Walcott not far away, but rules out Sp*rs comeback

Theo Walcott has refused to be specific about the date of his comeback in the wake of reports that he was targetting a return to action against Sp*rs at the end of this month.

The England winger injured his cruciate ligament in a game against the old enemy in January, and playing against them in his first game would have been a nice bit of closure, but he says there’s nothing set in stone just yet and he ruled out facing them completely.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said, “I haven’t put a specific date or looked at a game yet. I think there was rumours of me coming back for the Spurs game, which is definitely not going to happen, that’s for sure.

“It’s hopefully now only a matter of weeks before I’ll be back playing. There may be one or two under-21s matches I’ll be involved in first. I’m just looking forward to getting out there and playing again.”

Walcott also hailed the captures of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, both of whom add real pace to an Arsenal team that was, essentially, reliant on Walcott alone for that weapon.

“These players are very, very fast,” he said. “They will fit the bill perfectly. Alexis has settled in very quickly, Danny is a good guy, I have worked with him with England. Danny is a hard worker. He always puts his heart on the line.”

And with worries that the cruciate problem might affect his speed, Theo is looking at it in a much more positive light.

“I hope to be quicker,” he said. “I’ve been working very hard. You’ve got to look at these injuries as a bit of a blessing at times. I’ve never had the opportunity to work on the strength in my legs and with that I think hopefully I should be quicker and stronger. So that’s what I’m looking forward to.

“I’m all about positive thinking. When you think about injuries, you don’t want to be all negative about it. If you’re negative or down in the dumps, then it’d take longer.”

LAD!!!

BillyBatts

Only just noticed that star of Bethlehem above Theo’s head. The mark of the Welsh Jesus hath bestowed him miraculous healing powers. Praise be to Aaron.

Alexstratz

Well it’s not like we’ve been over reliant on his speed until now. Even if he is slower, he’ll probably still be one of the fastest in the league.

Arsenal Wenger

Loved the facetime of him with the guys at the final of the FA Cup.

“I’m trying to FaceTime Feo!!!!!” I miss Jenks & the bantz

Can’t wait!!!

geolgau

I am absolutely thrilled about this!

chambergooner

Just hope he stays fit….rest will be history!!! #COYG

AWW

Thinking about a front three of Alexis, Walcott and Welbeck, the only thing that I can say is:

AWW…….

WengersNoseHair

Now imagine Rosicky as no.10, The Ox as CM, and Bellerin at RB.

Arsepedant

Every time I try to imagine that line-up, by the time I focus on where it’s standing, it’s forty yards away.

A slower walcott is like still two shades too fast for most defenders.

Throw in sanchez, welbeck, campbell and gnabry and well, the opposition better be on bikes.

rossi88

I thought they said end of August he’d be back….now its not even end of September….ffs. damn you injuries

True Red

No, they said he’d be back in training at the end of August. After an injury like Theo had, the last thing you want to do is rush him back.

Be patient

Vrgt

Alexis, Welbeck, Walcott. Just imagine that heat map after every match.

Pubis Moan

WAW! Hurrh. Good god, y’all

Bro

The camera man will be tired !!!!

Arsepedant

That heat map will set fire to the paper it’s printed on.

Cliff Bastin

Due to Newton’s Law of Relativity he’ll probably come on as a sub on the 81st minute when we’re 2-0 up and have a certain gesture for the sp*rs fans.

Einstein’s Theory Of Relativity…

Tenzo (Theo's secret lover.)

Finally!! Some Theo news!! I don’t know how much longer my inappropriate feelings for him would have lasted if I was starved for much longer. On another note, when Theo comes back to full fitness, we will actually have so many different combinations, it will be difficult to plan against our attack. Theo can spearhead the attack, as can Alexis, Lukas and Danny. Olivier is a target man himself. That’s five guys who can play as a CF, three of which have pace, one is a clinical finisher with a jack hammer of a left foot, and the other gorgeous,… Read more »

Gooner from Pretoria.

Not to forget Rosicky, chambo we got sprinters for days…

Tenzo (Theo's secret lover.)

And Bellerin; he broke Theo’s record.

Arseblood

Just hope we are not adrift of leaders by the time he’s back. If we get 8-10 points behind, we can forget the league….and we’re already four points off.

MTZ

And we’ll likely face City, Spurs and Chelsea before he’s fully fit. We are entering a crucial period, so let’s hope for the best.

Tenzo (Theo's secret lover.)

My thinking is, if we’re going to lose any points against either City or Chelsea, better now than mid season when we’re flying high. I’d rather build momentum than rebuild it, you know? Of course, I’m not disputing that we will beat them, but last season was only a few months ago.

Black Hei

Is it just me or is the media tide slowly turning against Man United and bigging us up?

MTZ

This whole Welbeck thing has been hilarious. I’m hoping he scores a crazy amount of goals, so it escalates even more.

Ormey88

Can’t wait to have him back in a front 3 of Alexis-Welbeck-Walcott… Mouthwateringly good!

Bobs

Ps : when all are fit(HAH), i’d love to see a sprint off between sanchez, the ox, theo, gnabry, campbell and bellerin, then again knowing our luck, all will pull their hammies and tear their groins at exactly the same time.

Dreamer

Don’t forget about Chuba Akpom who was just confirmed as the fastest

Aaron

over 10 metres

welshman

Or one BFG step…

Javis

It will be a huge plus to have Theo back ASAP, brilliant movement off the ball and his final ball has improved immeasurably over the last two seasons.

I don’t ever see him as an out and out CF but he drifts from wide to central positions very effectively and he can definitely hit 15-20 league goals a season from there consistently, badly needs an injury free season from when he returns though…

Aaron

We’ve missed this guy so badly, although we have quick replacements for him, defenders shit themselves when facing Walcott more than any other. The last 2/3 seasons his final ball has improved greatly, the amount of assists he had for RVcuntP was ridiculous & his finish is fantastic now too. Ramsey wins it back from Fabregas the ball bobbles to Sanchez, Sanchez breaks down the left lays in inside to Ozil, Ozil spots Walcott running in from the right, perfect ball, chance…Walcott….goalllllllllllllll!! A beautiful dink over the on rushing Courtois to make it Arsenal 7 (seven) Chelsea 0 I can… Read more »

paspartu

we can dream alright but the players need to do it first of all for themselves ! they are better than getting beaten 6-0. forget thanking wenger, forget the dramatics and emotions about arsenal etc……just go out there and fuck those dynamo fulham sluts.

santori

Terrifying speed returning.

if he plays at RW, we have option to play Alexis wide left or even behind Welbeck in close support.

santori

…would be great if he came back against Spurs and notched two goals sinking them yet again.

Utkarsh

Jesus Christ Arsene likes his speed merchants as much as he does the creative midfeilder: alexis, welbz, theo, akpom, gnabry, bellerin
