Championship side Brentford have confirmed the signing of young Arsenal attacker Jon Toral on a year-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old signed from Barcelona in 2011 alongside Hector Bellerin and has climbed through the Gunners Academy ranks to represent the club at under-21 level.
Toral hasn’t yet featured in a competitive game for the first team squad although Arsene Wenger did play the teenager for 45 minutes against Boreham Wood and gave him a run out in the recent friendly defeat against New York Red Bulls.
Speaking about the deal for Toral, Brentford boss Mark Warburton noted: “Jon is a very talented attacking midfield player. He is strong and powerful.
“He’s come through a couple of nasty injuries, it is great to see him fully fit and he can now start to show his undoubted potential.
“We are thankful that Arsenal have given us this opportunity. Jon has come here to push hard for a place in the squad and the first XI. He is an excellent addition to our group.
“This is a sign of the relationship we have with Arsenal and our continuing desire to add quality to our playing squad.”
Last season Chuba Akpom spent a month on loan with the Bees while versatile midfielder Nico Yennaris moved there last January on a permanent basis. Wojciech Szczesny also spent a season on loan with the West London side in 2009/10.
Buena suerte, Jon. Hope you come back to the Arsenal better and stronger.
Have to say, I thought he was the worst player on the pitch in both preseason games. His passing and ball retention were abysmal against NY. Hope he comes back a better player
Good luck to him. He always comes across well in interviews and such. Seems like a top lad. His time is starting to get a bit short to make it now so I hope this move helps to get him in to gear.
What a toral waste of time.
torally agree
These puns are truly intoralable….
I’m really having a moral crisis here thinking about thumbing up Mark Hughes…
*toral crisis
thanks 🙂
Nice one Ronley… Maybe I can Jon this pun game
Apparently you cannot.
I hope he does well there. First team experience will do him good
Guess a few words of encouragement will surely help even if he does not make the Arsenal first Team in future. Arsenal had seen something that’s why he was in our youth academy and he may not be able to live up to the expectation. Acerbic words don’t help even for a performing lad.
#RESPECTALLGOONERS
Good luck, Jon.
Underwear floral.
Balls hard as coral.
Fucking hell, fucking hell, shit, it’s Jon Toral.
Omg Bendtners got a job. Slacking Arseblog News, slacking. Should be headline news.
I immediately googled him to find out where he’d ended up. One of the things I discovered is that he has a son named Nicholas, which I find to be hilariously surreal.
Good move for all involved. Hard to guage quality without a run of competitive fixtures, and the competition for a spot.
Unlike most people i rate this guy highly, which him and Bellerin I think they are the future, I jus hope we don’t get rid of him too soon.
This is torally the best decicion for him, to jon Brentford i mean.
19…i thought he was still like 17.
fingers crossed you dont end up like merida.Make us proud
