Can we agree that Stoke are just a “bogey team” for us? We’ve failed to beat them away from home in the last four attempts, or something like that? Point is that our record against them is shocking and it’s not like every team is without one: Newcastle have us, Chelsea have Newcastle, even City had Sunderland…just a certain team that perfectly disrupts their style of play.
I’d say that would explain a lot about today’s result, and how the last few weeks have gone.
Can we agree that Stoke are a shitty team, and that if they keep beating us it’s a poor reflection on us? Not wishing to be Mr Negative following a good win, but it’s not like Stoke have brilliant players or a brilliant manager. All we have to do to not lose to them is field a proper back four and do basic things like defend and win easy headers. Shouldn’t be too hard.
He may have had a few strays, but he made life very difficult for the Geordies and stained quite a few shorts with his tireless running at them and tackling in their half.

How about that front three? Giroud with his presence, Alexis with his trickery, and Welbeck with his unpredictability.
Aye, he has his moments and works incredibly hard, but he really does need to learn to be a little more efficient in where/when he runs. No doubt it will come with time, but one moment in yesterdays game HFB got up for a flick on and Dannyboy was just watching, not anticipating at all.
As it stands I can see him struggling to make the starting 11 if we had a full strength injury free squad. HFB centre, Walcott right, alexis left.
The difference between Giroud and Welbeck is that Giroud is meh one game and fantastic the next, while Welbeck oscillates between the two in the same match. I can’t see Welbeck scoring Giroud’s goal, nor Giroud scoring Welbeck’s disallowed one. Would prefer Welbeck tbh but they can both be world class if they just became a bit more consistent (Could level that charge at all of our attack players tbh, bar Sanchez)
Depends how you count an assist. I think blogs only does so when the goal is scored from a first time shot (like a header or direct tap in). Santi took a few touches after receiving the ball from Alexis, but I would personally still count that as an assist.
Debuchy,Giroud and Santi were all terrific, we looked far more energetic and dynamic today than we have in a while.
If we can sign a CB and get some players back from injury we’ll take 3rd place from the Mancs.

Bellerin not only had an assist for first goal, but essentially started first goal by himself. A lot more to come from him I hope.
And Giroud. Yes, the “header was majestic” in itself, but my goodness, look at Giroud in the build up. It was him who made the pass to Sanchez, and timed the run from deep incredibly well too.
One thing I love about Giroud, which I think we miss without realising, is the creativity he adds to our play in the final third. That through ball for the first goal was sexy.

And that referee that looks like Phil Mitchell was pathetic, Tiote planted his studs in Sanchez’s midriff and not even a yellow card was given. The standard of refereeing especially when it comes to Arsenal has been a complete and utter joke this year.
Every game we’ve played this season has had shit decisions from the refs.

A good result, and I’m delighted for two 4-1 wins on the bounce!
I feel Bellerin really looked the part today, and his inexperience was almost unnoticeable for the majority of the game.
Overall, lots of positives to be taken from today, and naturally some thing to work on, but mainly we got 3 points in a convincing fashion.
Another bad performance by referee today but luckily we didn’t pay for that. Still don’t know why Welbeck goal was disallowed. And I think there was penalty on Giroud, he tried to hold up the ball. And they did so much fouls for yellow and they didn’t get it and on the other side Mason showed it immediately. Happy for 3 points and looking forward to play with those cunts from Liverpool.

Made my day. I said after the defeat of Swansea that out attack is as good as anyone in the league. Now, we are showing that too. If we could have good second half of the season then we could salvage something from it – maybe FA cup, third place and quarters for champions league.

Glad you mentioned Lee Mason at the end. We usually don’t slag off the ref when we win but the poor quality of the reffing in this league is getting to be a major cause for concern. That was by all objective standards an very poor game for the ref but standards are so rock bottom low these days that nobody even bats an eyebrow any more. If you only wrongly grant or disallow one goal per game you’re considered to be doing well these days, and that’s downright sad. He just clearly had no idea what he was doing… Read more »

Loved bellerin’s run where he was almost through on goal
Let us all support the club when things do not go our way.
I feel that media has a very divsive influence today. Was watching the game on NBC SN and after conceeding, the commentrator was speaking as if we had conceeded 3 in 3 minutes.
Things dont always go our way but supporting Wenger is the least we can do for the club now.
Loved that Arsene’s name was sung by the people.
Way to go!!
Lee Mason:
1. Not giving a card for Tiote’s kick on Alexis
2. Welbeck’s disallowed goal
3. Not awarding a penalty for Giroud
4. Giving a free kick instead even though Alexis was fouled inside the penalty box
5. Harsh yellow card on Ox… despite all the fouls Newcastle players had on Alexis
Ref’s assistants are there to offer the other angle for that kind of thing, but remain utterly pointless.
The FA is a shambles at the moment with regards to its refereeing levels and consistency.

Isn’t it just? I wish I could give it a thousand thumbs up!
At the presser after, I really wish Arsene ended with ‘Wenger Out’ dropped the mic and walked off.
Not long now until the Catalans realise Bellerin has that Barca DNA.
Arsenal win 4-1 and that’s not even the best thing I’ve seen today. You sir, are a genius.
Good win, keep that momentum going until all our January signings settle in properly!!

I think you are being slightly harsh.
The giroud penalty was nowhere near a penalty, Giroud stuck hisnleg out and caught Tiote. How is that a penalty?
The Tiote kick, the ref was behind Sanchez so impossible for him to see.
The Sanchez penalty was the linesman’s decision to make really and it wasn’t as blatant as you make out.
I agree about the welbeck disallowed goal but not a fan of all the ref bashing all the time.
