Theo Walcott, seemingly a fan of Arseblog News despite our occasional cutting assessment of his on-pitch performances, has described Aaron Ramsey as ‘like a new signing’ following the Welshman’s superb start to the season.
The 22-year-old midfielder has seven goals for club and country this season, comfortably beating his previous highest record, and has already been pinpointed as the early frontrunner in the race to be PFA Young Player of Year.
Praising his teammate for overcoming the horrific leg-break, sustained against this Sunday’s opponents Stoke back in 2010, Walcott said of Ramsey after his latest strike in Marseille:
“He had one of the worst injuries in football and he’s had a hard pre-season.
“He’s worked very hard and it’s definitely paying off now. He’s enjoying his football and he’s difficult to get off the pitch.
“He loves getting on the ball and he’s added something different to his game now with his goals. People used to criticise that part of his game but I see him in training every day, he’s a totally different player and he’s like a new signing. It’s an absolute honour to play with him at the moment.
“I think you can see there’s a lot of players are having fantastic starts to the season like Aaron Ramsey who has been incredible to play with. It just shows because everyone believes in each other and the trust is there and that’s all we need.”
Arseblog News couldn’t be happier that Ramsey is finally delivering on the promise of his teenage years.
Overcoming the physical torment of his injury was obviously a mammoth victory, but it’s the mental fortitude he’s since displayed which is worthy of equal praise.
Not only did he overcome the sight of his leg snapped in two, he’s also had to come to terms with the death of Gary Speed (who’d handed him the Wales captaincy) and faced down the abuse rained down on him from the terraces.
That he’s grown stronger from his experience is testament to his character, fingers crossed he can continue to improve at Arsenal. Like a new signing indeed…
LANS baby! Its catching on blogs 😉
He is like a new signing to be honest. I’m holding off on an Özil shirt because I’m not sure whether to get him or Rambo.
If you take say Capoopi and Paulinho for the fuck tonnes they cost and then compare it to an improved player, we’ve got a stronger deep midfield without spending any money on it this summer. With Arteta coming back, we’ll be able to rest Ramsey on ocassion and hopefully keep him fit for the season without burnout. LANS indeed.
How about be an adult and don’t get a name on the back of your shirt.
Uncalled for. Childish, in fact.
I’m turning up in full kit now on Sunday.
See how you like them apples.
Full Kit Wanker
I don’t want to build him up too much as it’s still early in his career, but a potential Gunners legend in the making!
Yes that seems a moderate assessment, just short of footballing god. Hell, let’s just build him up, Phoenix of the Clash with Orcs, O’Ramsey.
One Aaron Ramsey!
Such a great lad on every level. Well done Aaron. Proud of you.
Lets just hope Theo can take some shooting tips from Rambo!
best case of LANS ever!
Like a LANS!
what is LANS?
Lesbian and not straight
Does that make Na$ri a lans?
Like a new signing
After what he’s been through on both a personal, and professional level, I think it shows him to be a really great lad. I am so happy for him, and I hope he is rewarded for all his hard work.
However, I can’t help feeling a bit nauseated with the love-in he receives (now that’s he playing very well) from many of the people who booed him and hurled abuse at him from the terraces and especially on Twitter. He’s still so young. Maybe he deserves an apology for the impatience and sheer nastiness that he received.
Very well said, just shows that people shouldn’t judge so quickly, and even if someone’s not palying as good as he should when putting on the Arsenalshirt, we should still remember who the enemy is. the orcs for example.
He wasn’t playing at all well this time last year in a very limited team and took the brunt of our anger. I my case it wasn’t personal but a club like us should have options and we didn’t have many. Now the team is bearing fruit from playing him and its a wonder to see such a massive improvement. I wasn’t expecting it and I’m really happy for the guy have enjoyed all his performances this season. COYG.
It takes guts to apologise.
WE’RE SORRY! SO, SO SORRY!
It takes guts to apologise.
Although I never booed him, I did severely doubt his ability. For that I sincerely apologise.
It’s only really those who cunted him off that should consider apologising. That is, unless they’ve pioneered non-personal scapegoating.
If I ever seem I will apologise. Don’t mind admitting I didn’t think he was good enough for Arsenal.
Hello egg. Meet face.
Hahaha I saw this on arsenal.com today. Knew it was only a matter of time blogs.
Aaron Lansey how come I never thought of that! good on you blogs…
Somehow my Dad managed to get tickets to the Arsenal v Napoli game. Rambo is one of the players I’m most excited to see. Not been able to get to the stadium in a while, so it’ll be great to see how much he’s improved in the flesh, as it were.
The fact that him, Walcott, Wilshere, Ox and now Özil are still young, The future of our Midfield seems very bright indeed. Brighter than our bright white sleeves.
COME ON ARSENAL!
Blogs could consider copyrighting and earning some royalties from it … although personally I find the acrynom getting tiresome and repetitive
tar tar
If Ramsey was playing like this before the transfer market. I think he’d be a 22.55 million player. LANS
It’s a shame LANSbury could never really live up to the title.
Thats because LANS is followed by a bury….
I have no hard feelings about the former Ramsey boo boys. We all want the same thing and I’m sure they’ve all learned from this experience. Like all young players at this great great club he wants to do well but his real learning can only be done in actual games so his mistakes will naturally be there for all to see. What makes him stand out is how he’s kept his focus and belief despite those tough times. It’s that mental toughness that gives me belief that he will be an asset for years to come. Great stuff Rambo!
It doesnt MATA if the boo boys ar nw TERRYfied, the lad will continue to be a HAZARD to all opposition, what a LANS!
Are you a chelsea fan?
I just wanna know where all the people are who use to say hes not worthy of arsenal at the age of 21, now 22 and looking like a player to rival most and I see alot of love which is good but everyone just need to slow done on players development and leave it to AW
If Ramsey is undroppable at the moment (i think we all agree he is) Theo’s place as an automatic starter will be under severe threat when Santi comes back. I cannot wait to see a front 5 of Rambo, Wilshere, Ozil, Santi and Giroud!
Given Theo’s performances to date he’s fortunate Ox is sidelined because if we had anyone else who could run the right flank he would / should be sitting… one wonder volley in France simply stands to prove the adage that even a stopped clock is right twice a day… he has been somewhere between invisible and detrimental throughout this young season including the other 89 minutes Wednesday night. Theo needs a kick upside it and to start delivering on a consistent basis… he’s not a kid anymore – he’s on 100K a week! Before anyone goes wide on me stating… Read more »
What about goals against spurs, liverpool, chelsea, man u,schalke, everton etc he was the only player to score in almost all our big games.
Yeah, but we have Lansey now!
Theo score 6 in the premiership last year in close games (games we drew, lost, or won by fewer than 3)… that’s just a fact. Three of those were in a short purple patch at the end of the season. We lost 1-2 to Chelsea when he scored, won 3-1 v West Ham when he scored, drew 1-1 v Everton and ManU when he scored and drew 2-2 with Mugsmashers when he and Giroud scored. Those are hardly all our big games.
You’re right about one thing. This is still a young season. Much too soon for angry young men to be slamming any of our players.
Every time a Gooner boos an Arsenal player God kills a kitten.
Assuming you’re referencing me I’ll just clarify that I’m neither young nor angry and rather than slamming Theo I’m saying I have much greater expectations of him. You disagree, fair enough. The kittens, they can get stuffed 😉
I think you’ve been watching a different game, in fact I’m going to put money on it that you’re watching you play yourself on Fifa.
You certainly haven’t been watching Theo Walcott or the Arsenal.
Cutting? Blatantly offensive is probably more accurate.
The irony is that other players have gone through the same patchy form as Theo has yet they don’t get half the grief.
Hi Theo,
You can be a LANsey too by being more consistent
I think Theo has been playing well. Dont be too harsh on him. Oh, and gibbs for motm
The last paragraph of the above blog is so good..it’s worth reading it again..it takes some players years to redeem themselves.. What’s Ramsey has done is nothing short of a miracle..and the fact is he still long way to go before he peaks.. Scary.
In that picture, Walcott looks like he’s playing golf, and Rambo looks like he’s recreating Carltons dance from the Fresh Prince
On a different note, I want Captain Verminator to make a comeback. Monsieur Koscielny needs some competition.
The goal that he scored at masseile oozed top, top technique. he has never looked bak ever since
