Arsenal’s defence of the FA Cup will continue with a fifth round clash against Hull City.
The Gunners have so far overcome Sunderland and Burnley at the Emirates as they bid for an unprecedented third consecutive success in the competition.
It’s the third successive season that the teams have met in the famous old competition. The Gunners came from 2-0 down in the final in 2014 to win 3-2 when Aaron Ramsey’s extra-time goal brought the trophy back to North London.
Last season the teams played a third round tie at the Emirates with Arsenal progressing thanks to goals from Per Mertesacker and Alexis Sanchez.
The fifth round clash will take place on the weekend of 19-22 February sandwiched between home games against Leicester and Barcelona.
A home draw. Great news!
Everytime we play Hull we win the Cup…..bring it on
plus City vs. Chelski so one of them will be out. We’ve had some great draws in the FA cup recently, a little makeup for all the terrible CL draws we have.
Would an FA Cup with 2nd or 3rd in the league please fans this year? I think the league is wide open and really hope we can clinch it this year so I’m not sure…
Where does it say ‘home draw’ anywhere in the above article?
New record! Seconds after the draw!
No idea what you mean…
Happy days!
Manure jammy, enjoying the chav scum v oil bums, hope palace turn over the spuds and we get hull!!!
Andy Mangan the Shrewsbury striker will score a hat trick to knock out Utd
City vs Chelsea. What a tie that is. It’ll be wonderful watching the City fans rooting against the team they supported last season.
Arsenal: The FA cup hattrick specialist
Chelsea vs Man City, great draw.
Your name makes me smile like a blithering idiot every time I see it. Thank you.
Spurs vs Palace is handy as well.
Good draw for City. There aren’t too many bottom half, relegation strugglers left in the draw.
I want us to knock out Chelsea.
Favorable and welcomed draw. Continue the march towards a third straight trip to Wembley. COYG
Was hoping for a home draw against Spurs.
This is still good.
Hull might be our good luck charm in this competition.
Fantastic draw!
Hull at home should be straightforward, and either Chavski or the Middleastlands will be eliminated from the next round. And Spud have a tricky one away to Palace.
Play a strong side and we’re in with a great chance of winning it again.
“winning it again” Fats? With Wenger???? 😉
Spuds are home to palace actually
Silly me!
Thank you.
BTW: I see John Terry is leaving Chavski at the end of the season. He would be a a decent free contract signing for next season; a typical Le Prof piece of business: pay him 200k a week, offset by no signing-on fee. He’s still in good shape and would be a good back-up to Kos, Mert and Gabriel.
What do you think?
Trolling are we?
You want us to sign the biggest cunt in history?
I would argue that Diego Costa gets that award. However, having said that, John Terry is definitely the mayor of Cuntland.
Optimistic and hilarious! Its like Piers Morgan had mind control over you. Welcome back!
I think it’s called sarcasm
some people here just don’t get it.
Who are you and when did you eat Fatgooner?
Will Akpom and Hayden be allowed to play against Arsenal?
Yes. Akpom and Hayden are technically eligible to play against Arsenal, but there might be a gentlemen’s agreement between the clubs that says they can’t play against their parent club.
Are you sure?
I hope Alan pardew isn’t gentlemanly about Adebayor playing against the Spuds then.
Adebayor was released by Spurs… they’ve got no say in whether he plays or not.
I think players on loan have to be given express permission by the parent club
Could be, I’m not 100% sure. But I seem to recall back in 2011 was it when the on loan Sanchez Watt turned out for Leeds against us in the FA Cup. I was surprised at the time that such an arrangement was allowed because I know it’s not kosher in the Premier League. But maybe we gave Leeds permission because we knew he was shit?
Blogs is right. Against Leeds, we gave explicit permission for Watt to play because Wenger wanted him to get the Cup experience.
Hayden is back in our u21 squad. So unless he wears a red shirt he won’t play… I’m curious about akpom tho
He’s still listed in the Hull City squad….
We’d have to rotate heavily for this fixture considering it’s sandwiched between two very important games against Leicester and Barcelona.
A very favourable home draw considering the above circumstances.
Hull will probably rotate too. They’re in the middle of a big promotion push. I think they made 10 changes to their starting XI for their 4th round FA tie.
It’s a week after Leicester and we’ve got Barca at home so should thrash those lot easily enough….
Depends also when the game is moved. Friday night would be fine, but that will be the Shrewsbury Man U game. No doubt it will be the last game on Sunday…
We have a week between the Leicester match and the FA Cup match, so I don’t think we’ll see quite as much rotation as we did against Burnley. Hopefully we will be the Friday night match to give us extra time to prepare for Barcelona.
Gunning for a treble!

Would prefer city to get IP over chelski. Would prefer they continue to have as many games as we do, at least for the near future.
And for that reason, I hope it’s a draw.
Hope a brawl breaks out and players get red cards and bans left and right and also Costa chokes on Joe Hart’s dandruff.
Then they can win the replay after extra time and the longest penalty shoot-out in galactic history.
And after the melee at the end of penalties, 22 players from each team are banned from all competitions for the rest of the season.
What, even longer than that penalty shootout between Athletico Neptune and FC Proxima Centauri in the Galactic League, that due to a passing quantum event warping the space/time continuum, lasted 38 years? That would certainly put a hole in Citeh’s title chances.
That was a classic shootout! 1,285,304,662 penalty kicks each before there was a winner. There were grandchildren of the original spectators at the finish!
Just waiting for BT or BBC to announce that the kick off time will be 10:45pm so no one will be able to attend. Spirit the cup!
Great draw. Bring it on!
They must be sick of the sight of us. Poor Hull
A good omen!!
Still some tough teams in this competition so it is nice to see us avoid an EPL team in the next round!!
Mouth watery draw, Onward fellow gunners and gooners to the Fa Cup trebble. COYG we can do this.
I would prefer to be very very cautious.
Similar situation when we landed monaco in cl last year (monaco considered one of the easier team in the competition), only to be kicked out from the competition.
Welbeck hat trick!
That will be a Hull side without their most talented striker and holding midfielder!
I was sure a picture of Arsenal during the ’14 final was going to accompany this article. Oh well. Hopefully Cazorla will be ready in time to take the free kicks against Hull.
A really welcome draw..coyg
Deja vu all over again.
It’s going to be a hull of a game!
I’m off
And to make the day even better Terry has been told to f..ck off by Chelski at the end of the season!! Happy days
Steve Bruce : “FFS.”
So we have to play the (current) leaders of the Premier League, Championship and La Liga in a row.
BRING IT ONNNN
Let’s play all home games till the Semis 🙂 That’s how we won it two years ago
Home draws are so important in the FA Cup, still have to field a strong team and come out ready to play, but far better playing on a quality pitch at home vs some of the fields of the lower level clubs this time of year.
