Olivier Giroud says he’s hoping Arsenal can bounce back from Monday night’s defeat to Swansea with good result against Manchester United.
A win at Old Trafford on Sunday will seal automatic qualification to the group stages of the Champions League; a scenario that will boost the Gunners stance in the transfer market and help with pre-season preparations.
“We didn’t have a fantastic start [to the season] and we needed a fresh attitude and more determination,” noted Giroud as he looked back on the season.
“I think we were in a good run before the disappointing result against Swansea. I hope that we’re going to bounce back against Manchester United.”
This term the Frenchman has notched goals against both Manchester clubs and Liverpool and he’s hoping to continue that form in a third game of the season against Louis van Gaal’s outfit.
“We all want to score against these [big] teams and it was a great feeling to do it, especially because last season I didn’t score too much against the big four. Those were great goals for me and I want to score one more against them.
“I try to bring something to the team. Especially in big games, you need to be ready. Sometimes you have doubts and it’s not easy. You miss confidence and everything can go the wrong way.
“But I’m ok to play with pressure, I have experience with that now and it shows that confidence must be high to be competitive.”
As we’re all very aware, trips to Old Trafford have not always been kind to us. In the last decade we’ve been handed several spankings, a state of affairs that’s dissipated the fieriness of the rivalry between the clubs.
Admitting that the relationship is a little more serene – in part due to the two sides competing at different financial levels – Arsene Wenger reflected:
“I believe the rivalry exists and there is a fierce rivalry between all the teams, but is it a bit more respectful today? Maybe. It’s not too bad. It’s only the people who are not inside it who find it absolutely fantastic.
“It has [changed] because at the start it was mainly for a long period Man United and us, between 1998 and 2004. Then Chelsea joined, after you had Manchester City joining in, so it has changed, yes.
“We have been consistent on both sides. We have gone through some periods where we were really restricted in our finances when Man United were not.
“Sometimes I felt that we were fighting with three boxers who have much more resources than us, over the years, and on that front it was Chelsea, Man City and Man United for years who had a much higher calibre financially.”
I love playing these cunts ! Come on Arsenal
just take a look @ what Hollywood is missing @ that pic of Ramsey and our HFB……..
Ozil looks like Arya Stark…esp in season 5. They are both clever and highly skilled.
COYG!
Fucking pumped for this game!! Come on you gunners… 3 points, don’t care how we get em!
Of all the cuntish teams in the league manure annoy me the most,if I have to endure a plastic football fan shout UNITED in my face if we loose I’ll lose the plot
I can’t hate anything and anyone more than Chelsea and Mourinho respectively.
Agreed, but here where I live almost everyone supports manure and 95% haven’t a clue about football,I once argued for an hour with a guy who thought juanzai was better than the ox,he even called him the next Ronaldo . That’s the kind of thing you have to deal with plastic manure fans
hate that we lost against the Swans but lets put on an impressive perfomance t’day and these cunts we’re better than them!
hate that we lost against the Swans but lets put on an impressive perfomance t’day and show
these cunts we’re better than them!
I’d take a point now if it was offered but fuck me I want to beat them so much !!
Come on you Gunners….
Twelve Pins here I come!
I like how Arsene doesn’t even mention Liverpool.
Why would he?
To win the match were going to have to fire on a all cilinders,no passengers, and giroud to not lose confidence if he does not score from his first shot, which is fucking ridiculous from a pro footballer.
no Rooney today is a big loss for them but a big plus for us if we dictate the midfield and the ref keeps Fellani’s persistant fowling in cheque we will spank em 3 or 4 nil im feeling that confident and today a year on we won the FA cup lets celebrate that win with this one
I think Manure have been “found out” this season.
Feeling confident COYG!
Wish others – especially Maureen – would accept that the lack of trophies for so many years was solely down to Arsenal not having the finances to compete for or keep the very top players. Where would these other teams be if they had to do the same as Arsenal?
It is also a litte strange how people see 4th place as underachieving in that time period, we were competing with two teams with blank chequebooks and the biggest club in the world, whilst we were boxing with one hand behind our back.
We need to stop the threat of Ashley Young’s crosses to Fellaini as dat will be their main outlet of attack.
Hopefully Sanchez thunderblasts’ one right in RVP’s crotch.
Van Gal once said they lost the title because they lost so many games in the first half of the season, as if they are on a winning streak… Id laugh so hard to prove him wrong.
-never EVER take Giroud off for Walcott when we are not in front!!!
I’d secretly settle for a point, but what I’d *really* like is to give them a nice clear daylight type-stuffing, 3 or 4-0, that resonates into next season and signifies the beginning of a lean spell for the giant thumb and his bunch of diving cheats.
Swansea just equalised!
Spoke to soon! Anyway let’s embarrass the Mancs!
COYG!
