Kieran Gibbs has hailed new boy Alexis as an ‘animal’ in training and says his attitude is exactly what the Gunners need to claim more silverware this season.
The Chilean has impressed his teammates with the intensity of his work since his arrival, something Gibbs believes should be an example that star status doesn’t preclude you from hard work.
“When you face Alexis in training, you know it’s not going to be the best day you have as a defender,” he said. “He’s a top player and he will definitely bring something extra to us.
“He’s like an animal in training and on the pitch. He’s everywhere. He never stops running. That’s what we need. We can’t just sign a superstar and think we’re going to win everything. It’s about attitude as well.”
The left back also had words of praise for Mesut Ozil who showed similar humility when he joined last August.
“Mesut didn’t have an arrogance about him. He came in like he still had something to prove, like he wasn’t world class already.
“And Alexis has the same mentality.”
The former Barcelona man is being tipped for a start today at Wembley as the Gunners face Man City in the traditional season opener which isn’t actually a season opener but really the last game of pre-season.
Hurry up season ffs.
It starts today in my view COYG!
I agree. While I completely see how this is viewed by many as a preseason game, when it comes down to it it’s Arsenal v Man City with a trophy on the line. A win would be a fine way to build some momentum for the season. Although I suppose the lineups themselves (restricted as they may be) will show us just how seriously this game should be taken. Either way COYG!
Series A to La Liga to EPL. I have no doubt he’ll adjust quickly to the English game.
COYG!
Time to unleash the animal.
I’m really looking forward to today’s game as I believe Wenger will be putting out his first 11 (just missing on the German boys) and I’m excited as to what Alexis can show us today.
Feels fooking good to be a Gooner right now.
not a bitey animal too, rather a bunny saving and dog loving one..
Won’t be a first XI. Giroud won’t start. Hoping Campbell starts and Bellerin gets a go at some point and maybe a bit of Zelalem.
Well, it isn’t that clear that Giroud is in the first XI. Even if you disregard Alexis, I think Sanogo may have his shout on the CF position.
The boss has clearly got to to factor in that no Sanogo means no party when decided who starts up top. !
What’s great to hear from all AFC players and manager is….. “this is not a friendly”
They talk like this is an opportunity for a marker in the sand, early doors!
I really believe we are up for this and are going to give them, and the other big wallets something to think about!
Starting today!
COYG!!
Told you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s not get carried away…actually yes, let’s get fucking carried away!!!!
COYG!!!!!!
He plays on the left, he plays on the right… Alexis Sanchez, knows Tottenham are site.
Ruined that at the end by mis-spellink! 🙂
So did yuoou…
Ha ha
We should treat this game like a friendly. And we must always humiliate our opponents in any friendly.
I doff my cap…
Agent: Alexis and the Arsenal
Mission 1: Humiliate them all
Target1: Nasri
Target2: Samir
Target3: Samir Nasri cunt
Flam is the “target man”
“Toothless” animal please. My first reaction when I looked at the pic.
Still can’t believe Gibbs wasn’t taken to the World Cup. Only available English left back who’s actually played in champs league. And played bloody well too. But na hodgeson wanted ‘youth’ so he ignored him and took shaw. Played baines anyway. Can’t wait for the season to get going and forget about the wc altogether. Red army!
R U Man U?
Looking at our squad now is like a wonderful dream.
Genuinely excited. We need to adapt our mental strength and efficientcy in the games with the top five. As long as we go out on our shield this season I will be happy no matter what. COYGs!!!!!!!
A wee bit off topic. Am I the only one counting Flamini as a versatile defender? He’s done it before.
Let’s fucking destroy them. Then show the rest what we’re really capable of COYG
Is it me or are the ads slowing the site down?
For all the exciting attacking ability Sanchez will bring to this team, I think the most valuable thing he will bring to this arsenal team is quick, high pressing and hopefully it will encourage the others to do the same.
Arsenal have incredible depth now, I see a crushing attack force, with a midfield and defense that can stop any offense opponents have to offer. And I think ospina will take the number 1 spot too.. Wilshire needs to pick up his socks, and ozil get his reputation as the assist king back.. I see arsenal dominating this season should all be @ their best. COYG
Can’t fucking wait for our humble super signings Özil and Sanchez to link up. The thought of it makes me salivate!
Remember man city will be expecting the wing attacks surely gunners can win today and follow a trophy after trophy season coyg
One thing I love about this guy that I noticed when he played for Farça is how much of an impressive physical specimen he is. He just radiates confidence and power standing around with his ridiculously muscly thighs and Spartan posture. And he seems from pictures to not give a fuck that so much pressure is on him. I mean that audacious El Classico goal backs that up. He looks mighty, basically. I hope he can be our monster CF. Can’t wait for the season to start.
Anybody know how good a keeper Cabellero is?
We’re winning Sp*rs are shite living in a Sanchez paradise.
