Arsene Wenger has revealed that a kick on the knee in training could see Jack Wilshere miss Saturday’s showdown with Burnley.
Playing down the seriousness of the problem (heh!) the boss said the England midfielder, who was suspended last weekend, should definitely be fit to face Swansea in a week’s time although Anderlecht’s visit to the Emirates on Tuesday could come to soon.
Speaking at his weekly press conference the boss said: “It is very short term. Wilshere got a kick on his knee. I don’t know if Tuesday will be too early but certainly [fit for] Swansea.”
The only* other question mark is over the fitness of Kieran Gibbs who is still struggling with the hip injury that forced him off against Sunderland.
The boss also played down suggestions Theo Walcott could start the game, claiming the attacker ‘isn’t completely ready’. He’s expected to be on the bench.
*Aside from the other 217 sidelined players.
‘He’s just one week away…’
Rosicky should definitely start tomorrow!
NO I JUST BOUGHT HIM FOR MY FANTASY TEAM!
Ah, fortune, ’tis a fickle beast, my friend.
Let’s iron man, hopefully our injury woes will be plugged.right?
This is just completely ridiculous. It’s like Arsene has “little bit lucky dip” each week to see which one of our first team players gets an injury.
So what? We have enough midfielders….we need defenders!
We can cope without Jack , no problem.
The player I miss most is Giroud and how he brings out the best in other players. Ramsey will be back to his best in no time playing in the same team as him in my humble opinion.
We can cope without him…until the next midfielder is injured, that is.
It was definitely flamini
I was going to say Calum.
He (Arsene) knows this kind of thing happens every season but he’s very stubborn to rectify it. Prepare for things like this and stop giving us worried news every week
He’s got 47 (or thereabouts) midfielders. There isn’t another team in the world more prepared in that position.
Burnley shouldn’t pose much of a problem. We have enough strength in the middle to cope with Wilshere’s absence.
The great news is the imminent return of Giroud. I hope there is no setback though… You don’t seem to have it all good with Arsenal anyway. Great news all the same.
Dear Shad,
What the hell?
Sincerely,
Dan the Arsenal Fan
Would have loved to see Diaby have a game! however he is in the “two weeks away” vortex 🙁
Honestly? I couldn’t care less if he’s fit for the game or not. In my view, we’re a better team without him.
The stats back that up:
Arsenal this season:
When Wilshere is on the pitch: scored 6, conceded 15.
When Wilshere isn’t on the pitch: scored 17, conceded 2.

Holy shit, we’ve already conceded 17 this season? Fuck me.
Such a crap”analysis” to blame ONE player for the whole team’s losses?? Wow. Jack is the new whipping boy, isn’t he. Anything that goes wrong is his fault.
Would love to see this same “insightful analysis” for the rest of the players.
I hope he uses the rest to get back to basics.
Would you look at that! Henry may play in India!

Those stats speak for themselves on the most overated player in England
Same thing you said of Ramsey before he came good I’m sure.;)
Apparently there is no “I” in Rich.
Get behind your players and support them. Particularly the younger players who with proper encouragement will only improve. if Jack is unavailable for the midfield link role, then we have Ramsey. Also available albeit ring rust is Rosicky and Diaby. This role is all important. I’ve mentioned that I’ve felt that this discussion about the formation we employ is moot. 4-1-4-1 is 4-2-3-1 depending on the emphasis. The link player in midfield (nominally either Jack or Ramsey who approach it differently) is key. They have to balance out providing the extra player near the box when attacking with extra cover… Read more »
Who ever plays it shouldn’t be a problem against Burnley or Anderlecht it would be a big disappointment if we can’t win these next two games easily away to Swansea much harder game keep players fresh for that one
No worries. We have Sanchez.
No doubt our Alexis will be the key man today, another win is crucial COYG!
