala Jack and Szcz. Ah well, can’t keep them all I guess. In terms of departures over the last few years, at least its only one who looked promising to be very good, rather than a more established player who actually IS really good!
I guess as a silver lining it reduces the number of absurd haircuts at the club if nothing else!! Now just to get shot of Gervinho and Chamakh hah! I’ll let Sagna off since he’s actually good enough to get away with looking like a total freak!
Dear Elly,
You suck.
Yours sincerely,
Kolololo.
Sounds crazy but some of these players are just too old.
Angha is nearly 20. If he’s still nowhere near breaking into the first team, we’re right to let him go.
Wish him the best.
That’s not necessarily true. Cleverley only broke into the Utd team when he was 22. I think it’s often a lack of patience that causes players to leave. Ozgyakup is one, and I think Fran Merida has set himself back years by not sticking with Arsenal.
I think one of the issues is that Arsenal give opportunities to players at a much younger age, so if they don’t make it by 21/22 they feel they’re passed it.
cleverly isn’t very good though
When Cleverly was at watford, he was their best player by a mile when he was 20 I think. I know this as i was following Lansbury at that time. Whenever our players go on loan, they do fuckall, with a few exceptions like wilshere and TGSTEL. Many of us rated afobe, aneke,JET etc wayy too highly even before they had done anything worthwhile. I was apprehensive when Merida/Kyle Bartley left. But look at them. They may go on to become better players as they are still young, but would they have been good enough for us in another 3-4… Read more »
Fran Merida’s SISTER has won more trophies than Fran will.
Flashes of talent, but not enough work rate out of him.
That is absurd. Considering he’s a centreback, 20 years are very young, even in these youth-craving times. Look at what age most worldclass centrebacks make their break-through. Don’t know if he is good enough, but to dismiss him now is, well.. utterly absurd.
Having only seen his first team appearances I wasn’t so impressed. Not saying he can’t be a top player but I didn’t expect him to make it at Arsenal because I think you can usually tell very quickly if someone has a realistic chance. It’s 10x harder for defenders to make it at a young age than for midfielders and forwards (something Wenger seems acutely aware of these days) and particularly for CBs (I know he played LB a lot but he looked like a bit of a fish out of water whenever I saw him), but he does look… Read more »
Anyone think we could have done with better Angha management? Anyone?
I’ll get my coat.
I’d say after news that anghas such as this one, a martini is in order…….
*oh the coat is on!*
Heh!
Do, get your coat. From the clothes angha. *Hangs head in shame
why he is excellent player
I also thought he was better than Bellerin in the NextGen game at the Emirates. One of the stand out players in fact.
For fuck sake! Im worried now this could also happen to Gnabry too back to Germany.
Shit no fee? tell you what that is abit fucked up.
I hope Djorou didn’t have a hand in this.
Arsenal will be entitled to a fee as he is under 23 years old, as set by UEFA despite him being out of contract. Will be a lot less, as he is moving abroad, that to another english club due to the short period he’s been at Arsenal.
the fee would be minimal as we’ve only trained him for two years or so.
Djourou is at Hannover.
I see a Haus Partei in his future, but will the Kid take Play with him.
Off.t yet another affair of player and teammate gf at the bridge. John terry would be proud.

Did he come to this decision after a glass of martini? Or was it all out of angha of never featuring for the 1st team
I’m well aware of that arsene.
But you do know that both are swiss and djorou is in the bundesliga where alas! Angha is heading to.
Why don’t you hit the big reply button? Just that you’ve said it yourself that you forget to reply.
If I tell you I did would you believe me?
No! but incredibly enough I did press the reply button.
That picture reminds me. I must watch ‘House Party’ again. Loved that film.
He Didnt Angh-about *jumps through window
Defenders should not be judged at early age, if anyone remember nordtveit, he was let go at 21, he signed for borrusia munchengladach, he is one of their standout players since and was recently very heavily linked with liverpool
And how long do you propose we keep young defenders until the fans fault AW for keeping deadwood at the club?
When contemplating retirement the majority of us seem pre-programmed to only consider the far reaching financial implications of never bringing in an income again! But the fact of the matter is that there are many more things to consider if planning on retiring abroad, not to mention the fact that many retirees overseas pick up odd jobs and part time positions advising and assisting other expatriates with their lives and businesses anyway!:
