Sagna: it’s down to us

Bacary Sagna says that Arsenal are not looking at what Chelsea and Sp*rs are doing, simply concentrating on their own job as the end of the season approaches.

Having moved to within two points of their North London rivals with a game a hand, a top four spot is now in the hands of the Gunners, and the right back wants to make sure it’s achieved.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, he said, “We don’t want to look at other teams. We just want to look at our own team and finish in the top four.

“Winning is really massive. We knew we have to take it game by game and take maximum points. We’re on a good run and we want to keep that going because we still have six weeks to go until the end of the season and we want to qualify for the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has praised the contribution of two-goal Tomas Rosicky, after the Czech’s first Premier League goals of the season won the game against West Brom.

“Tomas has got quality and he’s got a change of rhythm in the middle of the park that makes a difference. The fact that he made a difference here is massive for us.

“Now we have to keep going and keep winning. We have three games at home now so let’s focus on that.”

Arsenal now play three league games before Sp*rs play again and could, if results go their way, open up a 7 point lead. There’d be no crowing about the gap, but it would certainly pile the pressure on Rick Astley’s men.

Chinaman

From now every player should be on a ‘no win no fee’ alert.

shuggietodd

Shame Nasri wasn’t on a ‘no chin – no fee’ deal.

Heh

Once you have ‘no chin’ city becomes your new home.

At arsenal we like chins.

Pedro

That’s the right attitude Bac!

On a side note, I would be gutted if he departs in the summer. Please extend his stay AFC!

Rambo's jungle knife

I hope he doesn’t leave though. He could lend his experience to Jenks and to Bellerin and help in their development. Fingers crossed he won’t do a “No-chin” and “Dutch skunk” act.

El Dave

Totally agree we have to keep Bac to help Jenks on !!!

Heh

I have a sincere poll here:

Would you rather Jovetic or higuain?
For me it’s a no-brainer. Higuain all the way. He would be a great addition, I watch all madrid games I know this.

BillyBatts

Spare us the Champ Manager guff mate.

Heh

Except it isn’t.

Cheesus

well that’s pointless…

Celeb

Rather a keeper and a DM.

Heh

A keeper is definetly on the cards, whether its an understudy to schezzer or a more experienced one, it’s definetly on (curtois, cesar, casilla, reina)

A DM? meh. That’s overrated mate, I feel the modern game is outgrowing that DM shit.

Our striking though needs improvement and my Arsenal DNA right now is yelling GONZALO HIGUAIN!

Parisian Weetabix

Yes, but when you’re 2-1 down against West Brom with 10 men and 20 minutes to go, would you rather throw on a 5’5 Spanish passer or a 6’3 Congolese destroyer to charge around and win headers?

The point is, it’s another option. The modern game changes, and we need to be able to adapt to that.

Henry's Almighty Tallywacker

You’re like a 10 year old who can’t have two video games he’s never played before and is obsessing over both, reading reviews, watching YouTube videos and exciting himself about the prospect of getting one.

Heh

Well i’m not. I’m a grown arse man discussing potential arsenal reinforcements. When it’s time to get all “wordy” I’ll call ya.

J0hnire

I bought jovetic and victor wanyama in my new football manager save hehe Arsene out me in please. ( modern day logic)

shuggietodd

I have no idea who Arsenal will be interested in come the summer. Is Diame of West Ham stilll on the shopping list?

Higuain is obviously a good player, but is there any basis for thinking that there is genuine interest? I’m not being awkward, just genuinely wondering if there’s something which I’ve missed?

Heh

After a superb performance this past week, Higuain was abit coy on where he’ll be playing his footie next season. As long as the speculation linking him away from madrid then i assume we have a chance of nicking him.

Though i’m worried about wenger and spending big, but I think this case calls for it. it will be worth every penny imo.

N/B I think i might be too far off reality but heck……..

IBURNRASCISTS

“for me it’s a no-brainer”….

funny, that.

We’re not getting Lewandowski, we’re not getting Jovetic, and we’re not getting Higuain.
Sorry pal.

Kirk

I make this 100% right. Take each game at a time and all that – I just wish we could start this approach and mentality at the beginning of the season.

Anyway, Norwich and Everton both at home next. Good run of form going. If we carry on with this mentality there’s no reason we should need to look around us. We have a dodgy trip to a rejuvenated Sports Direct Arena and although I’d love to piss on Pardew’s parade, I’d prefer that we didn’t have to rely on three points and/or other results at that stage

W10

Arsenal should focus on each and every game by game…. Just be consistent and don’t lose confidence…
Hala Forza Glory to Arsenal

I remember pre season Sagna was reprimanded for expressing his concern that Arsenal were being left behind by other clubs. He especially refered to the Arsenal contingent winning the Premier league at Manchester City. I wonder how Sagna really feels now knowing another trophyless season is almost over. Meanwhile former team mate Cesc Fabregas scored a hatrick as Barca move toward the la Liga crown again . Back in England another former team mate RVP is poised to become a Premier league winner with Manchester United.

Big Chief from Antarctica

It’s nice to see such professionalism from Bacman, even though we won’t know if he will be with us next year. (Sort it out, already!) Hope he will be. He’s any understudy rightback favorite.

Nognir

Who needs robin when we have BacMan

HitsMan

Bacary Sagna is the perfect right-back and aside from some recent poor form, he’s looking back to his self. Would love for him to stay and continue teaching Jenkinson.

GoonerUP

I tell you what… Why can’t we begin a season like this?!!!!

giorgios karelias

That’s because each off-season we ruin the balance created by the team at around “this” point of the season.

giorgios karelias

For example, to recreate the start of this season in the next one, we should be looking to offload – say – Cazorla and Monreal, and replace them from within, in the form of Iceman and Yennaris. It’s a sure shot. We`d be achieving our peak next April as well. Seen?

Arsene Wenger

I am working on a contract extensions for Bacary, but perhaps we could rip P$G off for him and re-invest the fee we receive?

Nonetheless, resigning Bac is my priority.

Fatgooner

Do you want Bac to RESIGN or RE-SIGN? It’s two different things.

Arsene Wenger

Re-sign. Although I fail to see how I could ‘resign’ him, that would make no sense, given the context of the sentence and the definition of the word.

Fatgooner

You could put a gun to his head and order him to quit.

Arsene Wenger

I’ll answer you when I’ve stopped holding my head in my hands.

argonaut

Just go out and win every game. That’s all.

godonner

Good man sagna don’t worry about anybody else let them worry about us

North Bank Gooner

A top 4 finish is now in our hands. If we do what we need to do, no other team can take it away.

So personally I’ll worry whether its Wanyama, Higuan, Jovetic or Benteke in the summer, and I’ll get behind the Men in red & white already.

COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!!!!!!

bingobongo

got a feeling tottnum are gonner get Rick-rolled =-D

manfredi

spuds are fucked and was overrated all the way. People forgot they had to play all the top teams because the shitsters from SKY spors got a hard on because Spuds beat stoke 1-0 on a last min Gareth bale goal sometime earlier this season. We will be at least 5 points clear of them when season ends.

Spuds are no threat, wasnt last year, hasnt been for the last 150 years.

COYG

CountLeaf

that’s ignorant. that’s the kind of attitude that lets other teams catch up and sometimes even get ahead of us. though sp*ds are cunts, correctamundo, they do have a pretty strong team. just as chelsea. and the differences between those cunts and us are getting thinner and thinner with each every year, apart from cuntishness, in which they will be forever ahead of us, and godspeed.

so let’s remember they’re cunts, but let’s also remember they’re pretty talented bunches of cunts. keep our eyes open and develop year by year.

56 + 21 = 77pts = 3rd place

The one thing Sir Aubergine-Face does better than Arsene Wenger is player rotation. Specificallly concerning Arsenal’s rightback, I got ‘Sagna 3’ on my Arsenal shirt but I adore everything about Jenkinson too. We should approach the beginning of next season ‘knowing’ there’s going to be 60+ matches to play (implies advancing to semi-final or final on all 3 Cup fronts) and there will be months we got two-matches-a-week the entire month (this year January was like that). What sucks being a professional footballer is when you end the season having only made 12 appearances (8 as an 80th-minute substitute, the… Read more »

Arsene Wenger

But rotating religiously could be redundant. If a player is in good form, he should start over his peer. If his form drop or he tires, his peer can shine in his spot and claim a first 11 spot.

North Bank Gooner

After this weeks near choke for the potato boys, AVB was quoted about his love for them, and he wouldnt jump the stinking/sinking ship like their pet primate.

He mumbled incoherently ” were no strangers to love, you know the rules and so do I, total commitments what I’m thinkin of, you wouldnt get this from any other guy ” before he resumed serving Pete Waterman his tea.

I also heard that if you speed up his interviews off MOTD he sounds remarkably like Kylie!!

;D

Naija Gunner

Yeah, let’s pile some horrible pressures on those scumbags, go for the 7 point lead before they starts their perennial collapse.
