A 0-0 draw against United not exactly the result everyone wanted, but after conceding 5 it’s nice to have a clean sheet again.

Meh. ‘Tis all.
Bonus Rating: Chris Smalling for making ‘Dive of the Season’/10
Dude clutched his face, he’s a full head taller than Wilshere and Wilshere wasn’t even looking in his direction, standing still…
Oh fucking Manure shits.
Come on guys…let’s not be fickle and insecure again. WE SUPPORT ONE OF THE CLASSIEST(and very well run) FOOTBALL CLUBS IN THE WORLD. PERIOD. Nobody is perfect and that includes us gooners too. Seriously we(including me) are really a spoiled bunch. Some of us are really spending to much time on Twitter, MOTD, FM 2014, talkSport etc etc..Let’s be realistic. Giroud is not a machine. He is now tired and as a result lacks sharpness .To call him ‘crap’ is an over reaction. As a reminder most of us including me are not fit and eligible enough to play for… Read more »
Aint nobody got time for dat.
Moyes being a very reactive and safety first manager was never going to allow his side to be adventurous agianst us at Emirates. when your opponent is narrow and compact you need pace on flanks (ala Theo) to widen the channels for your midfield runners to make an impact. Santi was always going to start on left and provide passing option by moving inside. Dont’ know what’s up with Luka? Too busy driving London bus 🙂 A point against a side willing to settle for a draw is fair.
Our play was so, so slow going forward. If you give the opposition time to reorganize you will never make the breakthrough. The problem partly rests on playing all midfielders and an immobile striker that is out of form. As usual, these problems should have been addressed in January after we lost Walcott.
Granted, a Moyes team will never have the flare that a Fergie team would, but I never got the impression that ManU was willing to settle for a draw.
I like the guy but Giroud is not currently sharp enough for a team with title ambitions. Let’s hope he finds form soon coz we’re shit out of options.
I thought Bendtner should have got a run up top for the last 10 minutes. Also felt Wilshere should have come off for the Ox rather than Rosicky
He needs 10 chances to covert 1 he is rubbish, how many points have we lost due to his simple missed chances, every game he plays with the exception of last week he misses a sitter, and all he is good for is passing the ball back to a midfielder every time which is now being read by other teams, they know iHis ability is limited and he won’t take them on and turn so they watch the advancing midfielder, also how did arteta get 6.5 he is useless he hardly ever passes a ball forward ,which you need to advance… Read more »
you don’t understand the game Gary, but that’s alright…we still like you.
Well how many matches Giroud should go without scoring when you will say he is poor. We are thinking of winning the title for God sake. One or the other Gooner do say this whenerv we lose or draw that Giroud is tired and blah blah. Then shall we stop thinking about title or is it Wenger who should biught another striker as he should have known making a mistake depnding on Giroud as sole forward for full season. And when it was said we have Poldi another attacking player, well he can’t score from bench
thumbs up if you didn’t read it!
Let the collapse begin
Arsenal drew against a mid table team that deployed bottom of the table defensive tactics. If this is the beginning of a collapse I hope Arsenal “collapse” like Bayern did after losing to Chelsea who played just as defensive!
Fuck off. He’s right. It is a collapse. Like it is every season, for the last few years. The problem with this site is that is populated by people who live all over the world, watch games on their TV and never actually go to the games, but feel qualified to opine.
Finished last season quite strongly and accrued the most points in 2013, not over yet mate. Still in the FA Cup too. It’s mid feb and we’re 1 point behind the leaders, I know it’s been a crappy week but hang on in there!
I really hope we do liverpoo on sunday.
What did she wear?
Yea tell the guy trying to have a positive outlook to fuck off and then tell people unable to go to games (who make up 90% of Arsenal’s and all top team’s fans) that their opinion don’t matter as much as yours. That’s some extremely stupid shit and typifies the opinion of the small but very vocal minority of whiney byotches that follow every top team. Arsenal doesn’t need you at the games or on the blogs, you are a waste of space and should kindly shut the fuck up.
@ shugietodd, your IQ must be below sea level coz your drowning in your own stupidity…what an imbecilic and xenophobic comment…you must be the missing link in the evolutionary chain…..GET BEHIND THEM TEAM AND STOP ABUSING YOUR OWN FANS….moron….
So only 60000+ fans are allowed to have an opinion? Fucking imbecile.
hahah – idiot.
“Arsenal doesn’t need you at the games”
And who are you to speak on behalf of Arsenal football club? They don’t need me specifically, but they do need people that attend, or it would be a pretty shit club wouldn’t it? Not to mention the fact that their would be unpaid staff without the revenue generated.
Shuggie, I live on the other side of the world, have done since before the club left Highbury, where I went plenty before moving overseas.
I’ve not been back to England since I moved, so I’m not an “Emirates tourist”.
I’m not blind to the performances and results of the past two matches, but nor am I giving up on the team yet.
The time for bitching – if it’s needed at all – will be at the end of the season if we finish fourth with no cup victory.
Until then, can we save it and move on?
What the fuck does that mean? Why are you more qualified to pass judgement on arsenal just because you go to the games? Is there something you see at the game that can’t be seen on TV? This site and its community is by far the most insighful intelligent and supportive I have come across. I learn something new everytime i read an article or the comments on it. Sometimes after utd, chelsea, city drop easy points I check out their fan sites to see what their fans are saying about it and its usually a bunch of idiots complaining… Read more »

Eh? If you’re going to ask me what the fuck something means, then be specific about it. I’ve said several things.
I’m finding it amusing to be told that ‘Arsenal doesn’t need me at the games’. Actually, I think you’ll find that they do. They need lots of people to attend.
We have had a great season thus far, makes no sense for anyone to write us off after a small blip. We definitely have a massive say in title race. Whether we watch the bulk of our games on TV or where ever, it does not change the fact that we have been good for the better part of the last 12 months and our position on the Table is a clear reflection of that. Regardless of what happened in the previous seasons it is in moments like this that our team needs us let alone this current crop of… Read more »
We’re no longer an attacking team. Get used to it. And FYI, sideways passing in the final third with no end product is not attacking. Three shots on target in 90 minutes is not attacking. It’s hard to enjoy games when the players are indifferent to what’s happening. I’m astonished that people still think that we play attractive football.
A sign of the times. A few weeks ago every thumb would have been down for this comment!
That doesn’t mean it wasn’t true a few weeks ago. The only difference is that we were winning back then, and only an asshole would want to point out something like that when you’re team is winning so regularly.
your*
I think you should rewatch the goal tally highlights for this season… not attractive? Wilshere v. Norwich for one… Ozil’s debut break assist for Giroud… etc…
We have a disgusting amount of goals only from open play, and remarkably few of them were ‘ugly’ or ‘unattractive.’
We defend without elbows and shoves, but with clean tackles, and EFFICIENT movement.
No, it really wasn’t true a few weeks ago. Short term memory is what I call your ramblings.
It’s been true all season, bar the golden period in October/early November when we put Napoli and Liverpool to the sword.
Perhaps you’ve missed our newfound ability to “manage” our moments where we go all game defending, score a couple in a short period, then go back to defending.
what worries me is that the team looks like the same team from 2 years ago, plenty of possessions but no penetration and bereft of idea in the final third, no players looking like they want to shoot, they only want someone else to take that responsibility.
@Bould’s Eyeliner You are the one with the short term memory, friend. So I suggest you look up the match reports from previous games instead of just watching the highlights. A good goal doesn’t mean we’ve played good that game, or that we’ve created many chances etc. We played a few excellent games, in others we were pretty average. For example: Southampton played as good, if not better at times, than us when we beat them 2-0. An attractive goal doesn’t mean we played attractive football. We’ve been brilliant on a few occasions, but most of the games we’ve just… Read more »
Seriously people, look at our goal difference to know what type of football we’re playing. The teams round us have far superior goal differences and if we do hang in here till the end of the season it could come back to haunt us. Having said that, we’re only in this position because the defence and midfield have tightened up. It’s a difficult one for sure.
There is just too little movement in our play. The player possessing the ball dribbles up and down the outside of the box (preferably Özil or Cazorla) and everbody else is just standing there and waiting.
This is especially foolish since Özil’s strengths are through balls.
I also counted numerous times where Giroud or Wilshere stood on the penalty area marking facing away from goal. How are we supposed to score like this?
Wilshere was more of a stone column today, anyway. Did he move in the last five minutes at all?
Wilshere was crocked about midway through the second half and should have been subbed off at that point. Kind of hard to move when you’ve had your legs hacked to pieces for 90 minutes. Ox should have been on for Wilshere, and when Rosicky left, it should have been for Podolski. We also should have seen either Bendtner or Sanogo on for Giroud when it was obvious he had nothing left in the tank, about 10 minutes from the end.
I just have the feeling that Wilshere has been playing hurt for a few games now.
Until Jack learns to stop running into trouble rather than playing quick simple passes, he’ll just keep inviting himself to get crocked all the time.
It is telling that the only player who has made runs behind is Monreal.. And that Ozil has made 3 such passes in the last 5 games one of which resulted in a goal..
There was an element of the team that likes to keep the ball and wait for the perfect pass, but the team needs a new striker.
Would it astonish you even more to discover that the vast majority of our opponents, pundits, other fans and maybe even the world still think that AFC plays attractive football? And what then, do you think of your own, minority oppinion? Does it mean that you are wiser than the vast majority of us…. or maybe, just maybe, you could actually be wrong….hmmm…. now there’s a thought.
This game really reminded me of last year when Everton with David Moyes came to town. Only a handful of decent chances falling to Giroud which he all fluffed. Why was it not possible to have Podolski on for Giroud, a player that tired can’t give any more no matter how much he trys.
http://www.101greatgoals.com/pictures/arsenals-lukas-podolski-jumps-into-the-drivers-seat-of-a-london-bus-to-avoid-the-tube-strikes/
Ozil is suffering. His entire game has been built around having runners infront of him aka walcott and Midfielders who are willing to get upfront aka Ramsey. We have missed this two, it’s starting to show.
Thought Ozil did all right actually. Wilshire was terrible, Santi not much better. Don’t like the way the MF is setup when all 3 play, missing Rambo big time.
BUT with 12 games left we are 2nd in the table, a point off the top with our fate in our own hands. I challenge anyone on here to say they thought we’d be in that position after the 1st game of the season.
This team needs to win a big league game at some point though. Those 3 weeks in March looking enormous now.
I’m pissed off because the mugsmashers are playing much more fluid confident and aggressive football than we are.
We need to get some enjoyment back in the game – the players are looking uninspired and a bit sloppy at times.
Certainly not welcomed on these boards but the truth is that Rogers is a better manager than Wenger, maybe Wenger is better at managing the accounts but Rogers gets his teams to play attractive, fluid, attacking football. He did it at swans and now he is doing it at pool. If Arsenal do not improve I think we are going to settle into 4th place behind Chelsea, City, and Liverpool, not just this season but next season too. Liverpool have been spending to build, if the get CL watch them spend more. They have a great attack already, add some… Read more »
We will have Ramsey and Kallstrom fit by March time, hopefully in time for Shitty and Chelski
This is a very generous rating of Rosicky. How many times did he make errant passes on offense? I desperately miss our center midfield from the first part of the season:Flamini-Ramsey-Ozil.
At least he tried some more ambitious attacking passes as nobody else was!
Giroud is proving to be a really expensive striker for us and it’s not in a good way! Gutted.
I 100% agree. He’s a dud. He was a dud last year too.
I am tired of seeing him ‘imploring the skies’, ‘sticking his tongue out’, ‘thumping the grass’, or whatever else when he misses a sitter four or five times a game. He’s just a complete dud.
We play much better without him in the team too.
You going to back that last statement up with some facts or are you just gonna spout some nonsense at leave it at that?
Wenger 4.. should have made changes surely he could see giroud wasn’t on form tonight
Wilshere could have come off at 70. I thought he did well but he was clearly knackered and his tired touch nearly cost us.
Ox didn’t work at all either, so you’d have to say in hindsight Arsene really didn’t do a good job on subs this evening. Ozil was fucking magnificent, one of his best performances for me and it really shows a good response of attitude.
Yes, yes he was.
I have to agree with you. I’m as big a fan of Wenger as anyone, but tonight he simply didn’t get it right in the second half. As soon as Wilshere got crocked by that awful tackle (can’t remember who ran into him, but it was ugly), he should have been taken off and Ox put on. Leaving him on when he could hardly move certainly didn’t help the team, plus it ran the risk of his being injured enough to miss a week or two when we really need him.
Remember that season we lost everything in 11 days?
Please … my therapist is still trying to help me forget it.
@Jay, Manu’s collapse is well underway mate.
Maybe Källström will liven things up…
I do say, the plight of Chu young Park has been accentuated by the fact that the oaf that is Yaya Sanogo merited a place on the bench ahead of ol’ Chu. Outrageous! Wenger, I implore you to suckle from the teat of reason once again and put ol’ Chu at least on the bench.
Is there any point in having anyone on the bench? In a match where a clinical finisher and maybe a seasoned international with a great scoring record might have helped, Podolski couldn’t even get 5 minutes!
I agree. A German international sits on the bench, while that fucking French poodle makes a complete wank of every chance that comes his way in front of goal.
Giroud was never good enough to be an Arsenal striker. He’s a dud.
Umm young doesn’t play for us anymore mate he’s on loan at a championship team.
Bonus rating out of 10 on how much we miss Aaron Ramsey – 11/10
I thought Ozil was MOTM today, despite what Micheal Grating-Voice Owen thinks (twat). Not to take anything away from Szez’s save/performance. I agree Ozil probably works best with fast players in front of him but at least he tried much harder. Good to see Gibbs.
We’ll get better again.
In all the lamenting our inability to score I’d completely forgot how well Kos played tonight. Absolute beast. Ozil was brilliant in trying to force the situation the whole game and Cazorla was equally as good in the 2nd half.
Shit i should have taken photos of when we were top of the table….it’s gonna be a while since we return there. This or next season.
What do you really get out of being a miserable nausence? Scratch that, a big fucking troll.
I’m being honest though once we go behind city and chelsea i feel it will become really hard to regain top spot and with Liverpool ( who have no european commitment btw) hot on our heels. i just hope we don’t buckle under pressure.
Brought it upon ourselves, sadly
We’ve got every chance buddy – chin up!
If Jack lost half a point every time he got caught on the ball in the middle today, he’d probably be in minus figures. I thought our fullbacks were our best players today.
Gibbs was outstanding, the Danish commentator thought he was Arsenals best player (at least at one point after he made a cracking tackle and recovery)
Giroud is a decent player, great upper body strength and holds the ball up well, a useful player.
But I’m afraid he isn’t top class to make that difference in the big games. There is lack of competition and Giroud knows he’ll be starting every week, we need to bring in someone more clinical, better movement and who also has more pace. To win titles a team needs a prolific striker.
We’re badly missing Theo and Wilshere had another poor game.
Absolutely. He can’t make the difference alone, which is why people have a go at him. But football’s a team game, and Giroud’s such a wonderful team player. Get him players like Walcott and Ramsey running in behind for him to bounce balls off to and suddenly we see again why we have him in the team. We really do need more of that pace.
And without Walcott and Ramsey….
If I hear that Giroud “holds the ball up well” one more fucking time…. That ain’t why he’s in the team, he’s in the team to score fucking goals, something he is conspicuously fucking bad at.
He can ply his ‘ball holding’ skills elsewhere as far as this Gooner is concerned. I have seen enough. I had seen enough last year. He’s a dud.
Ozil without Ramsey is not as effective. Without Theo too. That he said he was much improved today. Can’t say the same for Wilshere. Was lucky to get away without an error leading to goal if not for Szcz heroics. Arteta is also suffering in Ramsey’s absence. Hell I think we all are at this point.
People really are missing the point…yes Jack wasn’t at his best today but he was getting kicked from pillar to post…mark “brillf*ckingcream” clattenberg, with his let the game flow bullshit didn’t help
Mate look at Jack’s stats. 6 turnovers, 2 dispossessions, 0 tackles, 0 interceptions, 0 passes leading to chances. A pretty bang average 81% pass completion rate too. It was more than just getting kicked from pillar to post. I know he’s a fan favourite but we can’t baby him when he doesn’t perform.
Got caught and knocked off the ball with a little netball nudge in the middle way too much! Come on we’re playing for the Prem!
You forgot to rate a player:
Van Persie 9: Missed 3 clear chances, best Arsenal defender tonight.
I think that at this point VP knows United are fucked so he was willing to let us off because deep down he want Arsenal to win something. For example, the chance where he switched the ball over to his “chocolate” right leg and shot wide when he could have hammered one in with his left.
The truth is that this performance was abject because on another night VP would have scored three.
We need another goalscorer on the pitch, and somebody who can make runs. Really missing Walcott and Ramsey.
I’d try lining up with Ozil on the right, Cazorla in the middle and then put Podolski on the left.
The EXACT PROBLEM with this team right now is that it DOESN’T play tiki-taka. It should, and if it played a tiki-taka style to its potential it would win a lot more games. Look at our players. Wilshere, Cazorla, Ozil, Rosicky, Arteta. Every single one of those players has passing as one of their key attributes. Early in the season we played lots of great fast flowing passing moves with a high tempo, but it just seems to have slowed down since then. The most recent example I can think of when we played that game effectively was when Rosicky… Read more »
Too long fella
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our slowing down of play and passing has coincided with losing ramsey to injury. Yes, he is hardly our best passer what with cazorla and ozil (not to take anything away from him), however whenever he plays he just seems to drive everything forward and speed things up, as well as making those runs which get him into good positions and force us to play the ball forward.
We miss you welsh jesu s<3
Funny how times have changed. I remember everyone going on about how shit Ramsey was and now he’s the one to save us.
That boat sailed long ago @ Fireman Sam…..
My dear sir, in all this hullabaloo, you are forgetting something called the quality of the grass/pitch which has taken a hit in these rainy and snowy conditions.. It has impacted our play in a subtle yet massive way..
Not just us but all passing-based teams with good close control struggle in such pitches (despite all the excess watering)..
Amen bro
Yeah in one week the collapse will be complete I’m afraid – didn’t want it to be that way and was really hoping the lads would do the business tonight but if you can’t beat the worst manure side in years then there really is no hope!!! I am going to avoid football for at least two weeks as i can’t be doing with major disappointments like tonight – feels like the final against Barcelona, awful
It was a draw, and we’re a point off the top!
Yeah, our PL run will not collapse until DEATHRUN 2, next week will be out of the FA cup and effectively out of the CL (that also will be completed during DEATHRUN 2)
what is DEATHRUN 2 you ask?
Mar 11 Bayern (A)
Mar 16 Sp*rs (A)
Mar 22 Chelsea (A)
Mar 29 City (H)
Apr 5 Everton (A)
I woke up at 3:30am to see this frustrated draw. It was most worrying to see giroud missing all those chances.
Can’t we get a Bonus rating for RVP screwing that early chance?
We’re still contenders come on next game!
@godonner giroud is never in form in such games, people talk about his hold up play( which has been rubbish recently) and work rate like that’s so hard to find, diego costa has immense work rate maybe even more than giroud but that doesn’t stop him from being a good goalscorer. Giroud is just so lucky to play for arsenal or are we the ones that have stooped so low because when I look at the team and compare the players to the previous ones(not even that far back) I think the latter is the case is the case, nasri to cazorla, fab… Read more »
Cmon…..Cazorlas a much better player than Fat $amir…and its a different era…what did those players win for us…..back the rasklat team!
Do I not like that!
For fuck’s sake! Let’s not have a funeral for the season already. So many whiny, entitled little shits come out after a less than ideal result. We’re only a point off the pace and get to play both of our main rivals so it’s still in our hands. Not to mention we are still fighting strong in the FA Cup and Champions League. Support the club and this crop of players who all are trying their best to win and have got us to this point in the first place.
That match was bad enough without having to listen to Michael Owens pubescent pie hole – I’m glad other people find him as annoying.
We’re still well in the title race but need a big result against Chelsea.
Too frustrating to watch…..i turned off and listened to radio after RVCunt hit the bar….it was horrid!
Wengers a cunt for not bringing me on.
I would have smashed the back of the net and that Dutch skunk cunt as well.
4 for Wilshere? Wow, he wasn’t great but thats pretty harsh. Also would have had Ozil as my man of the match, he was amazing. Way better than against liverpool. Completely agree about him lacking the players he needs to look at his best.
he was rubbish loosing too many balls, falling at the least contact and whinning about it. he must improve or risk loosing his place when ramsey back. he got lucky to have 4
The worst two players were kept on the field. Every player has an off night now and then and Jack and Giroud certainly had theirs. Wenger should have subbed them at least.
Jack was suffering and should have been subbed but without him there’s even less fire in the team. Sideways only.
I thought the Arteta mistake early on that gave RVP the chance was at least partially the fault of Szczesny, who otherwise played a great game. But nobody seems to agree with me on this
I agree with you.
As much as I enjoy (the sexually confused feelings I get) watching Giroud trott about is there any chance of seeing Podolski start, this decade. He can shoot.
Why didn’t we take a punt on Sturridge!?
He would have came, look at him now.
Water under the bridge, mate, water under the bridge.
But what to do with Giroud? I don’t understand how his finishing is so bad. At least he got more involved today, putting himself about and running the channels. Pace is an issue as well, can’t be getting out run by Chris Smalling and Vidic, and he lacks that extra bit of quality in front of goal that would decide games like this. Shame Podolski hasn’t done more to impress Wenger…
He’s knackered. No competition for places either.
I could never be a fan of giroud as simple as that, the guy is alright when he is on form he plays good fighting all over the pitch and sometimes he scores, but this is arsenal and I’m an arsenal fan for 17 years, an arsenal known for world class forwards starting with wright, bergkamp , henry, even the dutch skunk, it was a joy to watch those players scoring for fun scoring beautiful goals and you known when it’s a matchady you are so exited to see a beautiful goals henry will score or bergkamp, and now with… Read more »
Bonus Rating: AW – 2/10 for not buying enough cover defensively or offensively in this window The crux of the issue tonight was that our players are beyond fatigued. Giroud, Ozil, Sagna all looked really tired and jaded. Why we did not play Podolski as a 65th minute sub in this game is beyond me. As is the fact that we did not play the Ox in a more conventional wing role. When its 0-0 and you know the other team is really not creating much is when you’ve got to try and be more direct and those 2 on… Read more »
How did nobody else notice that Rosicky’s passing was way, way off today. It seemed like every time he touched the ball he made a bad pass with it, especially in the first half. Rosicky is one of my favorite players, but today wasn’t his day.
At least he was trying forward passes as nobody else was.
Everyone who writes the rest of our season off completely as if it’s inevitable it’s all going to go to pieces now, doesn’t deserve to get all excited an happy again if we come out this difficult fixture period still fighting at the top. Momentum changes very quickly it can easily swing back in our favour.
Shea bollocks..
Giroud is crap. Its about time people stopped making excuses for him.Our attacking impetus died everytime he got d ball. His famed hold up play is a myth,he can’t dribble, can’t score;and if its all about d workrate, then surely a defender can also do that high up d pitch.
No he’s not crap. He is currently playing crap. There’s a difference (remember Ramsey).
i love fireman sam, but i hate that kid whose mum runs the shop in the village. that boy is a little shit. i mean, he’s always thinking of himself, eating candies, telling lies, and generally just fucking off. fireman sam, why not let that little bastard get hisself out of his next mess?
and if not, youre a cunt.
Aside from Rosicky, our whole team was shit. If you can’t beat the shitest utd in memory, at home, you can’t win the league.
Dislike it if you want, I was sitting in the East stand tonight and had a pretty good view. Where did you watch it from?
You are an annoyance….making an idiot point twice doesn’t make it any less retarded 2 Shuggietodd…watching the game from the stadium doesn’t make you a better fan..and making such overwhelmingly infantile comments proves just that…..# DO ONE!!
“watching the game from the stadium doesn’t make you a better fan”
Well, I wouldn’t use the word ‘better’, but that kind of sentiment kind of demeans the people who actually pay out their hard-earned. The same money which is spent on players wages.
I agree…. the rest of us AFC fans (the majority of whom do not, FYI, live in England or its environs) should just fuck off and go support our local clubs, right? Why aren’t we all taking planes and coming to EVERY home game anyway? Dont we know how much it would do for international travel and forcing Arsenal to build a bigger stadium to accomodate us??? I mean, all of London would need to be razed to hold us, but so what? At least then we would have earned our right to comment about the team. We are such… Read more »

Would really like to see Podolski/Sanago given a shout up top soon… Was bitterly disappointed with Giroud’s end result tonight, at times anyway. He seems to be someone who flourishes more off of bringing others into play and lifting those around him; I think we really just need someone now that can sit in front of Özil and live off any scrap that comes his way. Maybe that’s Podolski or maybe it’s the player Sanago’s going to be, but right now I’m not convinced it’s Giroud. He’ll score goals and push us on (in truth he’s a sick player and… Read more »
