Quite something aren’t they?

Chaplin35

I like when Per is giving interviews, I think it’s his accent, but it sounds like you really have to listen what the man has to say, like it’s either life or death lol

shaikhharis

Best defence in premier league……hope they’ll stay fit until we win PL

iwearnosocks

and beyond… don’t forget the beyond section.

Corona X

The two best center halves in the Premiership.

berlingoon

not sure about that but the best duo by far for sure!

MalaysianGooner

Same difference. Always judge defenders by their pairings

Aussie Gooner

Yeah, we’ve finally found Campbell & Touré – Mark II, haven’t we?

Modhabobo

Whenever I see the Mert-locker play like that all I can think of is Gandalf yelling ‘You shall not pass!’ Brilliant!

Mikel Artekkers

Mert-locker! Incredible!

ArsenalHobbit

BIG FUCKING GERMAN!!! WE’VE GOT A BIG FUCKING GERMAN!!!

ArsenalHobbit

Any established chant for Kos the Boss yet?

Tapscotts Testicles

That utter cunt Durham is at it again on talkshite about us “celebrating“ at the end & after the game. Did anyone see Dortmunds celebrations after the game at the Emirates 2 weeks ago…? It was like they had won the champs league, whilst we had a few high fives, a swapped shirt, and a big beaming smile. Durham u cunt.

Jagger

This is a heartfelt plea: please people whatever you do, do not click on any article or video with this filthy, shameless and repulsive man’s name on it. Do not click and do not comment. As blogs says, he is paid to be a wind up merchant. Only together can we stop the media’s tyranny over our emotions and intelligence by making them stop publishing the bullshit that this man writes.

Gearoid Kelly

Don’t know who this Durham chap is. Over here, feckin RTE jut whinged about us for half an hour and followed it up with “that’s not to take anything away from Arsenal. Utter cunts. Dortmund are the team every pundit in Europe has salivated over for the last 12 months. We outplay them at home and lose, then nick a win away after super defending and could have scored 3 or 4 in the end. Yet get slated after both performances. Then Lewandowski should have a clear penalty while Koscielny’s incident wasn’t even on the highlight reel. Man United supporting… Read more »

santori

Shouldn’t we be celebrating? We did win.

Oli

Talksport seem to get a lot of revenue by getting Arsenal supporters to call up by winding up them up with crappy comments like that. Durham makes a living out of it. He seems fine though whenever Ray Parlour in on air with him.

devil's advocate

God I love them.

Joey

Has to be the best CB pairing in the league from about midway through last season.

It took Mert a little while to acclimate, but he has since cut out the mistakes and been nothing short of rock solid for us, not to mention his leadership qualities. Kos too has cut down on the rash challenges, and is just a superb defender all around.

Long may it continue!

akkimaniac

Bosscielny: what a find by Wenger; tell me which manager has the brilliance to spot and the guts to bring a player who was playing 2nd division football not so long ago. I’m not an AKB by any stretch of imagination; but this guy was a real diamond that Wenger picked from a coal mine and polished it. BFG: Amazing how he has improved season after season; ppl said he wont fit in bcoz of his lack of pace. Just goes to show football isn’t all about pace; you can also play with your intelligence; intelligence which most of the… Read more »

igor stepanovs

And to add to this, the “pundits” never – NEVER – bemoan racist John Terry’s “lack of pace”. For that matter, I never heard Hansen mention Carragher’s “lack of pace”. I can only conclude that the pundits that make this observation about BFG are all worthless, clueless cunts.

Ltwo

Hard to see TV5 getting a starting spot with Kos and Mert playing so well. Also, people say Dortmund should have had a penalty for Mert’s tug on the Dortmund striker but what about that crushing axe-drop on Kos from the Dortmund goalie?

Heisenberg

The Dortmund keeper did his best impersonation of Harald Schumacher in that challenge.
It was a stonewall penalty, which was never given.

MyArsenalView

Yet they only have 80 or slightly above in FIFA 14. Should be Mertesacker 84 and Koscielny 85, at least.

AP

have always maintained that fifa is biased bigtime towards the “money” teams.

akkimaniac

BFG used to have 88 in Fifa 09…..dunno what happened in the recent editions

Ozil's Gum

He came to arsenal. He’d be an 89 if he was at manure. Fucking Ferdinand is rated higher than them ffs. I usually fix the overalls every year as they are all bullshit. Even the Dutch cunt was never over 85 for us but as soon as he leaves, boom 89.

Harsh

i find FIFA MANAGER ratings far more detailed and acuurate…
But this has always been a problem, especially with arsenal players. Players come here and develop so suddenly and explosively under wenger, most FIFA ratings seem outdated. Take arteta for example, under wenger at the age of 29-30, he started showing the defensive side of his game, that was previously unknown. FIFA can’t match that.

Chris Byrne

They’re great together and individually, but it’s how you coach them that counts! Well Steve Bould!

Poldi's Thumb

I was just watching the “ManUtd Fan TV ” preview for sunday’s game, I was wondering what those fuckers dared to say. And all of them were like “our defense is way better”.

Can’t wait to see Shrek and Robin fuck Persie getting frustrated time after time.

Michal

I hope BFG and Koscielny will deal with Shrek and Donkey like they did with Suarez&Sturridge.

goonerestgooner

If we win the league this season, they should name the end of season dvd “downward spiral”

Antimaq

I loved how well the offside trap was put into effect yesterday. Much love for the back 5 🙂

santori

Yeah, we seemed to have gotten it right and are using it well.

Like our approach against Dortmund. No point show boating, leave the rock and roll shite to Dortmund. We want 3 points.

Defense first. Dont let anything in. After all, we are virtually guaranteed a goal with Ramsey these days.:D

Jay ozil

Fucking untouble!

Gunner73

Love these two together, a brilliant partnership. I’d go as far to say that Mertesacker is possibly the most important player in the team, and the one we’d miss the most if injured for any length of time (apart from Giroud possibly) I know we’ve got by with Sagna and Vermaelen filling in, but I think he’s got qualities that no other defender at Arsenal has. It really pisses me off when the likes of Redknapp go on about his supposed lack of pace, there’s so much more to playing centre back than pace and he’s got all the needed… Read more »

santori

He’s too slow.:D

Gooner for life

…… funny how both combined cost less then David ‘liability’ Luiz.

santori

Cos Wenger doesn’t know what he’s doing and has become a liability to the club.

Who in their right mind would convert Henry into a striker, then kolo Toure into a Cback and Arteta into a DM?

or take Flamini for free when blatantly we need a tall bruising DM.

or keep faith in Ramsey who is clearly rubbish.

the media knows. Listen to Twitchy, Hansen, Murphy, Tommy Smith, some Mexican chap named Mercardo, Robbie Savage etc etc.

joe shmo

On an unrelated topic, ‘l’equipe’ are reporting Flamini trained and should be available this week end. However, and if this is true it could be real shitty, Giroud is uncertain with a knock to the knee (he better be ok). And as reported all over Wilshere is very uncertain and Walcott ruled out.
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Flamini-de-retour/415321

Even if it’s without Giroud, there’s always Ramsey. and Ozil. and Santi. And the BFG sure deserves ones, came so close against DVB. and I nearly forgot, TGSTEL.

santori

Probably put Flamini on with Arteta. Forward 3 of Ozil, Ramsey and Santi.

Take out Arteta and bring Ramsey back a little after 70 minutes, put on Walcott. Then there’s the ever young Rosicky.

And we haven’t got Podolski, Chambo, Gnabry Jack factored in yet.

not enough options, I suppose we will have to dip into the market again for midfield. So says the media.

SACK WENGA

This Mertesacker chap has certainly come leaps and bounds since his unconvincing spell at Real Madrid…

Peter Wright

What a great video and what a fantastic pairing. Perhaps you could send this to Alan Hansen – Christ he does my head with his anti – Arsenal rubbish.

Highbury

In other news this evening…..the Spuds scrape a 2-1 against quality side, the Sheriff of Nottingham :p

santori

Oh yes, we’re the great pretenders…

Dan

It’s strange – I don’t even think about Spurs these days. Don’t care about their results, don’t care where they are in the table… we’re in a whole different league this season

heroldgoon

Huge huge result for Sp*rs….i mean sherriff are no dortumund. but hey huge result.

santori

Europa league. Yawn.

Rajthegoon

The meanest defensive partnership in the world. Van Persie and the little boy inside him must be shitting themselves for Sunday.

Pearson

This feels so much better than seasons past, where, (to repeat hundreds of comments on here), I now feel comfortable with a one goal lead whereas in the past we would concede in the 94th minute. It seems that we have a better capacity to close or wrap up a game from early on. And I am certain that Cesc would have stayed if we weren’t so prone to late defensive lapses during his tenure. And BTW, Mertesacker doesn’t need pace (apparently he is one of the quickest in the German team) He always seems to be in the right… Read more »

Teleportation?

Skeptic Acid

Anyone noticed how far was Ozil was back to help out the defense in some shots, even in the first half where the pressure was moderate? It didn’t seem like it during the match but he was the third-most runner in the team behind Ramsey and Arteta. Wenger aptly put it saying that he does things depending on what the game wants and not for his ego.

Man, this team is special.

santori

people getting on Ozil really tick me off.

They were on Santi not too long back and Arteta.

Ozil may not be at his best yet but even at this level, he does things that are crucial for the team.

santori

Great vid Calum.

Excellent account of perhaps what is fast becoming the best centre pairing in England.

So we have a brittle defense according to the media.

Should check out that Mercardo chap on espn. Believe the vid is still up. Goes on about how Arsenal will lose to Dortmund bc we suck at defending.;)

Sure.

Sam

Why is there no song for Koscielny? Ok, his name is tricky but he deserves his own song.

Princeravic

Looking at those 2, i cant just imagine wah’s going on in d mind of thomas vermelean!

Seaman's Shovel Hands

To the tune of “Daisy”,
Koscielny, Koscielny, he’ll nick the ball off you;
Interceptions, sliding tackles too;
He makes a stylish challenge, he is a dream to manage;
And we’ll all cheer as he hoofs it clear,
He’s gonna pocket you!

Thats the best I’ve got… Suggestions?

Nikhil Agarwal

How the hell is that not a penalty?!

What’s worse, nobody is even talking about it in the media?! I am sure, if Szczesny had done the same to Lewandowski, and if it was not given a penalty, everyone in the media houses would have been like Arsenal were really lucky and the refreee helped them, etc!
