Arsenal have been drawn against Southampton in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
The game will take place in the week commencing Monday, September 22 and means former Saints players Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers will face their old club.
Southampton are now managed by Dutchman Ronald Koeman who provided us with some stern Champions League tests during his time at Ajax and Benfica.
Time for the young guns to shine
Where are they shining, Emirates or St. Mary’s?
Emirates
We’re facing Southampton… or whatever is left of them
They’re still good.
As long as it’s not MK dons, I am happy. 😉
MK dons will have to step it up now that they face more proper teams like Bradford
^This comment wins today. Can’t stop laughing.
not bad
Of course we’re facing Southampton and not some small team that no one has ever heard of. We’re Arsenal after all, we just don’t do things the easy way.
We’ll get MK Dons for final for sure :p
Also he managed PSV when they knocked us out of the last 16 of the champions league, if I remember correctly it was because Hleb gave away a free kick which led to their goal, and thus our elimination.
I remember that Alex was a beast in both ties, we were the best team but he made all our attacks just meaningless. The next year he was leaving for Chelski…
Bring it on!
Hopefully Wenger gives Cambell the start for this one.
Home or away?
We’re at home.
The team that puts 4 past a mid table premier league side with the largest budget in the division worries me way more than the team that had all its players poached and now has to bed more of a squad than the scum did last year.
Who did Manchester United get?
The Dutch Moyes.
Spain’s 37th best central midfielder.
Mark my words…..Milton Keynes Dons will win the UEFA Champions league!!!
With the trophy monkey off our back, i’m looking forward to seeing players rested and some youngsters blooded
Who knows, Wenger might even remember the existence of a certain Serge Gnabry!
I agree with Aedan, time to let some youngsters excite us again in this competition and get some of the dust off some other squad players. We need to rotate the squad to stay fresh for better competitions.
He’s not forgotten, he’s injured
Gnabry is injured and out indefinitely, and I’m sure Arsene remembers that.
Aren’t they all?
I hope Wenger let’s alot of the youngsters play like he allways used to. We ended the trophy drought now, so no need to be gunning for the Carling Cup when it is such a nice oppurtunity to give the youngsters a run out to test their mettle and gain some experience from a big stage. 🙂
What’s going on with Afobe?? Anyone knows?
Good chance for the likes of sanogo, Campbell, gnabry, zelalem, bellerin, diaby (?) to get a run out against good opposition.
Nice chance to test ourselves against Liverpool B. Hope Akpom and Zelalem start.
Southampton…or what is left of them? Yes I agree many have left – but we cannot underestimate their achievements with youth. Look at where they have all gone. Most are performing damn well in their respective clubs… we have 3 of them. I believe it should be an easy win…but for their players…and younger ones especially…to shine against Arsenal will really light their careers. We shouldn’t take it for granted. And cripes the Team were amazing against besiktas – showed their hunger and desire.
Gutted, could have done with an easy draw. Harder than ever to get games for the kids now so COC is really important, hopefully they can turn up with a top performance….
