After last year’s Olympics put paid to the almost traditional Emirates Cup, the pre-season tournament returns this summer and Arsenal have confirmed the line-up of teams.
FC Porto, Italian side Napoli and Turkish champions Galatasaray will take part in the two day event, which will take place on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th.
The times of the games are as follows:
Saturday, August 3
2pm – Galatasaray v FC Porto.
4.20pm – Arsenal v Napoli
Sunday, August 4
2pm – Napoli v FC Porto
4.20pm – Arsenal v Galatasaray
No ticketing information is available yet.
Certainly not as exciting in my mind but these matches seem to be solid tune-up games and hopefully confidence boosters.
Last year in the emirates cup Thierry came back to his home, this year its Eboue
and Cavani…is this a dream or what? sign him up
Cavani will have moved to bournemouth by that time….sorry bayern munich….
He has just signed for Workington.
The cup will be a good time for Cavani, Hamsik, Kelvin, Drogba, and Schneider to say goodbye to their old teams…jk.
And I certainly prefer our important players participating in friendlies in their backyard instead of flying all over.
Koscienly though does fly all over this days. http://u.goal.com/280500/280531hp2.jpg
Per’s cheeky smile there!
Wow, look at that for commitment and denying the enemy.
“Head the ball? Like fuck will you head the ball in my goalmouth”
And we might get tickets at reasonable price
Thought I might aswell be the one to crack the old joke of this ending our trophy drought…
We won it in 2010 so trophy drought is not as bad as people are making out.
True and we beat Malaysia invitation X1 last season as well…
Pretty exciting if Jackson Martinez, Cavani and Didier are all still at their clubs!
Don’t forget Sneijder and Eboué!
Yes, do not be forgetting me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx-kmhRf2Jk
I used to love Eboue when I wasn’t screaming at him to stay on his fucking feet. His plopping to the ground when anybody came near him was always frustrating, but he did bring something to the team.
Make it 90. Ffs
3 solid teams.. its not a walk over and a good pre-season if the teams are anything like they are this season. hopefully cavani will be in red & white… one wishes!
i remember we played Cologne in a friendly last season i think… Lukas Podolski was wearing an Arsenal shirt at the end of the game, and guess what… he ended up as a Gunner
Could Cavani follow suit? one can only dream…
You saw him in Arsenal shirt maybe because he was playing for Arsenal and even scored two goals.
heh.
He’s talking about the summer before this past one.We played Cologne and Jenko scored that amazing own goal from the halfway line.

Eboue’s coming to town then 😀
Eboue son. Welcome home.
Ebooooouuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Certianly not the world elite, but more than reasonable lineup.
I quite like Napoli, and one cannot stop dreaming this is part of the Cavani buisness.
About the rest: neither Porto, nor Galatasaray did not shame itself in UCL, it could be a pretty hard test and a great opportunity to measure ourself.
this is actually a great line up ,napoli is second to only juve in italy, the best team in portugual and a very good team as their result in europe will show in the last few season, and the best turkish team with their crazy fan and of course eboue
The games are no more than a promotional stroll . No player is gonna go full speed in a non league game.
Eboooooooueeeeeee!!!
I feel very uncomfortable and frankly quite ashamed of the club for inviting Gala. Seriously? After what happened in 2000? Why must it be them out of the hundreds of clubs in various football leagues?
It’s like they don’t even listen to the fans.
Daily mail – Adrian Durham
And no I don’t give a shit about Eboue. People lost their lives that day man.
You gunners make me laugh, I’m a Southampton fan and do like Arsenal (a case of having to because of Walcott and Chambo), but your sheer arrogance never ceases to amaze me. You’re not the world beating team you once were! This is not the early 2000’s anymore! You are not invincible. These teams you have mustered for this tournament will prove a solid challenge. The quality in these teams is pretty exceptional… Zuniga, Inler, Cavani, De Sanctis, Hamsik, Maggio, Melo, Drogba, Sneijder, Yilmaz, Muslera, Inan, Martinez, Rodriguez, Moutinho, Maicon could all play for and improve Arsenal football club… I… Read more »
What arrogance are you talking about peasant?
Calling him a peasant for a start.

My compliments, Sir.
Cares
Ermm Maicons at Man City? :S
Its a different Maicon. He is a defender tho
The only way Melo could improve us is if he ate White Hart Lane.
Melo is shit, watch a game
Didnt Grunt Holt already eat white hart lane??
Yes, infact right after he was born he ate his parents.
Now in casualty with ergot poisoning. A common problem with eating rotten spuds.
Good players. I trust you. I propose you make a few more lists.
As I’d have this Arsenal’s current eleven over anyone. 😉
I actually wasn’t commenting on those teams in comparison to Arsenal. I mean in comparison to some of the teams that had come to the cup in the past years including PSG, Milan, Madrid, Inter, Lyon and Juventus. If you think we sit here and believe that Arsenal are better than every team around…well then hell you haven’t watched an Arsenal game with an Arsenal fan have you? We bemoan everything about our team all the time haha. And also, if you want to pretend Arsenal fans are “arrogant” like this is such a revelation in sports…talk to a Madrid… Read more »
Craig, yes we are a bit arrogant. Because were still relatively big. We have relatively big players in the premier league and European football. We have also been going through a transition period where we have built the second biggest footy stadium in the country, whilst still managing to enjoy playing football in the champs league every year. We can see the light now at the end of the tunnel. So hopefully in near future, im hopefull of justifying our arrogance. Thats part of being a BIG club. So what half say half of these top top players achieved? Drogba,Sneijder… Read more »
Cavani hasn’t won any trophies, but Fenerhbace and Porto win the league most years.
Do I really have to spell it out to you. The fact you refer to me as a “peasant” proves my point. The irony.

Certianly not the world elite, but more than reasonable lineup.
Thanks Craig for your wisdom. Now, does it piss you off when the goats are continually clip clopping over your bridge?
Craig thanks for Theo and Ox, buy we paid for the players. So now….good day to you sir. Ie, get fuked
top, top sarcasm went undetected
I think he cricked his neck as it soared over his head, bless him.
😉
Sorry Craig, can’t hear you from all the way down there in 14th
14th?. Jesus!….Is that like a position in the league table?
Mind you Southampton have won just as many major trophies as Arsenal over the past eight years.
I think that was the joke mate
OH NO THE INTERNET IS SUPAR SRS!
Well we surely arn’t favourites. Shit.
Rossi88, I can see why many fans are delusional. You WERE a “big” club, and you aren’t at present. Sure, you have a fantastic record of qualifying for the champions league, but the very fact so many players have left you to seek success proves you are no longer a “big” club. In relation to your comment about what have some of those players achieved, what they have achieved is irrelevant. What has Ramsey, Walcott, Gibbs achieved? What has Neymar achieved? A couple of nothing trophies, that doesn’t make him a world class player. My point was that those players… Read more »
We’re not the club we once were. You’re right. We’re different. We now have a future; you couldn’t say the same if we had stayed at highbury. Besides, what makes a club big if building a state of the art 60 000 seater stadium while still staying in the Champions League doesn’t? You don’t have to be United or Madrid to be big. As you say, those other clubs in the Emirates Cup are ‘great’ and on the ‘same level as Arsenal’ so surely you’re saying that Arsenal is also great. Face it, we are one of the top 4… Read more »
I honestly don’t understand your point about us NOT being a ‘Big’ club. I always assumed a ‘Big’ club was one with a history of success despite whether they’re presently successful. For example i believe that Liverpool are a big club. Yes they’re are currently not at the top of the game but they are definitely a club that everyone knows and respects. Arsenal, albeit not having won a trophy in 9 years, ARE playing at the top of the game; we qualify for Europe’s premier competition and have finished in the top 4 in the premier league for years,… Read more »
Dude fucking relax and have a drink…re-read the comments with your ironic / sarcastic head on and you might find them relatively amusing…as i’m pretty sure they were written in good humour.
Bless you Craig, I don’t know what you want to achieve here. You’ll just end up feeling sad and frustrated if you keep this up, because you won’t win an argument on this blog due to weight of numbers, and ultimately we’d all feel better if you left. Go outside or something. Good luck to Soton next season.
Oh I see it now. Your season is over so the next best thing you could do is roam around other clubs blog and spew shit, tell them how you think they should be run, You know take alittle sting out of your season.
Tell you what, we whipped you lot 6_1. Should have been more. Was that a goalie or a load of horse dung on the goal there? Couldn’t tell sorry. Bye.
How can you be so dumb to not see the sarcasm in the peasant comment lol.
Come on, he already admitted supporting Southampton!
Craig, you won’t be spouting all this “big club” bullcrap about us when we win the league next year. Undefeated. Without conceding a single goal. With one-legged players.
*puts on royal cape*
Now piss off you lowly maggot.
Still dont think he will get it! 😉
Just to clarify, the ‘one leg’ does not refer to the type of leg you use to walk/run/kick.
I’m not happy about galatasaray being invited. It shows the club are disconnected from the fans. I will not be attending the last day because I suspect that it might not be too safe given the history, I’m surprised the Met even allowed this.
Yeah, I get the Eboue connection and admittedly it would be nice to see him back here for a game or 2 – but you’re certainly not the only one feeling a bit uncertain about this. Think I’m going to be giving it a miss this time around personally. Very much hope it goes off with no trouble, but Galatasaray and Napoli? Potential trouble in spades there.
It’s going to be a good thing for kicking the season to a good start. A trophy win here might mean we get to win some major trophies in the EPL. It sure will help in confidence and morale boost!
And welcome back Eboueeeee!
Off topic, but how has this bitch slap of the Dutch Skunk by Koscielny not made it here yet? http://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/ay_108822323.jpg?w=650#038;h=1000
Damn, that’s beautiful. Kos is already my favorite of the current players. This just increases my admiration!
We always say we’re a class club. Inviting Galatasarsy after that Uefa final is a step forward inmho. Maybe we shouldn’t look back in anger and just enjoy Eboue.
I bet the gala dans would be from N London mostly as its a huge turkish community..
I’ll be going with a few mates always had a good time in the past, nice to watch a game with no pressure of must win at all costs for a change
Yes Craig we havent won anything but we have maintained a level. Of course im not happy that we havent won anything. Im not blinded, i can see we havent been our best. But look at our current competition. Chelsea man utd and man city. Loads of money!! We havent been able to compete. Hence losing players. But others turn up. And guess what. Were still where we are. Now the financial burden of new stadia has gone. We can compete for certain players. You cant tell me hand on heart and say we will not win a trophy next… Read more »
Complete farce that they’ve invited gala. Shows how out of touch the club is. Copenhagen was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. Also have the mugs at the club not bothered to find out who the biggest Turkish club amongst the Turkish community in the area around the ground: it’s fenerbace. These scummy fans killed a fenerbace fan last week. Why invite a club when there’s even a minimal risk of something kicking off. Every washed up, drug addicted ex hooligan in London will want a piece of action, plus the games will be on general sale….… Read more »
“Wenger for all his genius has never been someone to truly get the fans.”
Nonsense.
Probably included in Eboue deal. How else would we have got rid of him?
hy invite Galatasaray anyway? In my opinion it is a step forward but if fans and the local public don’t support it, it should not go ahead. Why not invite P$G or something?
Sunderland Manager Di Canio: “We thank
Arsenal for beating Wigan and help us avoid relegation, now we will try to beat Tottenham to help them get fourth!”.
There ya go! Everyone hates sp*rs.
Great comment.
I see john terry has put his kit on again. Despite not being in the squad. Twonk.
Shin pads and all the fucking knob, he has no shame the cunt
Fastest Terry has put his kit on since he heard the click in Wayne Bridges front door
So thats 2 Europeon finals chelsea have won without terry, yet hes up there taking all the fucking credit.
Chelsea winning the Europa Cup is a joke – they shouldn’t even be in it. The pathetic, money-making format of this tournament allows a team which has been knocked out of the Champions’ League to parachute into the latter rounds of this competition. Disgraceful. Only the sides which entered at the start should be allowed to progress to the final – losers like Chelsea should have been watching the final on TV like the rest of us.
Mind you: I don’t give a fuck about this trophy – so who cares? Let’s hope Everton beat them on Sunday.
The only reason I didn’t want Chelsea to lose was because they are an English team.
I was hoping that it would go into extra time so that they would get tired and would let Everton do them in the bum this weekend, bringing new meaning to ‘grand slam sunday.’
If only John Terry fell off the podium/dropped the trophy…
Off topic just seen giroud post a pic on his twitter pointing to a puma badge on a car. Am I ready too much into this lol
Does he wear Puma shoes?
Yes. He endorses puma products. Like his boots.
Good ol terry, parading himself after doing fuck all, even went as far as lifting the trophy pushing lampard aside. What a bonified cunt!
Terry is a bona fide cunt.
The person who got bonified was Wayne Bridges’ ex missus.
The only cup we have a realistic chance of winning!
No, we have no chance of winning,
We’ll get to the final and lose.
The only thing Arsenal can “win” is fourth place in the league.
Sad but fucking true
When you say “sad but fucking true” it doesn’t actually make it any more true….. In this case here, I believe you’re wrong. (sad but fucking true)
You’re not as funny as your name would suggest.
What kind of a fan writes off our next season when we haven’t even finished this season yet?
Giroud owns a Ford Puma? Well, il be damned!
Never been to the Ashburton Cup…..thinking of taking the kids over this year. What is ticket demand and pricing typically like?
Thanks
Don’t worry guys. Galatasaray Fans are now the most peaceful fans in Turkey. The Fenerbahce fan who got stabbed was bullying the Galatasaray Fan who stabbed him with 6 other guys. He had to resist. (http://youtu.be/UftpsbU_yo8?t=48s).. So, as I said: Don’t worry! 2000 is history. This times are over.
GALATASARAY <3
