Arsenal’s quest for an unprecedented third FA Cup success in a row will continue with a home tie against Burnley.
The Gunners have twice played Burnley in the competition during the Arsenal era, winning 2-0 away at Turf Moor in 2008 and 3-0 at home the season after.
Games will take place across the weekend of Friday 29 January to Monday 1 February 2016.
Our full record against Burnley, who won the FA Cup themselves in 1914, can be seen here.
The Gunners are the most successful club in the history of the competition with twelve trophies to their name since 1930.

Ospina
Gibbs
Gabriel
Mert
Chambers
Arteta
Rosicky
Jeff
Iwobi
Ox
Welbz
No chance. For a start, Welbeck won’t be ready by then.
good draw, it gives us a chance to rotate our players, but with the FA cup you never know
Excellent draw

Was hoping for Eastleigh. Local to me.
Funnily enough, playing at home to Eastleigh would probably have been perfect for both clubs. We’d get to play at home against a non-league team, and they’d get to fix up their finances for the next 5-10 years in one day. Related to that: isn’t it a bit weird how lower league and non-league teams are rewarded for draws at home against PL opposition? I’m sure Exeter would have liked to hold on and beat Liverpool, but the Liverpool equalizer will do wonders for their financial position, while if they’d won they’d probably get knocked out in the next round… Read more »
Nice draw. Don’t really see any upsets though. There again maybe Manure might upset Derby.
Ha! Seriously though, anyone else reckon we could see an upset in the Northampton/MK Dons – Chelsea tie? If they keep it tight at the back, maybe get an early goal and can somehow take it to a replay, I’d really fancy Chelsea’s chances at Stamford Bridge. But maybe I’m just being a romantic.
Congratulations on getting my wife and I to laugh out loud for a lengthy period of time….:-)
Well, I will be looking forward to another showdown final with Aston Villa or Mk Dons.
Like our league cup experience, Man Utd might just cause the biggest upset, if not, Arsenal vs Derby will also be a great final only after they have put St. Shit in their rightful place.
Fifthe round here we come then!
Dear Complacency,
Fuck off.
But yeah, we should be okay. Should be…
I’d love to see rotation for this game. We should have a strong enough squad to handle them.
Is it wrong to prefer win or loss over a rematch?
Yes it is…
Burnley in the FA Cup? Here’s to another beach goal!
Martin Taylor is a cunt.
That was my first ever match at the Emirates, and to this day Eduardo’s goal is the best I’ve ever seen.
If I wasn’t the manager on the receiving end I would be waxing all lyrical,” said Coyle. “They showed the goal a couple of times on the screen and I watched it back, not to add any more punishment but to see if he was offside.
“I don’t think he was. The finish seemed to get better every time so I decided to stop watching.’’
Good draw. Couldn’t have asked for better.
just in time for welbeck & rosiskys return and Arteta should be more match fit happy with this one
Is BallondOr scripted?
“The Gunners have twice played Burnley in the competition during the Arsenal era…”
Arsene era???
Unfortunately not ‘unprecedented’… I think Blackburn managed 3 in a row in the 80s. Bastards.
***1880s woops… and Wanderers fc did it?
You big silly. Football didn’t exist before the Premier League.
Maybe for Arsenal?
I actually looked through this. The FA cup has been won 4 times in a row trice: first by Wanderers, then by Rovers and then, more recently, by Spurs.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FA_Cup_finals
There is a ‘R’ in brackets..
Wrong, replays do not count as wins, go back to your Wiki page and read carefully, The Shit won it twice in a row with two replays = 4 games.
I think the Arsenal are the only team to have three consecutive appearances in the Final, losing two 🙁 and winning one
I think the Arsenal are the only team to have three consecutive appearances in the Final (in recent history that is)
They also had the biggest winning margin in history. That 1-1 against QPR was HUGE!!!!
I think he means post war
Northampton Town and MK Dons should be an exciting match.
They’ll be shitting themselves knowing they’ll be facing “The Jeff”…COYG
No Walsall in that full draw? If only we could have drawn arsenal…
That’ll do, we’ve had some nice fortune with home games in the fa cup in recent seasons, good that city will have to travel away every advantage helps this year.
That thing has our stadium’s name written all over it.
Budweiser?
It’s called now emirates as in emirates stadium. If you also look very closely you will see its the same inscription on the chest of all the current shirts. Also if you look around the stadium uphand side and turn around you may see the same. Now the budd one if an old picture.
I cannot wait for the stadium to get it’s proper name back “Äshburton Grove” sounds posh. “The Grove”” sounds just right
I was hoping for a home draw. Check. I was hoping for someone lower than us in the league (that would be everyone). Check. I was hoping Rosicky would be back in contention. Czech. I was hoping we’d have the best goalkeeper in the competition. Cech. Good draw then…
I see what you did there.
We owns the FA cup….. We can decide not to participate but for fans sake and for the world to enjoy good football cos we are the undisputed champion…… Gunners forever
That’s a great draw all round. Not only did we get lower league opposition, all of the other “big” clubs got drawn away and face banana-skin type ties. There also seem to be quite a few lower league vs. lower league ties, meaning that there will still be plenty of chances to draw lower league opposition in the next round. The only way it could have been better is if we’d drawn the winner of Bolton and the Beast(leigh).
Effin’ Joey Barton…
Me personally id prefer to go out of the FA cup… but if we keep getting draws like this it shouldnt effect our title challenge to much and gives good opportunities to our younger players.. so im fine with this draw cant complain really 🙂
Wash your mouth out with soap and go to bed. Now.
Why, because he expressed his opinion?
Let’s not Le Grove here, ok?
Look we want to win the league right? if going out highers our chances of wining the league even by 1% its worth it…. i understand wining the cup for a 3rd time would be a huge achievement but im so focused on the league this season cause of this opportunity we have to win it so i believe we should make it our main priority…. but guys just my opinion thats all it is… no need to get but hurt!
Jason, how about a league & cup double? Impossible you say? Methinks it’s achievable.
I was thinking that but then i think back to that Southampton 4-0 defeat…
So first thing I read this morning is about the loss of David Bowie and as I get ready for bed, I find out my local pro soccer team is shutting down. If that’s not the definition of a shit day, then I don’t know what is…
Go MK Dons!!
The ONLY team I like less than Chelsea.
what about Sp*rs?
For me it’s not a good draw after all:
1- It’s better to play against strong sides in january with a more relaxed schedule than play in difficult matches after, in the middle of UCL and PL games.
2- Just 1-2 games between Premier League sides.
It’s better to not play strong teams at all.
You’re likely to draw stronger sides in the later stages regardless if you play some of them earlier. And even ‘smaller’ sides can give you hell in the later stages, see how we struggled vs Wigan and Reading in the semis. So the best way is to draw smaller teams in the earlier rounds, then be ready for the bigger fish later.
The other premiership teams also got “easy” draws except Manchester “Untied” of course, I see Derby beating them at The Baseball Ground (sic for the good ole days)
That’ll do quite nicely.
The most important thing for us (and any top team) in the Cup draws is to get home matches where we know the match will be played on a good pitch (and not some muddy rugby field) so that we can play our style of football.
thanks Ian!
Sam vokes seems like a good lad
Good stuff…. In the cup you want to go up against teams chasing promotion or fighting relegation, they cant afford to ignore the cash cow of playing in the higher tier.
Also happy to see stoke – Palace and West Ham – Liverpool. Four teams that are in a position to target the cup so good that only two will make the fifth round.
