Various reports this evening, including Sky Sports News, suggest that Mikel Arteta could miss up to 6 weeks with injury, in what is a massive blow to Arsene Wenger’s side.
Although described as a ‘slight thigh strain’ by Arsene Wenger earlier today, scans have revealed the injury could keep the Spaniard out until after the international break in September.
Having passed up on the chance to sign Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo this week, it leaves the Arsenal midfield extremely light and given the importance of Arteta and the way Arsenal play we have to hope the impact isn’t as big as we fear.
Whether this presses the manager into swift action in the transfer market remains to be seen, but with options now seriously diminished, we have to hope something happens.
Let’s hope we get some unicorn placenta and make him better, quickly.

Papers twist facts to make it more sensational/controversial: a bid is rejected translates into Arsenal not willing to meet valuation, which implies deal is dying/dead. But valuation is always above true price to get the most money. Hence the negotiating. Until it is announced the Gustavo is moving to a club other than Arsenal, I will continue to think that there is a chance he might sign for us.
