Ramsey happy with fast start

Aaron Ramsey says the Gunners start to the season is a big improvement on campaigns past, and has set the tone for what he hopes is to come.

In previous years Arsenal have stuttered in the early stages, allowing opposition to get ahead and resulting in nail-biting end of season runs to achieve Champions League qualification, but the Welshman is confident this team can now go the distance.

“One of the biggest things we’ve improved on is the start of the season,” he told Arsenal Player. “We’ve struggled in the last few years and had to play catch-up.

“Now we’ve started very strongly, we’re top of the league and that’s where we want to stay. The only way we can deal with being at the top is by taking every game as it comes.

“We need to make sure we give everything in every game and not hold back and think any match is going to be easy.

“There’s an opportunity in every game to pick up points and we’re just concentrating on our own games at the moment and that’s proven in the start that we’re having.

“Other teams have struggled so far and teams are going to take points off each other so it’s important to keep focused on our own game.”

Ramsey has now scored 9 goals for this club, almost doubling the total in his Arsenal career, and although Arsene Wenger admitted yesterday he’ll need to rest him from time to time, he’ll look to hit double figures in tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Dortmund.

“At the moment, because of the way I’m playing, I want to be out there every minute of every game,” he said.

“But we have to be realistic and we have a lot of players in the middle of the park so the boss said he was resting me for the future games.”

I really miss playing with you Ramsey

I really miss having you as a customer, Marouane.

@Bloggs: Why was my comment awaiting moderation? :/

chopbuster

because it wasn’t funny

Harsh

he is playing awesome football at the movement… and we don’t wanna lose him to an injury for the sake of one game, as important as that game is. if there is a even a small risk of fatigue in playing him against dortmund, don’t start him… he can always come on as a substitute… better safe than sorry, and all that.

Giroud's flicks

True that. And if he’s as stellar from the bench against Dortmund as he was against the Canaries, then i will need a dictionary to find new superlatives.

Ps: Mate, i don’t understand why you get downvotes nearly every time. it isn’t like you are Sir Ba**s. O fellow readers of arseblog, give the guy a break, will ya?

BigArseneFan

guys dont be ‘harsh’ on him.

Nigerian_Gooner

I think its coz of his picture.
It reminds me of the dude in Big Bang Theory.

With Flamini being a big doubt and Arteta still off his best form, I’d rather have Ramsey on the pitch. Though it’s good to know that we have the depth to field a very strong team even without our two most crucial midfielders (and without any wingers at all).

Random comment

With cazorla back and just needing some more match practice Ramsey should be able to get a rest when needed, as long as our player stop headbutting the pitch

journeyman

A striker and a backup CB would be perfect Jan acquisitions to prevent burnout..poor ol’ Per and Giroud have been playing every game!!

Bolarinwa Mayowa

I know, i know but if bendtner continues in this fashion and poldi and theo to return, i wouldn’t be putting my money on us buying any striker come january, and with the HFB on this form, even the lewandowskys might just end up playing back up for this guy, sometimes, it’s not just all about scoring goals, as clinical as u-know-who is infront of goal, would u pick him over an all round giroud? No way.

journeyman

Point duly noted…however, Giroud..beast though he is; is still human and deserves a rest every now and then…at the moment.. bar Bendtner there isn’t really another option

Same with Per…Vermalen may be in-waiting but cannot duplicate the same positional masterclass that the German displays every game..he too is human and mistakes like the one that created the Norwich goal are bound to happen

Going back to my comment..IF we need perfection on a regular basis (without inuries) we need to buy a striker and a CB…having said that.. were not doing too bad right now!!

Kai

Bendtner looks like a different player. He’s holding up and laying the ball off instead of trying a turn and shot that isn’t on. Forth goal was exactly that. Even when he didn’t get the ball when Ramsey shot instead for his goal, he looked genuinely please still. No sulking or attitude. Looks to be pulling together for the team. Looking back to his performances years ago, he is still our biggest threat on goal in the air from open play if we can put crosses in to the box. His hold up play in this system we play will… Read more »

Thoughts on team formation tomorrow night?

Szszszy
Sagna Mert Kos Gibbs
Arteta Ramsey
Wilshere Ozil Cazorla
Giroud

Though if Wenger rests Ramsey, Wilshere could play in the 2 pivot and Rosicky could play in attacking midfield alongside Ozil and Cazorla maybe…..

BATMOODH

I really doubt Wenger rests Ramsey when we play one of our biggest games so far.

master floda

Without Flamini we lack a bit of aggression, so I wouldn’t mind Rosicky in the starting XI.

Lukas' Winning Smile

I think Ramsey will be rested for Crystal Palace at the weekend rather than Dortmund. But I still think Rosicky will come in, but to replace Wilshere.

We really enjoy your moment of football you are our new ferbregas. Keep it up ramsey

Naija Gunner

He is no Fabregas to me, he’s just our super “Welsh Jesus” just a bloggs called him in today’s blog post.

Fabregas could have been a legend if he were still around, but he loves barca more than Arsenal. So to me he’s just another run away player in the past. He was good but not my legend.

Silverstre for the Ballon d'OR

Fabregas stayed with us for 8 years. 8 years. During which he showed hs love and commitment to Arsenal, playing on the day his grandfather died, playing with a broken leg, throwing pizza on bacon face etc..

Don’t be fickle.

Zelalem#58

Fabregas was a great player for the club and a great captain too but for me he’s not a legend…he would’ve become one easily but because of his departure he will never ever be there on top with the likes of Dennis, Henry, Pires, Viera, Adams, Wright, Wilshere, Ramsey or NB23…

Kai

Fabregas did as much as he could for the club as any of the legends. Overall, it was just the players around him lacked the experience and edge to be consist enough to maintain the tittle challenges. For a long time, all the players looked to him to make things happen. He did his best to drive the team forward every game. Great example is the game against Stoke where Ramsey had his leg broken. You could see the club meant a lot to him. Just watch his performance here http://youtu.be/nKSvQZIgd9U We all knew it was a matter of time… Read more »

Aaron Ramsey is a man possesed at the moment. The way he’s playing you can almost see the confidence oozing from him, it has now rubbed on to the Szczesneys and the Wilsheres and the team is now one big block of fucking CONFIDENT!

Let’s play!

Edu's Braces

I’m pretty happy about it too

DR

Ooh those Zidanish skills and goal and that pass to ozil!!
Thank You Aaron. Its a joy to watch you play. Last year I would have said that only for Cazorla. Now we have Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla and (might sound weird) even Giroud too.

Kai

He did that turn in pre-season in Asia too. http://youtu.be/Dy7N_yVQkbg

Zelalem#58

Wut? I thought he made that up in the Norwich game…?!

Gerry

I cant wait for The Ox, Poldi and Walcott to all be fit and running then we will have the most creative midfield depth of any premiership squad

KANADI CHARLES

Ooo la la!

Gerry

Fingers crossed for Diaby also

Gooner for life

This comparison between Ramsey and Zidane is totally ridiculous and unfair towards Ramsey.

I Dream a Paradise

Ramsey’s confidence is the key! he used to be in similar goal scoring positions in previous seasons but he used to miss them. Now he looks more assured, more thought in the movements inside ‘D’ area which is very pleasing!

More from you Aaron, you are an inspiration!!

Unyoke The Ox

Love the way that he screams for the ball now.

Kai

He is becoming our most competent box to box player since Vieira. Tackling, passing, dribbling and shooting. It’s all there. Don’t remember the last time we had anyone provide such a consistent goal treat from outside the box either. His shots from all distances were on target and worked the keeper. Their keeper had to be alert several times against his hots from outside the box. Gives our attack an extra dimension. Now defenders are not sure whether to close down his shots or drop back anticipating a through ball. Any opposition hesitation gives our player extra second to make… Read more »
