Arsenal’s Champions League campaign kicks off tonight, and the opposition manager says he’s going to send his team out to have a go at Arsenal later on.
While the Gunners have had problems breaking down packed, deep-lying defences in the past, Zoran Mamić says his team will be trying to make things happen, rather than frustrating Arsene Wenger’s side.
“Arsenal are a top-quality team,” he told UEFA.com, “better than us – but our aim is not to sit back and defend. We will try to pose them problems.
“I met Arsène Wenger when we were selling Eduardo to Arsenal; he is one of the best coaches in the world and is doing a fantastic job at Arsenal. It’s a privilege to have him here. I expect a full stadium and a great atmosphere.”
“In the run-up to the match I told the players we would have two video analysis sessions: one on Arsenal’s strengths, which would be an hour long, and one on their weaknesses.
“I told them we probably wouldn’t have anything to show in the second meeting.”
How very diplomatic of him, but let’s hope we don’t give him anything tonight that might add to that second video.
I really hope we don’t do the typical Arsenal thing of expecting to win just by turning up. We can’t afford to drop any points here due to underestimating our opponents. Stay sharp and we should be going home happy. COYG!
I fear the same thing tbh.
But Surely this squad has learnt their lesson in the Champions League now? Time for them to grow up a bit.
some is ridiculously wrong at arsenal.
diaby, vermaelen, rosicky rvp and now welbeck, and wilshere.
not to mention arteta, walcott and gibbs
wrong article. there are plenty of others on this topic to gripe about that.
That’s what I said after Anderlecht, after Bayern, after Bayern again and after Milan.
Hopefully this time Arsenal has learnt their lesson.
I don’t think Bayern and Milan can be classified as showing up and expecting to win. If anything, those first legs were more a lack of confidence, then we showed up in the second legs with nothing to lose and played with freedom and confidence.
Anyhow, what’s done is done. 3 points and 3 Alexis goals tonight please!
Giroud will probably start as a balance to the pace of Alexis & Ox. Though, I do hope that this match will give Ozil and Santi a chance to polish their shooting boots.
I’m confident because we’re rotating and hopefully some of the players who come in will feel they need to prove themselves.
I’m sure we can all think of plenty of things for the second video (West Ham for example and multiple misses versus Stoke).
But also hope we can recall lots for video 1 eg the Villa Cup final. We are fans so should be getting some pleasure.
I hardly think misses vs Stoke would make it into a video of our weaknesses.
“Their big weakness is an inability to finish multitudes of chances, so let them have as many as you like”.
They might lined up with 11 outfield players 😮
Not saying that, just don’t see us missing loads of chances as a strength.
He wants to have a go at Arsenal? Oh well; I’d advise you to stick to the bus-parking route. That is the sure way to get anything out of this game. If you foolishly give Ozil, Alexis, Cazorla, Ox and Walcott space on the counter, you are doomed.
Meanwhile, nice diplomacy by him – on the brink of flattery even.
Yeah good luck with that!
It will be a breath of fresh air though with a team not parking the bus or trying to kick us off the pitch! Should make for a good game.
Please by all means!
In fact have two or three… and by that I mean uber high defensive line with over lapping full backs!
I think we’re far comfortable playing a team willing to have a go at us opposed to teams that have 10 men behind the ball watching our beautiful sideways passing.
Who said anything about not kicking us off the pitch?
Wishful thinking said so, and he’s friends with my dad’s mate from the pub 🙂
Let’s hope we can produce some of the old ‘Magic’ against ‘Dynamo’….Anyone? ….no?
I’ll get my coat
Heard this before. Sensible smokescreen from their manager, but they’re not stupid. They’ll attack on the break just like every other team playing Arsenal.
Feel really confident about tonight for some reason – after a disjointed start there were real signs that the team was beginning to click again against Stoke.
That said, it’s usually at these times that we manage to fuck things up entirely. Definitely no room for complacency!
COYG!
I just spendt 20 pounds to watch it on television tonight. Hope it’s a good game:)
You’re doing it wrong!
BT Sport, £5/mth.
£3/mth getting BT Sport through Virgin Media.
That seems like a ripoff to me, I’m spending 38 pounds to watch it live
Hope that includes the cost of 4 pints!!
Mamic is so far up our collective arses I can almost taste brylcreem
Ohhhh…. Fabregas is magic. He does a magic act. He disappears in every game. Because hes fucking crap. He slithers with his left foot, he slithers with his right. And when we win at Stamford Bridge well sing this song all night.
Would be wonderful to see those wankers lose to the Israeli giants tonight – just to watch Maureen’s further meltdown in front of the world media
Time to bury the hatchet I guess. His ignominous career at Barca and now fast becoming the key player in Chelsea’s worst season are enough embarrassment for Fab. He has made his choice; we move on.
You cant deny its a quality chant though
Will Mourinho get sacked if we beat them?
Bit fanciful…. but…. imagine…………………
After “specialist in failure”, wouldn’t it be great if Arsene had the last laugh? Would love it to happen.
Try the Monaco at home highlight reel from last season for video number 2 Zoran..
Alexis to open the floodgates with a hattrick. To cross 30 goals this season. World Class striker problem solved.
Lets show the Manchester clubs how its done. And to those who know me, Pizza and beer at my house tonight. 😉
I see what he did there…
It’s one of our weaknesses to underestimate our lesser opponents. He tried to bluff us…We are onto you Zoran!
Hello my brothers by Arsenal, I am from Croatia and Zagreb and Dinamo is my boyhood club. It is run by the mob guy (Zdravko Mamic) who installed his brother (Zoran, on the pic) and now they do whatever they want with the club. It is a shadow of a club who produced Boban, Prosinecki, Suker, Modric, Eduardo and Kovacic more recently. So I hope that Dinamo gets spanked by Arsenal tonight and for one day true legends of the club come back, instead of these classless Herzegovinian mobsters. On the other hand, just to say, we Croats usually play… Read more »
Been reading all about them – Guardian posted an article yesterday about how the two brothers were in jail just before their CL qualifier in July, on charges of tax evasion and bribery as a result of siphoning off funds from the Modric transfer.

Reckon these two would pass the famously robust Fit and Proper Persons Test??? Probs….
thanks for the lesson; a very interesting read.
COYG!!!
I feel like that second video was probably a 6 minute loop of Wenger failing to zip up his jacket
Isn’t he a lovely chap? That video thing won’t work because no human can restrict alexis’ movement when he gets going. If you do, then our defenders will be playing in their penalty area.
Has he been told we tend to whack teams that play that way?
And has he been also been told that between Wednesday and Saturday one or 2 teams facing Arsenal will be whacked?
Isn’t that guy from Evil Dead??
Bring it on curly bap!
Respect in football? Who is this magnanimous fellow and could he have a word with Maureen Yo perchance?
I hope we go easy on them accordingly and shut up shop after 5-0.
Eduardo, ah to what could have been.
Thanks a lot for Dudu.
It worked! My time machine.
