Leaving the drama of sleeves to one side, Mathieu Flamini has hailed the spirit in the Arsenal side as they look to book their place in the Champions League knock-out stages.
The 2-0 win over Marseille still leaves them with something to do in Naples, but Flamini is proud of the commitment and drive shown by his teammates.
“I’m happy, I feel good,” he said. “I feel happy in this group, but what is important is the collective. Again today the spirit on the pitch was amazing. Everyone was helping each other and that makes the difference because we have an amazing group.
“I’m really happy to be part of this team. The philosophy is still the same. We are still playing the same football. Arsène Wenger is still here with the same conviction. For me on the pitch it is always the same game so it came naturally. With experience and being five years in Italy learning a lot and trying to improve technically, I hope I am a better player.”
And on the game against his former club, Flamini admitted the Gunners should have made the scoreline more decisive.
“We played well, we created a lot of opportunities. At 1-0 at half-time I think we deserved to have scored one or two more goals, but what was important was the victory. It was a great performance. Everyone was happy.
“We got the three points, which was great. If we focus when we go to Napoli I think we’ll go through. When you play for Arsenal your objective is to win every game so we will go to Napoli to win, to try and finish top of the group, because we know it is important.
“Usually with 12 points you go through but I think it is a tough group, the hardest.”
