Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Monday’s clash with Newcastle at the Emirates.
Kieran Gibbs remains sidelined with an ankle problem, but Thomas Vermaelen could return to the squad having missed the trip to the KC Stadium.
Other than that the Arsenal manger is reporting a clean bill of health for everyone else involved in that 3-0 win. There’s no place in the squad for Abou Diaby despite his 45 minute run-out with the U21s in midweek, due to the fact he picked up a ‘little groin problem’.
It’s probably just a reaction to the higher intensity of a game versus training, but the chances of him making a first team return were always slim anyway.
Diaby to come off the bench and get the winner in the final.
You heard it here first……
Been hearing it alot since fools day
That’s our Diaby!
Oh diaby has he injured his injury again?
He’s injured his little groin apparently !
Wenger Knows Best @wengerknowsbest 3m
Diaby in, Diaby out, in out in out shake it all about. Little bit groin niggle and you turn around, that’s what it’s all about.
What about Gnabry? I was hoping he would start games more often.
Fuck me. Am I alone in suspecting the only thing holding Diabys legs together is the scar tissue?
Gutted for Diaby but honestly it’s time to move on. We’ve got the funds to compete with top clubs. It’s time to be active and get some work done. Bring in Pogba and other world class players. No more excuses!
Clearly you have insider info as both Pogba and the club have said he’s not moving anywhere…
Any news on Messi and Neymar?
I think we’ve said a lot of bullshit like that ourselves. Where’s Fab, Nasri or Persie in our starting line up these days?
Diaby again.. What of gnabry is he back yet?
surprise diabys injured again! hes another owen hargreaves.amazing player when fit,but he cant even manage a few games a season.
Did he say he’s injured again or did he say that he’s not fit enough yet?
Owen Hargreaves and amazing player in the same sentence, are you Shhteeve McLaren?
Oh dear! Diaby has a setback again. His body might not be capable of taking the pressure of a competitive game. Feel bad for the guy.
Lets hope Diaby is due to have a fitness test next month radher than the ussual “two to three weeks”
Wtf is going on……annngryyy!!
Best not to even consider Abou till pre-season, unless we absolutely need him. Great player, well worth persisting with while he’s under contract with us, but has to be brought back slowly.
Diaby is injured : c’mon guys, that’s hardly news-flash
To be fair, the news was mainly about Gibbs and Vermaelen.
To all those who are pissed off about the injuries; a win on Monday means it is St. Totteringham’s day!! It has been few years since we celebrated an early St.Totteringham’s day. Cheers all around!!!
Oh Diaby, why did you have to take that throw-in? WHY??
Now it’s all Diaby this, Diaby that as if you have never heard of setbacks. I understand we are all touched because it’s him with the misbehaving groin but that’s hardly something to rekindle talks about “the market” and “ship him out”. We can only hope for the best for him in this situation. …for me, it’s no more about our midfield, his height, runs and all the football thing anymore. It’s sometimes more human to think of him as just a guy who wants to work at Arsenal as a player. It leaves me with less to cry about.… Read more »
I think why people are talking is that this injury occurred while returning from an injury in which he picked up returning from another injury.
I doubt Abou will play a single minute this season, I just hope he doesn’t pick up another injury in the off season as that really would be the last straw.
TV5 is as good as the 2 left backs in that position. So, while hoping Gibbs returns soon, he won’t be sorely missed.
‘Little groin problem.’
Arsenal like to play injuries down. Two weeks = five months etc. A thigh strain = four months. I dunno what he’s done. One of the following probably.
1) Over stretching muscles in training after a long lay off.
2) Being barged/body checked in training.
3) He rubbed some deep heat into his leg after training. He then went for a wee. He forgot to wash his hands and as he held his pride and joy, London Colney was shrouded with Diaby’s screams.
Diaby is like that old ’71 Jeep CJ5 that is for sale down the road. You see it, you want it, In fact you’ve wanted it for a very long time. You picture it making your life so much more livelier and better, but in truth, you realize it’s parts are too rusty, broken down and brittle to actually accomplish what you would ask of it. The shiny ” Like A New Summer-toy” polish only hides what lies beneath. Something not to put a lot of trust and security into. Unfortunately, it is time to hit the Auto trader and… Read more »
A little groin is no reason to keep someone out of the team.
Poor diaby… 🙁 he’s a great player and doesn’t deserve this kind of punishment 🙁
Could’ve been worse, he could’ve injured his big groin.
Coat.
Gibbs is starting to worry me with his injuries. Monreal should start as he has the pace. Vermaelen is probably more disciplined positionally at LB bc he isn’t quite as fast.
Diaby will worry me if he isn’t injured. I just don’t see us keeping him past the contract. he is a luxury we can’t afford now on infrequent appearances.
Diaby, my prayers are with you. You’ll come through this once and for all.
Oh Diaby, Diaby… “Where have all the flowers gone”
