why not both? if we get by monaco, the team would have some real self belief, moreso than any level of belief we’ve had in some # of years. we have enough squad depth and players returning from injuries to cope with all competitions for the first time in awhile, too.
I think we will be better served if we play one game a week. Our rivals won’t play more. Adding midweek games to the schedule may be a stretch on the team. Factor in the FA cup too.
Though I agree that we have squad depth, I would rather we keep the team fresh for any opportunity to cash in on Chelsea.
Chelsea are still liable to collapse if they sustain two or three injuries in their first 11. Their squad depth is poor (a lot worse than ours or cities, anyway), and they’ve been incredibly lucky to have been able to play their first 11 almost all season. It seems their FFP strategy is to sell anyone valuable who wasn’t in their first 11 (Mata, de Bruyne, Schurrle, Luiz) to fund a brilliant first 11, but I can’t imagine that’s going to be sustainable for very long. Great video. Fingers crossed for tomorrow night! It’s an odd one for me as I’m not so down about it. If we can do it over there and get through, great. Fan-bloody-tastic! But we’ve got a great chance in the FA Cup, and we’re gathering momentum in the league with only 9 games to go.
