Do we have the number of give aways by Ozil? World class player but today was just not his day

Romeo Ramone

He’s tired yet Wenger refuses to rest him. He’s sluggish in most 2nd halves lately.

jedi

100 – % we missed super Tom Rosicky.

Cna

cant help but think we lost because we didnt have Merts. 🙁

Woolwich Peripatetic

Two biggest absentees today, Mertesacker and Walcott.
The BFG for his defensive nous (it’s very doubtful we’d have conceded from a set-piece with him playing).
Walcott for the simple fact that he alters the defensive arrangement of any side he faces (or he scores a hat-trick). United’s CB pair had time and space to deal with Giroud, Walcott changes Giroud’s heat-map by about ten yards IIRC.

ChrisGoona

Apparently he was one of the ill players pre-game… Gnabry was too, so we were really out of options. Unless you want to throw in Miyachi after some average performances so far in the Cup.

Aussie Gooner

1 – Number of tables broken when the dutch skunk headered onto his shoulder…

Romeo Ramone

The numbers aren’t bad since we played poorly in the first half. Getting 0 dribbles however is absolutely poor. Chambo, Rosicky and a fresh Ozil and Cazorla are needed in these games. Disappointed we didn’t even get a point out of this fixture.

WizardOfOzil

That’s their lowest number of attempted passes at Old Trafford in SEVEN YEARS

Despite the result today, there’s something very comforting about the new era being ushered in at Man Utd under Moyes. Sure, he can get blood from a stone, but when push comes to shove you just know they’re going to be a class below the best teams. To hear him talk about the work he’d be doing for years to come was as soothing as a lullaby.

CADGooner

I was genuinely pissed off by that Vermaelen freekick….seriously
But anyways , we have to look at the other positive results from this week, move on and try to stay consistent.

Mesut Aussie

Just a shame this fixture came at the end of a taxing week. We will beat those mother fuckers! We have nothing to fear but fear itself..

heroldgoon

What was the mentality behind taking that free kick….

“Eh i might as well try?” shit pissed me off!

When does the Ozil from the Culam davies videos arrive?

1 – Sleeping Aaron ramsey.

heroldgoon

Noclass Bendtner.

heroldgoon

It’s as if the surface he’s playing on is not grass but broken glass instead…..twat.

North Bank Gooner

I think the throw of the dice putting Bendtner on was a bit of a waste, he made exactly the same runs as Giroud, attacking the same spaces far too often. If we are to try 2 up top we need Podolski/Walcott fit, so we have different options and ideas. Nick and Ollie are very similar. ( apart from Nick being a bellend! )

What was pleasing was the obvious lack of a gulf in class between us and the champions. Apart from the mugsmashers no big teams stole a march, so we are still looking ok.

COYG!!!!! Onwards!

Rufusstan

Agreed, but then if the squad had been bug free, you can guarantee it wouldn’t have happened yesterday. — Even after having played twice in the week, Rosicky was the better option.

(Hell even if it meant having to go to the side of the pitch every 2 minutes to throw up, Rosicky would still have been the better option).

andy

nice stats. funnily, i don’t feel so bad about today’s game. the result sucks but i thought we made united look very average and i’d be far more worried if i was a united fan right now. this was our best performance at OT for a long time and we were worthy of a draw at least. having said that i am a bit concerned by a few things: – ozil seems to have gone seriously off the boil in the past few games. is it just the pace of the english game catching up with him? his body language… Read more »

Harsh on Vermaelen. He didn’t do much wrong and was as good as Koscielny.

He is our club captain, once captain of Ajax and Belgium. He is NOT a shit player and I shall continue hoping he stays at the club and improves his game to world class levels like Mertesacker and Koscielny have done in the last 10 months.

I would however endorse buying 4th choice centreback (Sanga is still the best RB we have).

Rufusstan

I agree that yesterday didn’t feel bad as I thought it would. It might be down to the point Blogs made in the main post this morning. For United it turned out to be a good time to play us, with us still having injuries in key areas, 3rd big game in 8 days, and illness on top (remember Arteta played Ill, and he was the one Wenger admitted to). The positive I take away is that with all of that, they only scraped a win at home. In perspective with other results: City losing to a relegation candidates, the… Read more »

I really hate those shit kickers so much. Oh well, let them enjoy this false dawn. We always play with an inferiority complex at Old Twatford. This reminded me of Arsenal’s 2-1 win over them in 2008, in terms of the result, not the style of play obviously. Everyone had written us off and thought Rooney Ronaldo and co would smash us. They lost that game and then went on that crazy run of 14 or 15 games without conceding a league goal. I honestly think United can’t finish higher than 4th this season. Our players were sick and tired,… Read more »

Every one is breaking bendtners balls. Ya, he sucks. We know that. But for me, it was santi, Ramsey, ozil and flamini who shit the bed today. That was the worst I’ve seen our midfield look in quite some time. Nothing worked for them today. Oh- well, shit happens. Everyone has an off day now and then. It just sucks they all had it on the same day.

I’m not to concerned over today. Still clear at the top.

andy

we looked tired to be sure. that was a tough game coming at the end of a week like the one we’ve had. still, we came very close to getting a draw away to the champions with a very tired team and a lot of below par performances. we will give them a good spanking back at the grove! to be fair to supernic he was an inch away from a last minute winner. he would score goals if he got regular games but he’s never going to get that until he changes his attitude. sad to see him wasting… Read more »

All Nicky B had to do was continue running in a straight line and that ball would have hit him somewhere on his oversized Nordic body and carromed into the net. Not sure why he pulled up.

Richeeee

How we handle the big matches will determine if we’re winning the title. We still have city and Chelsea to play. Hopefully we’ll have poldi, ox, Theo and new signing playing by then.

@EmCholed

Bendtner needs Black Coffee.

palace gunner

Like you say 3 tough & crucial games 1 loss of 3 games, the bad side of it is 1st team back, i know a few players injured, flu & match fitness probs, but keep up the good team work ydays game was a rush of things mistimed passing alot against a hungry utd side, who believe me should have lost, look ahead now team & fans

thw14

Ozil needs to look to Sagna, Flamini and Giroud for what a United match means. More often than not, matches like this are won by big players and secured by team effort.

That Flamini clatter into Jones though…. tres magnifique. And he didnt come anywhere near a booking after that. Cunning to match some much needed steel.

pauly bear

1 major dose of the spats the arsenal players had, they were trotting aroung like they had one of darren fletchers sports nappys one. They looked well off pace and still should have got something from the game

Plus side still 2 point clear, and old Trafford out of the way.

pauly bear

Feckin phone has a mind of its own.

Ayomide

Every time I don’t watch arsenal play, they lose.

Joey Sixpack

I am starting to think my hatred for UTD is greater than my hatred for spurs. Rooney, evra, van Judas.. Its like a roll-call for cunts! Anywho, we go into the interlull still top in the PL and our champions league group so we are still in a great position. We just have to get back on track after the lull. Coyg! Keep the faith!

JD

Özil often sucks against good teams. He was shining in La Liga because there was no competition besides Barca. Also, if you look at the games Germany lost over the last years (Spain, Italy) he was nowhere to be seen. His talent is mind-blowing, but he absolutely hates to fight in tight games. At one point in the game last night, Gibbs (I think) played a long ball to him. Even though it was not well-placed, Özil took it down with a world-class first touch. And then he gave it away when playing an easy pass to Ramsey. As if… Read more »

Ozil was poor yesterday. However, let’s put to bed the idea that he doesn’t deliver against big teams.

Exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyKfl0SMKBc

Overall, a very annoying defeat. Ultimately, a draw would have been fair but we just need to come back stronger. United will drop points again this season – against poor teams as well. They really didn’t do much yesterday, we were just not great in possession or going forward.

Rufusstan

A good measure will be the next week. The really good players shake a bad performance off by going all out in the following few games.

If true, you have to be sorry for the poor bastards playing Germany….Oh Bollocks.

Tom Watt

A bridge too far.

sagnas hair

off topic: what’s happening with Sanogo? Wasn’t he supposed to be back after the last interlull?

arsenicdaemon

Great stats here, and like other gooners pointed out, our problem was more with our MF. For once I didn’t blame NB for the loss. Bar the useless FK from the skipper he did everythng right. I honestly wanted to see Gibbs & Özil start from the bench. They need rest and it shows in their movement. I fear Gibbs is in the red zone now. I wanted to see a starting line as Szczsney, Sagna, TV, Kos, Monreal; Ramsey, Famini, Arteta, Cazorla, Gnabry, Giroud. Then the bench would have JW, Özil, NB as the primary subs. We’d hav had… Read more »
