Hector Bellerin’s rapid rise to prominence has been recognised by the Catalan Football Federation as he picked up their Young Player of the Year award in a landslide victory.
The 20-year-old right-back, who is currently sidelined with a groin problem, picked up the award in Barcelona last night with reports suggesting he made it back to London inside 7 minutes after a gentle jog home.
Bellerin snaffled an impressive 57% of the votes beating Espanyol keeper Pau Lopez and Lazio forward Keita Balde into second and third respectively.
The Spain under-21 international has made 41 appearances for the Gunners since his debut in the Capital One Cup in September 2013 scoring two goals and picking up an FA Cup medal along the way.
Not a bad start to his career…
Ughhhh perfect opportunity for Pique and Co to get their grubby claws on our Hector!
At least they didn’t try to force him into a Barca shirt.
Barcelona was trying to replace Dani Alves last year. The Brazilian will remain there maximum two years. Arsenal needs to think about a 100 millions release clause. This is no joke.
the new contract should include a messi or neymar 1 to 1 exchange clause
A release clause doesn’t help protect a club from losing a player – it protects a player from his club refusing to negotiate with interested parties. As long as we have Bellerin under contract, we can refuse to sell him at any price, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. A release clause is there to guarantee the player that if another club comes along prepared to pay a certain large sum, they will be allowed to go. In the end, it’s mostly about what Bellerin wants (which in my opinion is how things should be in the world).… Read more »
The amount of money involved is unlikely to feature in the decision process too much.
Could you elaborate a little further on this?
All very good points, although I think you are missing a major one:
A large (and publicly known) release clause acts as a deterrent to clubs tapping players up. Not that the Catalonians would ever stoop to such tactics. They are “more than a club” you know
I think a release clause is exactly what we should do here. If he wants to leave Wenger won’t make him stay (rightly so) but an expensive yet realistic release clause would help us not get shafted by Barcelona again.
I’m waiting for the inevitable clamour from the Spanish media and players to take him back.
However, everything Bellarin has said isn’t about home sentiments but about chance to shine.
I hope as he and this team grows, the reason changes from opportunities to play, to this is a winning team starting a long period of domino nation, so have no reason to go anywhere else!
I love playing dominoes too
It all changed when the domino nation attacked…
DNA fraudsters!
A well established fact in the world of forensics is that fingerprints are several times more reliable as evidence than DNA. It’s also established that so called Barca DNA is utterly useless as evidence for anything. Or in the words of Jack Regan himself, “Whuh, Barca DNA? Nah, that’s fuckin’ rahbbish, son! Bellerin aint goin’ nowhere!”.
posted below without reading through. I guess EVERYONE is concerned about those Barca DNA wankers. Have a green thumb Liam.
So it looks like it’s going to start…
This is their first attempt on paper of trying to get their greasy mitts all over our bright young prospect.
I look forward to hearing comments from ex- barca players / managers reminding him about his Barca DNA soon..
I fucking despise that club so much. I shall scarifice an animal to the footballing gods tonight and pray that Hector has the satchel to turn them down when they come knocking.
BellerGETIN!!
Perfect excuse for Pique and Iniesta to remind him of his “Barca DNA”. Don’t let them fool you Hector! !
Here’s to him picking up the award and getting on a plane straight back to London Colney.
Actually, Luton International Airport.
Trying all their best to get him back to barca
Hope that is all he picked up there!
Wouldn’t mind him picking up a couple girls along the way. After all he’s done through his rapid rise in the football world, he deserves a rise of a different kind 😉
If this a Ploy by the Catalan’s to unsettle a 20 year old kid after letting him leave then all i’ve got to say is
Hands of Barca Bellerin is a Gooner…
Hands of Barca sounds like a great, evil organization
i Don’t trust those guys and i Hope none of that “Barca DNA” nonsense is included,
Well, they’ve proved that so called ‘Barca DNA’ counts for very little.
Look at what happened with that other guy who used to play for us. Plays across town for a tiny club wearing a really ugly blue kit.
Their farewell statement for him spoke volumes.
looking at that photo, there is something of the Kray twins about our young right back, which I for one think is a very good thing, particularly when it comes to dealing with chinless fuckers like Na$ri.
Nasri is still a footballer?!
I would take Nasri back if he would be happy to play with the kids team until we have 7 or so first teamers out. And assuming he apologizes for being a cunt.
I think he looks like a junior politician attending his first model U.N.
Nasri can watch Bellerin running past him at great speed from that bench he sits on.
They will surely make an attempt for bellerin once alves moves on. We have to make sure that we are in a very strong position then.
Off-topic but I am tired of this lack of squad depth bullshit by the pundits, media etc. You show me any other team that is joint top of the league with 8-9 first team players out. The fact that we have done so well in the league with so many players out shows the squad depth we have so this lack of squad depth argument is baseless.
Preach it Brutha!
Spot on! I think MCFC is missing Aguero and Silva a lot more than we are missing Walcott and Wiltshire.
First of many accolades to come for sure.
This guy is so good that Debuchy has virtually thrown in the towel.
Any news on his injury?
I know they might not be “the” authority but Fantasy Premier League has downgraded his chances of playing the next game from 75% to 25% in their incredibly accurate % system.
Is there any basis whatsoever for their actions?
Speaking of injury, it seems nobody was really shocked (other than me) about the mention by Arsene Wenger recently about knowing that some of the players he has signed, he is aware they are injury prone. This is a stunning admission about our transfer policy, it seems we knowingly take chances on injury prone players. Bischoff, Sanogo, Chambo, Wilshere (although him Wenger overplayed), and others. Is it because that helps knock off the price a bit, is it because Arsene wants to win with the Wounded Warriors after winning with the Invincibles?
Nobody else wondered about this?
United signed Van Nistelrooy whilst he was out with a long term knee injury which was, at the time, the latest problem in a professional career blighted by some form ailment up to that point. Aguero’s hamstring problems were known to City before signing him, even Messi needed hormone treatment. Sometimes the talent/potential outweighs risk and persistent injury problems are not always a given, the Dutch Skunk spent most of his career on the treatment table and became damn near invulnerable in his last season with us and his first with manure (who bought him in spite of his injury… Read more »
Remember the quote from Wenger that RVSkunk had at most 18 months at the highest level after selling him on to ManUre? He was spot on with his assessment, no?
Santi is that you, no?
Be interested to know how Wilshere relates to our transfer policy in any way given he’s been with us since he was nine years old. What’re you gonna judge his injury prone-ness on, how many of his baby teeth he’s lost?
Name any of our super stars that wouldn’t walk into or at worst provide steep completion for any of the traditional big sides in the premier league. Common sense is a requirement for posting comments
nobody else uncomfortable about him being next to those DNA wankers again? I would have told him to stay home and let his girlfriend make the acceptance speech and pick up the award on his behalf. These fucks are good at turning people’s heads.
In fairness it was a Catalan award, not a Barcelona Football Club award.
I live in Catalonia and many of the people here don’t support Barcelona, many downright hate them. That the other candidates were a Espanyol player (fierce rivals) and a young fella plying his trade in Italy should show us this was a ceremony that had as much to do with Barca as England has to do with Spuds.
Indeed, Catalunya does not simply equate to barca. However we are legitimately concerned to have Bellerin receiving football press coverage anywhere in the vicinity of Barcelona. Get back to north London son!!
I was watching the Unclassic Commentaries at club Youtube account and burst into laughter when Hector called Nacho as Peter Crouch younger brother. Lololololol
Gotta love Hector. Get in the pitch soon, mate!
Link please
Sorry for not put it in my first comment. Here you go:

Ha ha – “I thought he only used his left foot for getting on the bus!”
In Nacho’s defense, at least he’s put together with parts that all fit together correctly 😉 and his English is so much improved. Not to mention his stature as a defender has grown. Is there a better left back in England at the moment? Certainly he’s top 3, no?
Ha, they both seem like top guys.
On a side note, one of the comments on this video is “Bellerin’s banter is better than Debuchy’s football”. It has 408 likes at this moment. I know it’s probably a joke, but this Debuchy bashing is seriously going too far now. It’s becoming embarrassing, support him for god’s sake!
Debuchy’s football is decent; Bellerin’s banter is something special. Just being honest.
Thanks for Hector Arsene!
I think it’s time to get him a fresh Arsenal dna.
Fuck…… Another one to fret about on international duty
Just remember the defective Barca DNA rubbish that afflicted Fabregas and how that quickly wore out …he got chuck back to Chelsea.
Bellerin, you have Arsenal DNA. Its called loyalty.
Give him barclays young player of the year or something, idk but just recognise this kid’s top class performance at top level and consistency spells at very young age. And that should be the answer for barca’s DNA wankers!!!
Here he has not only a chance to be an Arsenal great but a premier league great.
here we go, here we go
That award actually contains Barca DNA…
Blogs. Do you not know that Wenger picked up a gong, too?
Barcelona will for Bellerin at some point, it’s cast in stone
Happy deepavali/Diwali to all who are celebrating. Loved the Arsenal video:

Classy club. Classy players. Classy fans! Ooh, too be a gooner!
I dislike Barcelona as much as the next guy, but I hardly believe they’re going after Bellerin in the next couple of years. People do know that they already have bought his replacement right? Alexis Vidal, 25 year old spanish right back. Can play at the wing as well. The only reason why he hasn’t played yet is because of the transfer ban, not allowing them to register new players before the 1st of January. At the moment I’m far more concerned about whatever club Guardiola is managing next season. He’s the one behind all that DNA-crap, and I’m figuring… Read more »
