Santi Cazorla says that Arsene Wenger is much more demanding with his players this season, insisting they cut out the individual mistakes which cost so many points in previous seasons.
In a lengthy interview with The Guardian’s Sid Lowe, the former Villarreal and Malaga man admitted he’s seen a change in the Arsenal boss, and that it’s translated into the team’s best start to the season in nine hundred years.
“He’s more demanding,” he said. “More concentrated, more conscious.
“It’s been a long time without winning anything and he’s determined. I learn from him every day and he has the same philosophy to keep the ball, play, but in defence, in terms of not committing mistakes, he’s more on top of us.
“He knows last year we lost too many points. It could be that [the pressure in the summer] might have helped; it might have done the club good.”
The Spaniard pointed to the signing of Mesut Ozil as the moment real belief returned to the squad, but he was just as ready to praise others in the team who have made important contributions this season.
“Flamini does a hidden job. Who gives the assist? Mesut. Who scored the goals? Giroud. And Giroud’s playing with more confidence. Last year he never quite became undisputed first choice: the manager tried Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski. This year Giroud started well, scored a lot, won the trust of the manager and the fans, and he’s grown. He’s fundamental.
“People see those details, the goals and assists but players like Flamini are vital: balance, positioning, intelligence. Flamini is like a coach on the pitch, he runs all game, he’s intense, well positioned. It’s not coincidence.
“And Aaron Ramsay has been incredible. I really liked him already but now he’s so consistent, playing well every single game. You see the confidence: he dares to try everything and it’s coming off. We can’t load him down with responsibility but he’s been superb.”

What a bargain! Top top quality player
“Do more”. I like it
Yeah, that’s got to be one of the all-time great captions. Specially with the slightly bored and unsatisfied expression on his face.
everyone has respect of everyone in the team.. the roles also seem defined, Wenger demanding more, arsenal playing well and there is a healthy competition in the team.
Is this the year?? oh heal yeah!!!
Boom-slam! Southampton is going down
Come on you gunners!!!! Lets get another 3 points this weekend!
I love this team
Fin
So as it stands the team 99% fit & some good returning players from injuries nice news coyg
** Flamini is like a coach on the pitch** . Coach Flaminator!!!
Flatusso!!
Flambo
Flammando!
Too far?
Perfect caption is perfect.
Now theo back as it happens theo theo ozil can do his normal defence attack or a gd role because them last believe big games our team had ozil was being pressured look were he played at real, coyg
Oh my, that quite literally baffled me…
He says Ozil is better in the middle than on the wing because he gets pressed harder with less space to get a pass away when he goes out wide, and it’s good Walcott is back to give him a speedy outlet on the right for his thru-balls from the centre of the park. Maybe.
Thanks for the translation, I needed that.
Please use real English and not text speak. See the comment policy, thanks.

Lay down, take a deep breathe and tell me
It’s take a deep *breath*, alternatively ‘breathe deeply’. Sorry to be pedantic, but given your username I would expect you to be able to write English properly and not confuse verbs and nouns 😉 Especially in the light of palace gunner’s aberration of an entry above, which serves as a potent reminder of how bad language can get when syntax and semantics go wrong, to the point where his meaning has been lost altogether. Having an irksome day at work…I’ll get my pedant coat now…
That aint text speak,I don’t know what it is, but it’s not text speak
palace gunner? Hmm…
Has Her Majesty been on the Sherry again?
Did anyone pick up on the part where Flamini is a tough tackling fucktard who sits infront on the back four and destroys everyone and coming his way??
Don’t come on here calling Flamini a fucktard. If you want to call him that then do it to his face. But make sure you say your goodbyes to the rest of us before you do it as you may not get the chance once he’s put his point of view to you.
My favourite player. Great footballer, always smiling. I love him!
Hope Carzola hits top form and now that Theo is back Sagna can take a break from playing two positions and be more defensive.
CA – ZOR – LA
Jesus it ain’t hard
Clearly it’s Cazorla, and you and I will never make that mistake. But for some people, even with slight dyslexia, it really is difficult.
Some people have known me my whole life and still continue to refer to me as dick, it astounds me, but I’ve concluded they are just unable to differentiate between the two.
when theo plays on the right he quite often keeps drifting inside, so even with walcott, much of the time sagna will have to play “two roles” anyway.
He Cazorla also mentioned how gutted he is that Suárez didn’t join. Yet you have some dullards on here saying we don’t want/need him. One even said they’d rather have Bendtner, yes Bendtner playing upfront than resort to signing Suárez.
Bring on the thumbs down. I don’t give a fuck.
Hell we WILL win the CL if we get Suarez thats for sure!
I get your stance, and he is a good player no doubt, but I think the people that didn’t want him (me included) thought he was a bit of racist bitey divey c*nt … I still think that and still don’t want him and besides if Real and Barca want him, Nick can’t be all that bad 😉
MOST dullards would put up, shut up and support IF it happened ie Suarez signing. I will ALWAYS trust AW’s judgement and numbers don’t lie – goals, assist, work rate, chances created. However, integrity, respect, professional courtesy, sense of morality are important to ME and a few others. Suarez has repeatedly – bite #1, racism, bite #2 – demonstrated disregard for fellow professionals. If these can be overlooked, then I shouldn’t even mention his diving as a reason as to why I wouldn’t want him. Saint Mario of Milan pales in comparison. The only nut case that exhibits more wanton… Read more »
PS Santi is a god. Yeah, I said it…..a fckin god.
My man love for Santi knows no bounds
I always said to Aaron:
“Listen my son, ‘e who dares, wins. This time next year you’ll be a superstar!”
And you will be great this season too, Santi. We believe!
The best start to the season in nine hundred years?!?!
Yes, it’s called a stat. We got it off Plopta.
That photo caption had me in stitches
Cazorla is a top bloke. What he does on te pitch is magnificent but what’s more impressive is his attitude off the pitch. He’s a real gent that’s always smiling and is very humble despite his massive talent. NB52 would do himself a lot of good if he tried adopting Cazorla’s approach to life
Plopta
ha ha ha ha!
