Ramsey: there’s more to come from me

Aaron Ramsey’s start to the season has been eye-catching at domestic and international level, but the Welshman believes there’s plenty more still in the tank.

He scored for Wales on Tuesday, to add to the 9 he’s got for his club, but his desire to improve his game is something that drives him forward.

Although it’s almost impossible for him to continue scoring at this rate, he’s determined to try and implement things that Arsene Wenger has been teaching him on the training ground.

“I think there is more to come,” he said. “I’m still only 22, I still need to do better and learn a few more things but the boss is telling me about that.

“I mean things like positioning defensively. When you haven’t got the ball, while we’re defending, sometimes I am not always where I need to be.

“I need to be playing well, be involved in the game and taking matches by the scruff of the neck. I need to keep doing the things I’ve been doing – but there’s definitely more to come and I’m looking forward that.”

Ramsey’s renaissance, after a difficult period in his career, has led to high praise from fans and media alike, but he’s keeping his feet very much on the ground.

“It’s nice to have it recognised that I’m doing well and to have people saying good things about me, but I try not to take too much interest.

“I just try to focus on my own game and what I need to do to improve.”

One Aaron Ramsey! Love the lad. And I believe 100% that he’ll get even better. He’s got his head in the right place, and a fantastic engine to boot. Wouldn’t be surprised if he can stay on a consistently high level all season and play every match bar injury.
The sky’s the limit!

gunner

The most impressive element about Rambo is his damn hardwork on the pitch add on that he’s getting his confidence back plus the obvious fact that he’s a damn good footballer. the heights this beautiful lad could reach only bergkamp knows!

Weng(unn)er

With all due respect to Arseblog, why is it ‘impossible’ to continue scoring at this rate? Impossible is nothing, especially when you are talking about Aaron Ramsey 🙂

You Know it

Future Arsenal captain I’m calling it now.

Geezer

For some reason, that does not sit well with me. Maybe because our captains have been walking out on us of late 🙁

MalaysianGooner

Idk whether to like or dislike your comment.

P.S I went ahead and liked it anyway

CapeTöwn_Gööner

Ramsey is on top form if more “technically gifted” players have to sit on the bench for him.. The likes of Wilshere and Rosicky have to play second fiddle to oue Welshman.. Love it keep it up.. Ramadaan Ramsey!!

erin

Okay I’m so curious what this Ramadan Ramsey thing is all about? I see it on twitter all the time and dont have a clue as to what it means!? Someone said he fasted with Abou Diaby for Ramadan to show solidarity but I doubt he’d do that given the fitness regimen he must be on.

Redondante

There’s no ‘reason’. It was just a random, alliterative phrase made up by Culann Davies that caught on. It’s inspired some good myths, though!

Sinai

There is no Doubt in my mind that Rambo one day will become the best ( or at least one of the best) player in the world. It’s all up to him now and I am happy to see that he is hungry for more!

sam

He’s currently the best

Zelalem#58

Will be a close range with Jack in the future 😉

*race of course

De de de derrere de de de derrere de de de derrere Aaron Ramsey!

monkeypumps

I honestly forgot that the lad’s only 22. So much more to come for him, let’s hope he continues along the trajectory he’s been setting recently.

Niall Liszt

He’s 22.

22.

I’m 22, and I just discovered a 6 month old bowl of spaghetti bolognese hiding under my bed.

Jesus.

Luuuuukkkee

I’m 27 and found a six month old bowl of pasta under my bed.

therewillbebears

I’m a 6 month old piece of spaghetti and found a 22 year old Welshman in my bowl.

Amy Willy

I think its easy for us fans to forget just how young Rambo is because he’s been with us for some time, I mean he came to us as a kid. But just imagine if this is the type of footie he’s playing at 22…and continuing to improve under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger and the likes of Robert Pires and Steve Bould….and playing alongside Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky…all I gotta say is wow.

Shasha

While watching Ramsey play for past 2 seasons, I used to criticise him alot. I was always against him being in the lineup and blamed Wenger for having so much faith in the Welshman. The way he has played in the 2nd half of the last season and this season has been brilliant. I have no shame in accepting I was wrong about him. And yes, Wenger continues to prove that he knows the players more than any of us fans and critics. First with the emergence of Ramsey and secondly with the importance of Flamini signing. I am so… Read more »

Hopefully you remember this next time AW decides to stick with a player undergoing poor form.

Redondante

Like Wilshere. Though it seems to be mainly non-Arsenal fans who are dismissing him as ‘overrated’ and ‘overhyped’.

Extremely stupid to write off a 21 year-old, particularly one as talented as him. Much like Ramsey, he has a long, long time to embarrass those who doubted.

SB

When Ramsey was looking for a new club when at Cardiff, it was AW & Red Nose going head to head for him. As much as I disliked Red Nose, if him & AW were fighting for a young kid, it was reason enough to keep faith, especially when the kid choose us over them!

Kosballs

All celebrities, please start praying to bergkamp

gooonnneeeer

aka god

True Red

Fantastic to see Rambo blossoming into the type of player who can do everything a quality midfielder should do. Look forward to seeing him continue to improve

bitchplease

I knew it once Ramsey started scoring even when he don’t want to, they’ll be no more celebrity jokes.

Mach iii

SAFerguson didn’t go head to head with SAWenger to sign Ramsey for nothing.

WizardOfOzil

Fergie always tried to hoover up any emerging British talent that was going, Ramsey so made the better choice imo.

Amy Willy

His attitude is so much a better fit at Arsenal than at United and I think he saw that. I mean he is a prototypical Arsene Wenger type of footballer: talented, works his bollocks off for himself and the team, unselfish, humble and stays the hell out of the tabloids.

Redondante

I’d recommend anyone who enjoys a laugh to search for the ‘Aaron Ramsey’ thread on the Man Utd fan forum ‘RedCafe’. When first linked, they praise him to the skies: ‘He reminds me of a younger Andres Iniesta.’ ‘A young Steven Gerrard!’ ‘More like a young Scholes!’ ‘It’s premature to label him a Man United player, even if he probably will choose us.’ ‘I’m confident he’ll pick United over Arsenal. I don’t think he would like to join a club where 90% of people speak a totally different language.’ ‘I am sure Arsenal have their redeeming features as well, but… Read more »

Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. WOAH.

Sorry.

Possewho?

AP

Why would he want to go to Utd anyway, its the graveyard of creative midfielders.

Ozinal

continue to stay humble, work hard and improve, Ramsey, every step you take towards realising your potential as a world-beater is the best revenge to exact on that coward who almost destroyed your career in Feb 2010. And yes …learn as much from AW as you could…not least his commitment and loyalty to the club. Repay the faith of the boss who not only awarded you a new contract while you were still recuperating from the injury in 2010, but braved all criticism and persevered with you while you were finding your form and footing prior to start of this… Read more »

glory hunter

That’s a great point Ozinal!
The faith showed in him by Arsene by offering him an extension to his contract during his poor spell must have really encouraged \Rambo cos he knew the manager still had faith in him and that clearly instilled the confidence in his game that he had lost.

When you think about it, Arsene did the same to Eduardo, and probably Diaby.

TiuTiu

That’s a good point actually. He re-signed in December and his form started picking up right around then and continued to do so through the 2nd half of last season, post contract. He might have been galvanized by Wenger handing him a new 5 year deal despite his troubles.

LANS

which was more important?
1.signing ozil
2.signing flamini
3.rambos resurgence
answer: who cares! they are all ducking brilliant

rambo + ozil + cazorla = most excited about watching arsenal i’ve been for years and years

glory hunter

What makes me even more excited is a lot of people seem to have forgotten how good Wilshere is, just like Rambo’s renaissance, Wilshere’s return to form will be unexpected, deadly and inspirational.
Cos that boy is special.

TiuTiu

I mean I might be stating the obvious here but I believe Jack and Aaron are the future of this club. The British Core in general are, but especially those two.

Can't hold his ale

And people have forgotten all about the Ox!

ColoradoGunner

Agree, but remember Ozil just turned 25! He’s got many years ahead of him at Arsenal as well.

Nicklas Bendtner

The secret behind Aaron’s superb goal scoring form is that he has been under my personal guidance this season.
Last two seasons I was away so he couldnt score but now that I am back you can straight away notice the improvement.

shuggietodd

And if there’s an Aaron Ramsey jewellery line, then we’ll know that the hard work has really paid off.

AP

U mean innerwear line?

Gunnersaurus

Ah, the smugness of that grin.

He’s looking at all the twats that booed him at the Emirates.

Gandalf the Red

He’s looking at the away Stoke fans. This is pre-shushing. Amazing.

Karl

You know what, I don’t think it’s impossible for him to stop scoring at the rate he is. Firstly, I think he’s just clicked, he’s found his mojo as it were. Secondly, I think he’s one of those players that stays after training and gets a few more hours of practice in. Even after our £42m purchase its still Ramsey who is shining the most. We’ll need him at the top of his powers in these crucial few months!!

Shasha

Score goals like Lampard
Engine of Gerrard
tackling of Roy Keane
Attitude of Patrick Vieira.
Name is Aaron Ramsey. Complete midfielder.

AP

I agree with your first 2 comparisons.

But tackling like that Manure brute who should be jailed for the assault on Haaland?

The attitude of captain Vieira who couldn’t be arsed to dispel those transfer rumours every summer?

Harsh

i agree with your first point…

abdul

Rambo’s story is similar to that of Gladiator movie.

zizou

me mouth just cant fill any more the pies of the humble

Owen Narita

I remember a drunken drunken night on mojitos in February when I met one of my roommate’s friends. Dude was French and a huge Arsenal fan. So we got talking and he asked me who my favorite player was, and I said Ramsey. He was shocked, and I could tell he was really holding back because we had just met. Anyway, we talked about the topic (his was Theo) and I said listen, in 6 months we’ll come back, revisit and winner gets a mojito (he thought Rambo would get loaned out). We’ve both moved away from the city since,… Read more »

Another brilliant spot by Wenger. I am happy to admit I didn’t think he was good enough the last couple of seasons. In saying that I’m chuffed to see him in such rich form. Long may it continue!

All hail Rambo!

Özil Gummidge

Ramsey, Wilshere, Özil. The oldest only just 25. The future could be very bright indeed.

ColoradoGunner

Ox 20. Walcott 24. Szczesny 23. Gibbs 24. This team is ridiculously young. The future is white hot.

Don’t keep your feet on the ground all the time Rambo , especially defending set pieces !

Özil cant be injured

All hail King of d Jews
