Last week stories emerged from Spain about Atletico Madrid agreeing a deal with Santi Cazorla to bring the Spanish international back to La Liga.
Having firmly established himself this season as one of the team’s key components, it was a rumour that worried Arsenal fans, but at his pre-game press conference this morning, Arsene Wenger dismissed the tale and said there’d been no contact with the Madrid side.
“He extended his contract last year,” said the Arsenal boss. “I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, we’ve not been approached.”
It is more than likely that the former Malaga and Villarreal man will want to go back home before the end of his career, but considering the form he’s shown this campaign, it’s too early.
He has 7 goals, 5 from the penalty spot, and in terms of creativity he has created 57 Premier League chances, sharing top spot with Alexis.
Hands off, Atletico. Come talk to us again next summer. Maybe.

Seen other top pros displaying keep-up skills in warm up. You realize after a point that unless they are pressured by a defender, the ball will only touch the ground if they allow it to. Pros, man. Too good.

I have no interest in letting Santi go in the next 4 years. If it were up to me he’d finish his career with the club. After Alexis he’s probably been our best player this season.
I hope he doesn’t miss Spain too much. Can’t some of you London Gunners start a tapas restaurant near his house and maybe play some flamenco guitar outside once in a while so he doesn’t get homesick? Maybe we can hire a bull to run by his house once a year as well.
