Alexis Sanchez says that Arsenal have to be taken seriously as title contenders, and that the spirit within the camp is such that they can cope with the ups and downs as the presure mounts.
The Chilean is expected to return to the squad today for the clash with Chelsea, having missed eight weeks with a hamstring strain, and he’s ready to play his part as the Gunners seek their first Premier League since 2004.
He’s backed the quality of his teammates, saying, “This campaign we are demonstrating that we are serious candidates for the Premier League title. I think there can be no doubt about our credentials to be champions this time.
“It’s true that we have lost important points that could have given us a bigger advantage in the table, but, overall, we are having a very good season.
“The spirit between the players is sensational and, when we do suffer a blow, we are able to overcome it. That’s very important.”
The 26 year old outlined his ambition and his commitment to the club, saying he was very happy in London.
“I am always ambitious in football,” he said, “and I still want to win three titles this season – the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League. It will not be easy but we can do it.
“I am very happy at Arsenal and I’m not thinking about leaving.”
As for how he might celebrate if Arsenal did win the league, he said, “It would be a dream. Right now, I don’t know what I would do if we won the league. But maybe a tattoo!”
Yeah!
Let’s do this!!!!
COYG!
Love the attitude. Lets have it! Looking forward to seeing him vs Barcelona
It would be serious to have you back on the pitch too
I’m laying down my entire savings for double your money deal (odds 2.07) for Arsenal to win it and COMPREHENSIVELY.
no not really..
For the record Arsenal were paying 6 to 1 odds at the start of the season (to win the title). If that comes in I will get roughly 100 pound.
He’s right. Only citeh are on our tail. Those overachievers at the top will start dropping point soon and fast. They clearly look like imposters at the top of the table if you ask me
Gotta give Leicester credit mate. We’re almost 2/3rd into the season and they’re still there.
Yep, and Ranieri is no mug of a manager either….
That’s really deluded arrogance. Let’s try a little bit of humility. The scum down the road are also playing well and barring injuries may give us a run. Try to be realistic it helps you gain balance in your life and not act like a complete John Terry the moment we lose. Just a suggestion fella. Coyg
Hate to say it but Sp*rs have been very good this season. Every time I’ve seen them they’ve looked very convincing, they’re genuine competition for us.
The hope is that they go far in the Europa League and that derails their league campaign. Oh, and surely they’re gonna tire towards the end due to their high intensity game?
Please please please please please please dye your hair red Alexis !!
When Cazorla, Coquelin and Alexis got injured, the general reaction seemed to be “If we’re still in touch at the top of the table when everyone starts coming back we will win the title.” But now that we have actually been pretty decent without them and are still on top or thereabouts of lot of Arsenal fans on the internet are suddenly saying that we should have taken the opportunity to get a lead when City dropped points, and if we don’t beat Liverpool/Stoke/Chelsea we cannot win the league. Personally, I’m really hoping for a win today, but considering our… Read more »
I’m pretty sure that United and Spurs will want to make it as difficult as possible for us.
My biggest worry as well. Spurs away in the league has rarely brought us a lot of joy these last few years. Fucking spuds, playing us like its a cup final. Not to mention we also need to go to the Etihad. Lets hope City drop points in other fixtures making that game irrelevant.
oh come on
“We won the league at the Ethiad” even scans well.
Van Gaal thinks that making it difficult for your opponent is achieved by lots os sideways passes. United away is one of the least scary away fixtures in the league right now.
Yes, but they’re jammy bastards and usually have twelve men in their team.
With positive mind-set winners like Sanchez and Ozil and Cech, this year of winning the league finally looks possible. Winning any others more than the league is a bonus
Looks more like a cech tattoo to me
COYG… TODAY IS OUR DAY… MAKE TERRY EAT GRASS AGAIN
Lately Wenger has been playing a less possession game. Stats have borne out the fact
the team with more possession could lose .Recall the Hull game.
The gunners had 99% possession and had countless shots at goal but lost 2-1.
Hopefully the gunners with fast breakways could catch the defences unaware and no time to organize.
I will take 1-0 anytime as we win.
And we lost 🙁
‘Really good to see him back against Chelsea – about the only positive thing from the match.
