Mikel Arteta has praised Nicklas Bendtner for his goal against Hull saying the striker has been working hard to win a place in Arsene Wenger’s side, and also stressed the importance of the entire squad as the team challenge for the title this season.
The Spaniard is, as always, the voice of reason, and while Bendtner still has much to do to convince many, the Lego-haired midfielder was happy to talk up his teammate in the wake of his midweek header.
“He deserves it,” he said. “He has been working really hard. He joined us in pre-season and was rewarded today. He got the chance and got a very good goal.
“The squad players can contribute and help the team be successful. Every member of the squad is important and Nicklas is no different. He is an Arsenal player and while he is here, he is 100% here.
“I don’t think he will be thinking of doing anything different because he likes playing here.”
Arteta was also positive about being part of a squad in which there is genuine competition for places.
“I think it is great. Everybody has to be on their toes and everybody feels important. You are going to need everyone if you are going to achieve something.
“The Christmas period is going to be massively important but with the quality, the ambition and the togetherness that we have I think we are in a good position.”
TGSTEL!
Must be January, we’re polishing off the old bendtner for some cash money
i really wonder, who in their right mind would pay for Bendtner??? WHO!
I’ll pay € 85,000,001 for him
hull? steve bruce seems to really like him
This is the finest photo of TGSTEL…my god that Barnet needs a cutting
lol arteta is himself a squad player
The man who matters – AW – disagrees. Thank god for that.
Are you implying we have a great squad or are you just stupid.
Let’s be civil. In this forum we _all_ believe that we have a great squad, and whether we disagree with Nick B’s attitude at times, he is an Arsenal player and as such he (and all other squad members) deserve our support.
Comment and name work so well together
I was going to leave a suitably witty and scathing response, subtly implying a general lack of both intelligence and class on ebouemind’s part, and possibly involving a comparison to some other person of less than stellar mental ability – but you have already outdone anything I could have written, and in far fewer words. Well done, sir.
Amazing what a goal can do.
Nicklas who always makes sure he scores against Portugal (with his head) making CR7’s face turn red.
For all the personality flaws Bendtner is a good aerial threat and if he plays well and provides a back-up option good on him. I hope he stays quiet and contributes when called upon. As for Arteta using FIFA career mode speak he is an “important first team player”, to label him merely a squad player is a bit insulting given his obvious regular contribution.
Bendtner did his job decently enough, but now that poldi is back, i would think that he would get the back up striker role, far better finisher, has a burst of pace. He is an excellent option to giroud.
Bendtner is a decent player. Its just that he thinks more of himself then he actually is. And Arteta saying with the togetherness we have. It makes me feel happy. The tean are more of a unit now and I’m loving it.
What I love about our club among many other things and what a remarkable work our very own Arsene Wenger has done is this close family-like atmosphere and togetherness that is able to exist in a club of our size, which you rarely see from other so-called big, major clubs. Maybe Barcelona, but that’s only because they have many players who grew up playing together in La Masia.
Wasnt he in ‘there’s Something About Mary’?
Arteta such a professional and great de facto captain. Proper Gooner.
I really want a caption for this photo. It’s like Bendtner just told Arteta he set his car on fire or emptied all his hair gel, while Rosicky’s just having a laugh in the background.
Nah there watching highlights of man city v spuds match.
I’d have thought Arteta would be smiling if that’s what they were watching, but instead he looks absolutely horrified.
Comes down to one thing for Bendtner….respecting the shirt. He doesn’t have to want to be here, and he can still harbor all his bad feelings if he likes. But the one thing I do know, he will get my support if every time he puts the badge on he gives it one hundred. I can’t ask for anything more. At this point in our relationship with the fellow it’s all any of us can ask for. If your out there representing the arsenal, do it with a little pride. He does this and contributes a bit he may not… Read more »
It’s good that we have a plan B when the HFB needs a rest and as long as he wears the Arsenal shirt I will try to support him as much as I can but having said that I still can’t wait to see his back in the summer! Too much disappointments that this guy gave me!
If nick b comes out scores like this at important times then that would be good for arsenal and as well as his own career.
He may decide to leave and join other club but the way he plays from now till the end of the season will determine the quality of the club and size of his pay package.
Of course if Arsenal end up winning a title then he could happily carry that winners medal for life knowing very well that he contributed towards it.
It’s all upto him now.
lest we forget the important goals Christopher Wreh provided in a double run… This proves that everyone (and quite possibly anyone) can play their part in the squad. I would think that the best bet is to keep Bendtner till the summer, he should be motivated to try and get a big move on a free if for no other reasons and the other players seem happy with him. I agree about poldi, but against the more physical/aerial teams I think Bendtner has a use. May I also point out that during his final six months before his loan holidays… Read more »
