Mesut Ozil is quite good at football and it’s not gone unnoticed by his teammates. I guess 15 assists and four goals in 23 appearances made it hard for them to ignore.
After last night’s man-of-the-match performance against Manchester City, the likes of Theo Walcott, Petr Cech and his BFF, Mathieu Flamini, have lavished our delicious playmaker with praise.
“He’s very modest. The thing about Mesut is that he sees things that most players don’t even see on the pitch. He knows what he’s going to do before he does it, you just have to make that run. We’ve got special players on the pitch who provide special moments in the match, and that makes our jobs so much easier. It’s a team game but you need these players in your team if you want to continue to play as well as we are at the moment. The amount he gives to this team, the threat going forward and also defensively, he puts a shift in and people don’t see that side of the game which has changed in the whole squad.”
“Mesut is a world champion. A player with experience from international games and as well from his time at Real Madrid so obviously he is a key player for us. He has been playing brilliantly this season so have the other players.”
“I’m happy for him because he’s a top guy on the pitch and off it as well. We knew he was a top player and he’s proving it every day. Everyone in the team is happy for him and we’re pleased to have him on our side.I love him.
Before breaking down in tears and requesting the cameras leave him in peace, he continued: “I love him. I love him. I love him. I love him. I love him.”

Not long ago an insufferable plank in the mainstream sports press suggested Ozil was ‘nicking a living’ at Arsenal. It’s fair to say this nonsense has well and truly been dispelled with his colleagues on Fleet Street obviously onside with the way our German is taking the Gunners to the next level.
Here’s a few excerpts from today’s post-match analysis…
“Özil has now made goals against every other club currently in the top six of the Premier League. There may have been more light-touch, gossamer periods of creative dominance in an English top-tier season. But none that springs to mind.
“At the end it seemed fitting Özil should wander off the pitch and down the tunnel dressed in a Wenger-gown of his own: still juggling a ball, still – even in floor-length quilted nylon – the coolest man in the stadium.”
“The German has forsworn the spectacular for the straightforward, but his accurate passing has never been so effective.”
“The Germany midfielder is Arsenal’s architect and provides the moments which decide big games as he has proved this season beyond any doubt that he is a big game player.”
I love his velvet feet like I love my own children.
Things we already knew:
Ozil’s great
Bacon is delicious
Sky is blue (in most places)
Beer is good
Bacon is carcinogenic.
Sky being blue is an optical illusion.
Good beer is good, but there’s a lot of shite out there.
Ozil is unquestionably magnificent though.
You get a thumbs down for the bacon comment. Even if it’s sarcastic. Don’t slander the best thing ever
mmm love me the taste of pig shit in the mornings
Kinky, but it takes all types. Welcome to Arsenal.
Yes. Systematically slaughtering and mistreating animals that are at least as smart and sentient as dogs for your gustatory gratification is the best thing ever.
Frosties are great. Mesut is something else altogether.
In my opinion Frosties are horrifically overrated, they are to cereal what Dele Alli or Oscar is to football.
.. they’re just slightly sugary corn flakes..
Slightly sugary? Them things are super sweet like a Spuds own goal winning us a match in the 95th minute
ya Mesut, ya!
Naughty Blogs! 🙂
Er, how?
Flamini qoute 😉
Wonder what Owen has to say about this. The fucking cunt.
Sterling is better than ozil… At what exactly?
At diving.
Reproducing.
He doesn’t think Mesut should be credited with an assist for Theo’s goal.
What an absolutely pathetic little prick.
To be fair, I never expect theo to score from there. We all say the game is often decided by a moment of genius. Theo bending it in is exactly that. A moment of genius from ozil. And another moment from theo. So yeah, Owen is a cunt.
Bend it like Theo-the musical.
Here here, and extremely well articulated!
Anyone mention that Owen is complete cunt?
It’s as simple as this, if Özil stays fit we’ll win the league. If he doesn’t, we won’t.
That’s what people said when Coquelin got hurt. And then again when Cazorla got hurt. And then again when Sanchez got hurt.
The greatest manager signed fabregas and Wenger signed ozil.
Our own fans even wrote us off cuz Wenger didn’t sign an out field player. Great managers (fans) said Martesaker will be exposed against city due to lack of pace.
If Wenger have faith in these players, why can’t the fans do the same?
Wenger is a bitch.
Arsenal are signing an outfield player in January, his name is Alexis something, I hear he’s good
While I agree with the sentiment, let’s be honest here, Fabregas won the league last season and we’ve not won fuck all this season, yet. Arsenal and Ozil will be judged in May, hopefully on top of a bus.
Wonder how does M. Owen feels now. If he had any decency he would stop commenting football, as he clearly doesn’t have any clue.
It’s part of the training at Liverpoo since the late 80s (when they stopped winning everything), that they MUST talk complete bollocks whenever asked anything about football.
Murphy, Caragher, really all of them are completely useless at anything which requires the power of speech.
Does anyone have a video of that bit the Guardian is on about? Didn’t notice it watching the game
The reason idiots like Moyes, Ashton, Collymore and others slag him off is becuse they’re stupid and ignorant and think they sound intelligent when they spout this bollocks, whereas if you actually analyse it properly you’ll see that in his first season he was doing pretty well until he got injured, and then came back to help us win the FA Cup, getting a couple of MOM’s along the way if I remember rightly? Then after coming back as a World Cup winner and obviously full of confidence, Wenger, for some daft reason, (doesn’t he remember playing Dennis on the… Read more »
Cynicism sells better, you can call it ‘harsh truth’ or ‘straight talking’, but being optimistic is often seen as naivety. It means the balance is taken out, and everyone errs on the side of criticism.
And this is precisely why England will not progress on the international stage. Compared to their peers England don’t take football seriously. Try watching the bundesliga and you’ll be ashamed of what England has to offer. Apart from the football (which is considerably better, take their mid table team Hoffenheim and the equivalent in England, WBA for example) the players, coaches, commentators and media all focus on actual football. The media in England focus more on giving air time to cunts like Mourinho picking fights, never calling out fuckers like Costa, McClean, or Pulis for what they actually are, can’t… Read more »
‘Tis true, but I gotta say: the premier league is the best league for that very reason. It’s all about emotion. The bundesliga and the Germans are admittedly far more efficient and cold-hearted. Try watching their MOTD and you’ll see how fuckin boring that shit is. Also aggree, that’s why the Germans are far better internationally. England sucks up to experts and emotions, but never concentrate on actual footy.
I for one I’m not yet convinced until Owen and Moyes confirms his role; till that happens, he’s still nicking a living…
PS: Is Kalou available now?
where is Chris Samba???
And Sebastien Frey. That Petr Cech guy is nicking a living too 😉
Don’t really nor have I ever cared what people who work for BT Sport or Talksport say about our magician.
But when you see a respected writer like Barney Ronay above saying such wonderful things it sends a shiver down the spine as a reminder we get to watch someone special every week.
Not just a genius footballer, but a modest and nice guy. Read his interview with Henry Winter in The Times.
And on the 8th day, God made Ozil.
There are so many things still that people don’t notice or comment on about what Ozil does during matches that really show how great an all around player he is whether it’s the defensive work, the movement off of the ball, knowing when to play the ball one touch back where it came to avoid pressure or looking to carry it forward, etc.. All beyond the incredible technical skills and vision he possesses I would say his football IQ is up there with any player in the world. The US announcers kept talking about during the match how Flamini’s head… Read more »
One of those things not noticed by many: at the same time Theo shoots, he runs into the box, the ball is behind him but he ducks at the right moment so the ball flies over his head into the net.
How the fuck does he know this??? 360 radar vision is the only answer.
because he knew what Walcott was going to do with the ball. that’s what ozil does.
Another thing gone unnoticed was Giroud’s strike for his goal – the only way that was going in was sliding at speed through Hart and Shoulders legs! Superb.
But seriously, if I had to choose between Ramsey scoring and seeing that come in contact with Joe Hart’s face like that, I’d have the latter a hundred times over. Amazing. 😀
He works so hard to be available to whoever has the ball.
His distance covered is always very high even last season in the couple of quiet games he’s had.
I can see why you like mesut so much flamini, not just wenger who knows
New dictionary entry. Ozil: To assist or help. Example: How may I Ozil you.
The moment ozil walks on to the pitch I forget everything in my life. It’s just me,ozil and the ball.Bring on the next matchday. Can’t wait for his new composition.
“Ozil needs to perform more for Arsenal, he isn’t living up to expectations” was a common viewpoint during his first season(s). I and most of us paid little attention and were quite happy to be mesmerized by a top player on a weekly basis.
Perhaps they had a point, not that he was anywhere near poor before, but he certainly has shown another gear. To the doubters (out of which 90% support liverpool or united) I say: In your face bitches, be careful what you wish for!
from the way those british pundits gave their analysis (or lack thereof), it is hard not to notice their philosophy in the no.10 position. they prefer guys who do not shy away from the ball. see how they praise silva, who we know, in a big game he would be a passenger of the game. because his style is to get on the ball and make things happen. he doesnt create or exploit spaces in the pitch as that is not in his skill set. mesut is a different mould. both of them are excellent passers (mesut edges over him… Read more »
It still seems like a bit of a dream having someone that good in our side.
This club has had Bergkamp, Henry and Bendtner in recent years, is it really that surprising?
I wish how good ozil is was still being over looked, i can only see him getting targeted for more hacking\”tough tackling”…. Really need Sanchez back and quick as he is a more obvious threat and more robust to tackles.
Do you all see why Wenger didn’t opt for Fabregas now? Do you all see?
Don’t write a Cesc re-signing off in the Jan transfer window though…
No, do write that off!
I’d still take Cesc back for a bargain price, but not sure he’d even be in our starting 11 at the moment. He certainly looks like he’s nicking a living over at Chelski.
Only if the bargain price is ten pounds or less.
All those ‘Proper Football Men’ couldn’t appreciate Ozil’s artistry because they believe in blood and thunder, running around, giving 110% etc. They are the reason England rarely produces technically gifted players who understand the game at both macro and micro levels. As stated by many above, it is the simplicity of his play, and understated nature and the fact that he’d rather go for a pass than shoot that frustrates them. He is everything English football doesn’t value enough, but should.
I just couldn’t let this one go with just a thumbs up. It is a completely spot on observation both about Ozil and English football
Spot on my friend. When England produced such a skilfully player (Hoddle), he was scene as a luxury. Özil is an extraordinary player with amazing vision and skill.
I’m still gutted nobody went with the “City bamb-ozil-led by Gunners” headline
David Moyes pre Villa game –
“…for me, the jury’s still out on Ozil”
And thats why you’re a shit manager who keeps getting sacked, David
Loved his assists, but most of all, I loved how he was urging his team mates forward early on.
Still cannot believe we’ve got Özil… Moanreenwhore is unemployed?
And oh… We’ve Got Özil!!!
That boring scouse twat Michael Owen should be made by public decree to get down on his knees in front of mesut and make a snivelling grovelling apology
I…uh… I thought that was going somewhere else. Whew!
When he commentates it sounds as if he is grovelling and snivelling, somebody drown him please!
Wait, according to one highly respected English manager, the jury’s still out on Ozil, isn’t it?
Not a ‘Highly Respected’ manager, just a ‘Twat former manager’.
Oh, and Moyes is Scottish.
He who shall remain unemployed…
Loved that cheeky face from Özil while being congratulated for yet another assist. (yes Owen, another assist). What a great bunch of blokes we have playing and working their Arses off for us. Delightful..
Yes there is no need for specsavers with ozils vision.
I would also like to say how well the underrated flamini has done coming into the side with very little game time under his belt
Every time we get in the final third I just shout at the TV, “just give it to Ozil,” last time I did that was when God was playing. Not making comparisons, just saying. Love Him!
Try using a small ‘G’ for Pires or Bergkamp; whichever you’re referring to.
Someone said if he finds Ozil in bed with his wife he will make them breakfast in the morning and run them a bath 0_0
Same media who said Chelsea would win the title then City because they spend more than us. Same media who lauded Van Gaal for spenidng 250m and Liverpool’s ‘transition then with Brendan Rodgers now with Klopp (and reaistically for the past two decades of ‘transition’) Same media who said Ozil was a ‘panic buy’ for ahem 42.3m same media who said we won’t get anywhere because we have no depth and we do not spend. Sam media who recommended MVilla Melo Capoue Wanyama … look how their teams are fairing. Or say Scheniderlin who clearly has made a massive diff… Read more »
Ozil keeps making assist…as sweet as making babies
He’s had a brilliant half season but the rest of his time with us has been middling to good. Very happy he’s delivering now, but to my mind he still has a bit to do before he justifies his transfer fee.
Is that you, Michael?
Owen needs to get off Twitter and get back in santas workshop with all the other elves…the pass to theo shouldn’t count as an assist ???? He should get two assists in my book. One for the pass and one for ducking the shot. Best ducking assist I have seen all year…
Owen can duck right off
Michael Owen: If Ozil does not pass the ball for Giroud to score then it wouldn’t be an assist 😀
Ozil, Mertesacker, Sanchez, Bellerin, Arteta, Giroud, Monreal, Theo, Gibbs, Cazorla, Coq, Flamini perhaps Gabriel, Campbell, Wilshire, Ox etc…the more recent players from the ongoing list. All players proven to be excellent business and team decisions. All players who significantly improved by playing under Wenger. All players who make great team mates and represent their team, manager and league very well. We will win and lose when Wenger leaves..maybe win some big trophies. Wenger has been a true inspiration and a great and loyal leader. No wonder young and older players hope to play for him…what a class act our team… Read more »
