Sagna:( You will be missed.
It really feels strange that Sagna (Mr. Dependable) wont be here next season. We will miss out on more than just a good RB. His 100% commitment and no-nonsense attitude was immense during each of his 7 years at arsenal. I just hope his potential moves to other clubs breaks down and he agrees the deal given by arsenal. I know. I know that’s a long shot.
He surely will be.
Saw him yell at Jenko a cople of times. That is exactly what Jenko needs, someone to mentor him untul he is ready.
And how good and solid Sagna’s tackle was, when some Norwich player sprinted through on the right side of our penalty area.
Sign Sagna up! (as a Centrehalf) Kos and BFG can’t play every game, they could form a rotation with Sagna. Wenger clearly doesn’t think Vermalen is good enough at the whole defending thing. Admittedly having only 3 centrehalves in the squad is risky but which top centrehalf would want to come to Arsenal to be #4 and basically be our next Emiliano Viviano? Pay Sagna what he wants and… Game 1: Kos / BFG Game 2: Kos / Sagna Game 3: Kos / BFG Game 4: Sagna / BFG Game 5: Kos / BFG Game 6: Kos / Sagna Game… Read more »
I guess you know he wants 500k per week and the sacrificing of a reserve team player in the directors box on each solstice!!!!!!
That works when trying to cope with player fatigue on FIFA. But as a footballer and looking at team chemistry, do you really want to go into one game knowing you’ll play right back, the next in centrehalf (in front of Mertesacker), the next as sweeper (since Koscielny is faster), then the next on the bench? Would be slightly destabilising…
Agreed the away fans were awesome.
Diaby looked like he was a little bit moved by the reception. Beautiful to see
I’m a fat, bald hairy arsed bloke. I would like us all to live in caves and fight for our territory. Despite this, I was a little teary eyed when the fans kept singing hisname and he applauded them with tears in his eyes.
I fuckin’ love Diaby.
Superb comment.
well said mate, well said.
A woman on the train back to London said she was cheering ironically and implied that he wasn’t a good player and just sat on his ass collecting his wages. If she hadn’t been surrounded by a bunch of shouting #ladz treating the train car as their own personal piss-up palace, I’d have instructed her to watch his performance at Anfield last year and reassess how much she thinks she knows about Abou Diaby and how she presumes to greet his return. Really fucked me off. Anyway. It was great to see him back. And amazing to see Jenko’s first… Read more »
Most fans meant it. Don’t worry about some bint on a train mate.
Indeed. People take the piss out of the ‘like a new signing’ comment by Wenger, but I completely agree with him on that front. He is a brilliant player when fully fit!
Plus I think for most of the time being injured he refused to take his salary. Haven’t heard that before with anyone else
The away fans were amazing yesterday, it’s a shame they can’t be as great as that when it’s a game that actually matters. I mean the away fans are always fine but that was the best they have been this season.
Arseblog you’re wrong about Fabianski, it is not likely his last game…he will be starting the final next week.
10/10: Blogs for the 2013/2014 blogging. Top notch.
Still one more to go though!
I’ll add to that, Last Arse. I discovered this site sometime around the start of this season, and I have been thoroughly impressed and entertained by it ever since. It is absolutely the best blog I’ve ever read, anywhere, on any subject. Furthermore, the commenters on here are uniformly (well okay, almost uniformly) intelligent, well-informed, and articulate. Even the ones for whom English is obviously a second or third language are articulate in English!
So yes – infinity out of ten for Blogs! Please keep up the good work!
Diaby gets a ten from me, because he knocked John Terry out once
An 11 if he does it again
Added to my list of hopes for next season
Look we can poke fun at Mark Hughes and Stoke all day. But we shouldn’t drop to their level. Even for a special case like &*&() John Terry.
Wishing concussion on another human, even if it is a pseudo-human cunt alien, is a no.
Blogs, please step into this.
Haha it’s john terry, mate… Even Blogs won’t care. In fact, he especially won’t care. So many people have wanted to knock John Terry out, but only one man has had the honour. Diaby Diaby DIABY!
Wish Diaby the best next season. Still hvae high hopes for him. And with him fit, a repeat of the midfield crisis will not happen next season. Not to mention, more competition, more form.
Well he wasn’t just knocked out, you know like in a comedy bar fight or something. You can see the kick by Diaby on Youtube. But I remembered Diaby’s reaction after that kick. I remembered the reaction of the players on both side. There was no angry shoving etc. Everybody just stopped and cleared out of the way because when JT dropped, it felt like he was actually dead or something. You see all those dicks like Ryan Shawcross and Dan Smith, breaking legs and thinking, hey all fairs you know, I got my red card and that’s it. That’s… Read more »
Lol you gotta chill out man.
And that’s how it rumbles folks. Great to see Abou, I had fingers crossed that he doesn’t get knackered. It was Awesome what the fans did. COYG!
FA Cup back home, pretty please…
How good was Diaby’s control on the ball today – fingers crossed he stays fit for ALL of next season
He had me concerned back top of our box for a second. Then I remembered who it was again. How the man never loses that control and composure after so many disruptions is impressive.
I think we need more than fingers crossed for Diaby to stay fit for a whole season, the same goes for most of our players lol.
What a cracker from Rambo. Also really chuffed for Jenkinson, a lifelong Gooner to get his first goal for Arsenal. And that reception for Diaby was great. Now to carry this momentum to Wembley, stick 5 past Hull and then stick a sword up Jose ‘Specialist in Failure with no Trophies’ Mourinho;s butt, enroute to winning the FA Cup. COYG
Keown on Final score “you,d have to now say he’s The Ordinary One” classic
Jose Mourinho, August 25 2013: “You won’t have to fire me, I’ll quit if I don’t win trophies.”
Hope the hypocritical cunt lives up to his word. But it’s a forlorn hope, ‘coz it’d be the first time if he did.
That’s his first league goal. He got 1 in the FA Cup last season.
I think not. Are you thinking of the League Cup match at Reading? The 4th Arsenal goal at Reading was credited by some to Jenkinson after the linesman did not appear to spot Walcott’s shot had crossed the line, and Jenkinson then put it in the back of the net; but the referee clearly blew before Jenkinson’s shot, so it was definitely Walcott’s goal.
It looked like the ref might have been about to blow the final whistle just as Jenko puts the ball in, so thank god he did! The goal was given to Walcott in the end though and rightly so.
I know pre season goals don’t count but don’t forget his Ibrahimovic style wonder goal goal vs Koln in 2011 on his debut no less.
Ramsey seems to win us most of our games we need him fit for a season… i felt so upset watching sky sports news when City had won the league… cant say i feel to happy right now more down and full of regret
“Abou Diaby- He’s fit when he wants!”
Brilliant away fans!
Great goal by Ramsey! Loving jenkinsons failed knee slide as well lol! Sagna thanks for a solid 7 years!
If Ramsey wasn’t fit and playing, there would’ve been no one for Giroud to find with a pass. That is what Ramsey adds. Honestly, there was not a single Arsenal player other than Ramsey and Giroud who was within 30 yards of goal. I don’t know if that’s a criticism of the the team or just a compliment to Ramsey.
Criticism of the team. Though to be fair if Santi was playing, he would’ve been there too. Sometimes we do not have enough players in the box to just kill off crosses…
Ramsey is one of the main ‘Cogs’ but we can beat the middle/lower teams without him and/or one or two of the other ‘Cogs’. The problem is we can’t afford to have Theo, Jack, Ozil, Santi (etc etc) missing at the same time like we have at times this season.
10/10: Jenko’s Celebration.
4 weeks ago we had suffered a horrible month, everyone was knocking the team and the manager. We could easily have folded, top marks for getting their shit together and finishing strongly.
Definitely a big thank you to Blogs and the Arsenal Gentleman for keeping all of us up to date. There’s been some highs and lows this season but not having fourth and an FA cup semi final to look forward to makes me feel like there’s been some improvement this season. COYG
Holy shit, I’ve just seen the video of Ramsey’s Goal. Fucking hell, the noise it makes when he volleys it. Can’t help but smile at the Norwich fans who just stand there and clap!
Off to Wembley now, you fucking fabulous team.
So true the away fans. Honestly tuned in mostly to hear them sing. The Ramsey goal and Jenko celebration and lack of injury scares made it most enjoyable.
10/10 to blogs. Love coming here after matches. Go on, Arsenal. On to Wembley.
Did I hear Aaron Ramsey’s name being sung to the tune of hymns?! Welsh Jesus hath risen!
DI-A-BY!! DI-A-BY!!
I gave Jenks a 10 for that brilliant celebration.
Was a bit meh with this match, a by product of having nothing to play for I suppose. My only reaction to the Ramsey goal was admiring the actual goal it self rather than the usual celebrating that we scored. I celebrated hard with Jenks though, genuinely happy for him.
Gotta love the readers giving Diaby MOM.
Watching on the telly, when Rambo celebrates a number of Norwich fans behind the goal are applauding. They look a bit grim-faced but fair play to them for acknowledging an astonishing strike.
Sorry ChrisM, you’d already made my point!
Finally the bonus points go our way!
It’s close now…a massively improved Arsenal going forward with a trophy…COYG please!
Diaby deserves a 20 out of 10 for just being able to walk again let alone play football in the PL again. Helluva talent and Helluva man.
Jenko celebrated like a fan. Loverly to see. Diaby got a ten from me.
In fact, I think if I had ever scored a goal for Arsenal I would’ve done something like this…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XOL8o-3TZ8
How far did Rambo run for his goal? Started at least 15 yards inside our half. His contribution is immense.
This season our points average against the bottom 11 was 2.68, better than the invincibles average of 2.45. However our average against the rest of the top nine was 1.25, the same as it was last year and worse than the two years before that. This hugely underlines the argument that sides with enough quality know how to set up against our style of play that is so efficient against the bottom clubs. The progress that’s been made in the last couple of years has been more an improvement in being more efficient despite our limitations rather than overcoming those… Read more »
Not convinced. Of course we need to continue to improve against the better teams, and we can’t be getting rolled over like we did in this notorious four away games. But we do still hold fear for these rivals. we’ve beaten Liverpool twice, spuds three times. It kills us all that we didn’t take more from united but I think the dumb luck of the fixture calendar played a part on both occasions. There have been pretty fine margins in the games drawn and i honestly believe Pellagrini’s title winning decision was opting to shut up shop and take the… Read more »
It’s quite clear we don’t hold any fear for the big clubs otherwise they wouldn’t have blitzed us within the first half of those games. The fact they didn’t beat us at home was because they were happy with sharing the points, as the results away have shown that when they wanted the points they got them with ease. The clutching of straws from some fans. and more worryingly the manager is a major obstacle to achieving lasting success. Talking about things like we were decent at home or if it wasn’t for injuries, well let me tell you those… Read more »
3 quick points
1) Bottom 11 plus top 9 plus us (we can’t play against ourselves) = 21 teams.
2) We are definitely not the finished article but this year is better than last year and if injuries allow us to be better every year on year we will eventually become the most successful team in the world.
3) we’ve had too many injuries and much too often at the really wrong time (never a right time).
If the timing had been better we would have won more (Not all!).
What odds is Ramsey for WPOTY next year? I’m deadly serious.
Can’t happen.
You have to be a native Spanish/Portuguese/Latino speaker to be considered.
I always feel away fans don’t get the credit they deserves. It must be difficult to organise travel over the weekends, find accommodation, time, tickets etc. even for dead rubbers like the one today. Hats off to them.
Good to see a strong no-nonsense finish to the season that sets us up nicely for the long awaited cup final.
Well done lads!
Come on you gunners lol loving this end to the season and seeing diaby back is awesome
I wish our home support was As good As the away support. At the Emirates we often get outperformed by the away supporters. Especially if we go one goal down. It is to easy to silence our home support. But our away fans on the other hand keep singing and supporting our team regardless of the score.
We need to address this issue imo. The 12th man can be a deciding factor in inspiring our players into a comeback and push on. I think the support was better back at Highbury.
We need to learn this from Dortmund fans. Watched their games recently and gave me goosebumps hearing them rattling the entire stadium with songs and drums. Crazy stuff
I agree but it’ll be difficult as their ticket prices are much lower than ours and they have ‘standing’ areas (not ‘all seats only stadium). I think that for league games they pay less than £15 to stand and the most expensive seat (ex VIP boxes etc) is under £50. I lived in Munich in 2001 and went to the old Olympic stadium to see Bayern a few times and it was much cheaper there as well (can’t remember how much). On the down side, their league is generally poor compared to the PL as there’s only a Max of… Read more »
I’m thoroughly disappointed in this blog. There’s not been one picture of a bottom, just a lot of people talking about football. I shall be cancelling my subscription, and instead spend my money on a copy of Titbits.
Ozil has barely put a foot wrong since hes been back, maestro! and have you seen me going on about giroud? no that’s coz i like, i like what i lve been seeing.
Now hows about a trophy, would be real nice eh?
Is there only me that thinks it will be extremely poor form if Fabianski is dropped for the final?
He’s been phenomenal every time he’s worn the shit this past two seasons and for Wenger to drop him in favour of Scsz would be downright wrong.
Again today he was cracking and to be fair so were the rest. I’m not even going to mention Diaby, love the guy.
he will not play in the final as he wants out whearas Szczesny is a here net season and wants a life contract while we’re at it. plus fabianski isn’t that big of a player to be given a send off. so goodluck elsewhere genuinely!
I actually think that Fabianski playing today was a sign that he will play the final – Wenger giving him a run out before the game to get his eye in.
There is no reason to ‘rest’ your GK the week before a final. Mertesacker I understand resting given the amount of football he has played in an outfield position, but Wojo doesn’t need a rest.
A lot of love for Sagna. But I think it’s him that will miss out.
Come on Arsenal!!
Glovedhand…. I think the word for their style of play is ‘wet’.
“Oh no! It’s Arsenal… We’d better sh*t ourselves!”.
Hey guys, I’m a police officer and Gooner from Norwich. I got a chance to work at the game today and I’ve got to say that I thought the away support today were fantastic, the loudest I’ve heard at the games I’ve worked this season. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and we had no real trouble at all.
I am thinking that all the negative pooh pushers have got nothing to moan about today
All positive diaby makes it back , Rambo scores magnificent goal bring on hull
LETS PUT THEM TO THE SWORD AND BRING ON THE START OF YET ANOTHER ARSEN WENGER ERA CULMINATING IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The problem as I see it at home is the number of tickets which go to one off visitors who (may) have no real affiliation to the club and no interest in cheering on the team as they’re there for the spectacle. Hence the atmosphere can be a bit flat. This is something that is difficult for the club to address
Question: wasn’t this match important for Sczeny? Something to do with getting the golden glove award.
Scz already got it – just need to share with Cech
10/10 – the chuckle I got from hearing “that’s why you’re going down” after a hopelessly optimistic effort in the first half. Then again in the second.
Forgive me if there were more but I don’t usually listen to the crowd lol
10/10 liverpool for not winning the title and so ruining the last MOTD of Alan Hansen .Shame we have to watch shearer from now on
Shame that.
One season full of gloating by the Liverpool dominated media alumnni…cancelled.
That twit Phil McNulty was just going on about Liverpool sealing the title.
He could not understand why Arsenal should celebrate beating Wigan.
Well lets show him why next week. We need to keep our heads together and beat Hull for the FA cup.
As the City fans had it, no one will remember second or third. Neither fourth but we also have a trophy in the offing. Wembley anyone?
Diaby, sublime control. What a midfield addition he will be if he can stay fit next season. LANS Arteta, Flamini, Diaby Ramsey, Jack, Rosicky Ozil, Santi, Poldy Walcott, Ox, Gnabry Why do people still keep insisting we need more midfielders? Try keeping Fabianski and Vermaelen happy? Vermaelen is going for sure. he can’t seem to force his way in to rotation with meterscielny. even Sagna starts ahead of him. Sagna is also a departure. Fabianski has a 50-50 chance he may stay. i think it telling who starts next week. If Szsc starts, Fab is gone. Then we know we… Read more »
I love Arteta and would like him to stay. But we need an upgrade. He works fine for 80% of the season. It is the 20% against the top clubs that press incredibly well where he struggles. I saw the Bayern game and even at 1-1 it wasn’t pretty. For Poldy, I am not convinced either. I think with his talents, he need to play as a 2nd striker. At Arsenal in our 4-3-3, it is too much of a task as a striker/midfielder hybrid. In order to be an efficient attacking outlet on our left, he needs to be… Read more »
People say we need new midfielders because some of them aren’t good enough. Please see the league table of evidence of this.
With the exception of perhaps Ramsey which of our deeper midfield players would any of the other top teams in the world want to buy?
Arteta – No
Flamini – No
Diaby – No
Wilshere – probably not
All good players but just not good enough. We need better to win the league.
I think Vermaelen was injured yesterday because he wasn’t even on the bench when he normally is…
Folks don’t seem to mention Jenks scoring as Sagna almost imminently moves on. COYGuns!
what a way to end the season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if only our boys were fit for most part of this year. well we need to start preparing for next season by signing new players.
