Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere has been practising his finishing and believes that the midfielder’s eye for goal will continue as he’s now less troubled by his ankle problems.
Wilshere equalised against Man City at the weekend with a delicious right-footed chip over Joe Hart (having left Gael Clichy for dust), and the Arsenal manager says it’s down to hard work on the training ground.
Speaking about his finishing ability, Wenger said, “He works on it, and I believe for a long time he didn’t kick the ball well because of his ankle.
“Now in training he kicks the ball well and he works on his finishing. Not excessively because first he’s a midfielder and you want him to give good balls.
“He looked dangerous in the first half as well because he has found his pace back. That for a while was not the case so I’m very happy.
“I’ve always told him the best way to answer your critics is on the pitch and he did it.”
And Wilshere himself puts the performance down to the way he’s been preparing and working on his fitness.
“I am just trying to do what I do week in, week out, working hard in training and trying to take that on to the pitch. I am getting fitter and fitter in each game and I felt good today and I am looking forward to another tough game on Tuesday.
“I had a good couple of games with the national team and I am getting fitter.”
You da man Jack
He certainly is. He looks so strong and assured on the ball. With Mesut and Rambo not quite finding their form yet, he could be vital in terms of getting us through this early hectic schedule. Mind you, this is Arsenal. Limps off against Dortmund and is ruled out ’till January is where my money is.
Yes but I believe if we sacrificed Amaury Bischoff to Zeus, he would return Jack to full fitness with a golden ankle in appeasement.
Dear Arsene,
I solemnly promise NEVER again to question your judgement.
You saw Aaron when I saw error(n)
You saw Jack when I saw jack
You see Yaya when I see yeye (Nigerian colloquialism for rubbish)
I will never question your judgement again.

At least until Tuesday when we play Dortmund. If I don’t see my preferred 11 players in the starting lineup, then the propriety of Arsenal hiring you as manager needs must be called into question.
Because Arsenal always makes me a child…:)
I hope wilshere has a sprise in store for arsenal and football supporters around the world. And be patient with Ozil. Remember form is temporary, classvis permanent. Remember ramsey.

if you’re going to correct someone .. get it right
If you’re going to correct someone, get it right.
Ah, but I think he corrected himself though?
POLL:
If you could change the following which one would it be?
Thumb down for: Welbecks chip goes in but Jacks doesn’t
Thumbs up for: Welbecks chip misses but Jacks goes in (actual result)
What a strange poll….
I would have preferred neither of them scored but we got the 3 points.
You need a sideways thumb for both going in.
Jack’s, because Welbeck’s was opportunistic, but the amount of skill involved in Wilshere’s was unbelievable from everyone involved.
The best strikers regularly bag themselves opportunistic goals.
Wilshere’s to go in because he needed it more and it would have been the better goal over all. Welbeck will be putting those away in no time, already scored a few chips for United and England
I’d have preferred Debuchy not getting – going to cost us more points in the next few months!!
He clearly has. Excellent goal, and fully intentional too.
I loved how intelligently Jack used his body to dummy Clichy; it was the soccer equivalent of the crossover that is so often used in basketball. How he blasted the shot past Hart at such a tight angle is really impressive, especially since he said that he decided for the chip because he saw Joe Hart going down.
There are times when it feels that Jack Wilshere plays in bullet time. It is so gratifying when he plays on that level.
Both give us a goal so not bothered
I fully back wilshere to become the new Inesta from the right, although he wants to become a deep-lying mid, i think he will do excellent in both positions.
Nazar na lage mere bache ko!!!
Jack “Fuck You Critics” Wilshere
some hindi speaking fans. Great!!!
translation – “may my child be saved from evil eye”
(The evil eye is a curse believed to be cast by a malevolent glare, usually given to a person when they are unaware.)
That is some prime rhyming there mate!
hahaha totally laughed when i read that too. i dont believe in that crap but by God i hope no one casts an evil eye at Wilshere just when we think he is getting into some form.
Shame it was undone by sleep time at the corner!!!!
Let’s face it, it doesn’t matter who get fired up between Jack, Rambo or Ozil, as long as one of them bring their A-game, we are a dangerous team. God help our oppositions when Le Prof finally get everyone clicking. *rub hands together*
‘Courageous balls’
“And everything you’re scared to say don’t be afraid to say no more
From this day forward, just let them a-holes talk
Take it with a grain of salt and eat their fucking faces off
The legend of the angry blonde lives on through you when I’m gone
And to think I was… gone” —
Wilshere been clearly listening to Eminem recently, we should start calling him the ‘angry blonde’
I’m actually embarrassed for you
All I can imagine is something like an alien cocoon, spraying rays of light, harboring what would be England’s best player of the decade, then a white robed man approaches and whispers “It’s not time yet…”.
But he’s coming.
erm, during pre-season did wenger not talk about jack being the defensive midfield option – now he is praising his finishing, wenger cant make up his mind
A defensive-minded midfielder who can tuck the ball away if they should happen to find themselves in a finishing position isn’t some kind of impossibility…
He chips Joe Hart when he wants…Super jack…

This made me cheer more than the goal itself.
Fuck ankle injuries!!!
Fuck the football godz!
Now Jack, fuffil that promise against all fucking oddz!!!
.
Who remembers that game at Wembley? England vs Brazil I think… Where before the game Neymar went about the press, saying save Rooney (The Fatty), England have no superstars… (Cunt identifying Cunt, I’d say)
and when that match ended, he was breathing heavily from having to chase Wilshere through-out the game…
He made Brazil look alot more like shit than Germany and Ozil did…
We love you Jack!
Now find your feet back…

I am happy with Wilshere timely resurgence but it puts boss into an awkward position to drop atleast one of the three Ramsey, Ozil and Wilshere when Walcott is back.
For the time being, if we were to play the three together in 4141 then the onl place ozil would play is in right in which he is least effective.
In my view, we should play diamond with ozil on top, Arteta at bottom and Jack and Ramsey in the middle and 2 upfront will be Sanchez and Welbeck.
Nah, I’d play the way we’re playing atm but drop Ozil for Walcott. We ought to rotate anyway, so everyone will get games and the diamond formation could be used too. I’m more concerned with our defending from counter attacks. Our fullbacks need to sort it out!
drop ozil? you must be mad.
ozil is better than cruyff zidanne bergkamp and kaka combined.
he won the world cup for germany on his own scoring 7 and assisting another 8.
puts these little players like xavi pirlo cesc modric to shame.
You don’t make any sense; neither at an attempt to legitimately defend Özil nor as an attempt to represent Özil apologists sarcastically. He’s an excellent player, he’s still young, and his style is nothing like any of the players you named. And while he most certainly does not put any of these excellent players to shame I would much prefer having Özil than any of these other names. Would love to have Modric of course but not ahead of Özil, he’d just be a different proposition, much like Cesc. As for all the others, they’re either retired or well on… Read more »
I think it has to be Rambo dropping down to the bench if he’s playing like this, hopefully it clicks again soon.
Nah, Ramsey will get it together again soon and just needs to play his way into form. And tbf to him he played ok against City and got an assist. Didn’t expect him to play at all after his injury during the break, think we ought to have played Ox, Cazorla or Rosicky on the day.
Could’ve had a wonderful goal as well if he had been a little more focused.
I agree with you; he’s not a player I’m at all worried about. He’ll come good.
Love the way he knocks down that cunt! Jack will be captain one day and will lead our Arsenal to glory!
Paul Scholes: ginger balls
Jamie Redknapp: hairy’s balls
Jack Wilshere: balls of steel
Especially nice to see Clichy, Nasri, AND Jamie Rednkapp all embarrassed in one neat performance.
Its like we are going to need Wilshere and other midfielders firing on all cylinders because we may have to outscore teams to win games. I dont see this team keeping many clean sheets no thanks to Arsene Wenger’s carelessness in the summer window. He has left us unnecessarily short at the back. He had three months to get a CB and a DM but chose to do nothing. Sad but am still hopeful. If we are there or there abouts by January, we can do the deals that will push us all the way if Arsene thinks that way… Read more »
One player that needs to step it up is The Ox.
We need a full powered Wilshere and Ramsey soon to be in any sort of contention. The difference between the two is Wilshere’s range of passing is much better. So he should be the guy playing deeper and feed Ramsey who makes those runs behind the defence. Good combination between the two will be critical. Also someone seems to have taken the battery out of Ozil. Never seen him so not ready physically. If these 3 can combine well then we can have a great season.
He played all games at the world cup and pretty much 90 mins for all his Arsenal matches. Dude hasn’t really had a proper break.
The thing with Ozil is, when he is not playing, you really notice it. Everything seems more disjointed and moves break down somewhere in the middle. Can he do better? Yes, especially with his finishing. He could’ve had two against City if he had more composure and picked his spot.
Whats “THE OFFICIAL” new as Debuchy’s injury??
Hopefully we will se that kind of performance from Jack all season now. If Ozil and Ramsey can lift a gear we will become a very hard team to contain. Theo due back soon all looking bright going forward.
I do love Jacky-Boy. A season without injury and he could be just the man we need.
This is getting beyond a joke…….. where the fuck is rambling pete.
He’s the only reason I read the damn comments. If anyone knows him, tell him to sort it the fuck out 😉
If you guys aren’t following Arsenal Hindi, on Twitter yet, be prepared to have your matchdays lit up..
Sorry blogs, not trying to spam, just trying to recommend some excellent Gooner material to other Gooners who may enjoy it.
You may take this down if it goes against comments policy. But please don’t ban me. Please!
Only time I’ve ever agreed with Robbie Savage is when he said Jack needs a run of games. Anyone who doubts him is an idiot. His ability is sky high, he just needs to go on a good run of games without injury and he’ll be as good as, if not better than, Ramsey.
I think one of the most positive changes with Jack this year is that he has given up overreacting to every foul committed against him. I am sure he has made a conscious decision to just get up and get on with it – as opposed to rolling around moaning and then bitching to the referee.
He had a couple of good games before the international break, then a pretty good outing with England. and was MOTM on Saturday. Very happy for him.
“He didn’t kick the ball well” ….now read that again. Kind of important for a player to have that part of the game, y’know? A bit like running, really.
Defending…..now that’s quite important too.
How about 3 at the back, might not get much choice on that one the way things are going, but we could then have a midfield of Walcott – Wilshire or rambo – arteta – ozil – chamberlain
When can ever get Ozil, Wilshere and Ramsey ALL in good form instead of “one of them” or “either of them”? All of us can visualise how mouth-watering that will be, but its still remains, as it is now, a dream.
3 at the back? We don’t have 3 CBs. Well we do, just about.
