Olivier Giroud says he’s determined to do his best for Arsenal to help win the title for the first time since 2004, and that he’s not worried about the people who don’t like him.
The Frenchman has 18 goals so far this campaign, and he’s aiming to hit 30 goals as he looks to contribute to another trophy winning season.
“I would like to reach 20 goals in the Premier League, that would be nice and if I can help the team to reach our aims then I would be pleased with that,” he said.
“For me, it would be nice if I could reach between 25 and 30 in all the competitions. It’s going to be tight until the end. It could even be that goal difference makes the difference.”
Giroud has been lightning on his feet this season, and reiterated his desire to do what he can to make the team more effective.
“I try so hard to give my best for the team,” he said. “I want to give everything to always improve myself, that’s what I’ve been doing this year and hopefully I will reach my targets, my number of goals, to help this team to win the title.
“That’s the main thing for me. After that, you will always have haters and people who don’t like you, but that doesn’t matter to me. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it or anything like that.”
Let’s hope that on Sunday when he gets the attention of the Chelsea defenders, he can just shake it off.
And John Terry falls over again.
i will say just oil your gorgeous hair and drive in a powerful header from ozils free kick caused by a john terry for your 19th to start with….
And now I have that god awful Taylor Swift song stuck in my head thanks arseblog
You’re welcome. Hope this doesn’t mean we have bad blood though.
That’s even worse blogs, but I could feel that reply In The Air Tonight (paybacks a bitch)
Band aids don’t fix bullet holes, blogs.
Just sh-shake it off ?
I don’t get any of the Taylor Swift references and that makes me feel both happy and old.
I think it might be a new bird species of the genus apodidae named after that ref that sent Di Maria off at OT last year. Latin name Apus Taylorus
Can’t fault his effort and attitude but you can’t help but shake the feeling that between himself and Walcott they’ll butcher a few tap ins…
Still all part of the game we love.
Love Giroud. Underrated and under appreciated by far too many. Glad he’s proving his qualities.
It is really tragic when the “haters” are largely from our very own “fanbase”. How can one support a team while at the same time hating the players that gave everything to the club?
Took me a while to accept it, but, in the end, they’re not real supporters. They just aren’t. And they know who they are and aren’t worth our time.
one of the most underrated striker in the whole world. What he contributes to the team just goes unnoticed. Call it defending set-piece, bringing midfield into play , assisting best team play goal, giving hard times to the center back, and 100 percent commitment to the team. Only one thing he lacks is pace but he just cant be judge based on that. We all know that he can be annoying at times when he misses the simpliest chance but we also have to remember how many crucial goals he has scored over the years. Go Giroud, help us win… Read more »
Agree with this. The best of the big man strikers around. Works his hole off and has improved every year.
You need silly money to improve on giroud for his type… or change the team dynamic and go back a step
Son, always remember these words;
“i don’t know all the answers to success but i know one key to failure is ‘trying to impress everyone!'”
So, all you haters, Giroud doesn’t give a shit what you think.
Hopefully I’m pretty much talking to nobody 🙂
(Anyway, in the PL he’s joint 5th highest scorer, and he’s only 3 goals off of the top scorers, and a hat-trick against Chelsea will fix that)
Our Coq needs to shake his injury off!.. Right?
Gooners love Giroud, goons don’t! Nothing to worry about there then! <3 OG12 <3
Its about time Arsenal beat Chelsea. I expect a series of robust tackles and its up to
the mo to dish out cards. If not the Blues players will be emboldened and could even
seriously injure the gunners.
Eduardo’s broken knee is an example. The incompetent ref did not take action early on.
If he had ,Eduardo could have fired Arsenal to the title. You never know.
Some of these error prone mo shd be deregistered. The ref at the Chelsea Everton game is one example.
More like the Chelsea Arsenal game….
Hating Giroud is a sure sign of a simpleton. If we were linked to someone with his attributes and numbers for £30m-£40m “the haters” would be dribbling with anticipation (instead of just for the usual reasons).
There was time when we were asking wenger to sign benteke for 32 million pounds. Thanks god we are not the manager of Arsenal Football Club !!
Wasn’t there a bit of an outrage when Arsene didn’t sign Balotelli (what a BARGAIN!) in the summer of 2014 as well? I must say that it was highly amusing to see the LFC centre forwards implode…
Inner>Arse, are u quoting from Jerry Maguire?
For what it’s worth, I do think Giroud has become a little bit quicker, or at least nippier.
The number of first headers he wins is just incredible. As noted in the tactics column, Cech to Giroud was Arsenal’s most fruitful passing combination in the Liverpool game.
I remember when he was knew ppl were like he sucks, but I was like no he gets into great goal scoring positions the goals will come. In yo face all those who hated on Giroud from the start! In yo face!
i really like giroud, but have to say that the more exciting football we’ve played this season has been with walcott up front. both are great options to have to mix things up.
Right on the money SDB. Wenger needs to switch things up upfront. We seem to forget how we walked all over manure with Walcott upront. Those couple of performances where he did start in that position have been our bestest this season. The game against Bayern on our grounds i couldnt believe the speed of our counter attacks, it was incredible. Giroud has been great too so am up for Arsene using them both. Please take Theo off the wings Arsene.
Good for him, though I reckon it hasn’t been easy at times.
Arsenal are been blessed with some of the most discerning, intelligent, erudite, witty and knowledgeable fans (witness Lawrence, Hornby & Mr. Blogs) sadly we also have some of the dumbest, I’ll-informed, fickle fools that follow the club (one particular loud-mouth that sits behind me at THOF springs to mind). In my time I’ve had to defend; Radford, Stapleton, Thomas, Smudger, Pires, Ramsey, Wenger and now Giroud against the haters – it’s my least favourite part of being a Gooner.
Giroud has been immense for the club.
And………he’s improving!
Oli responding to Shearer this time I think, who said ‘any striker at arsenal should be getting 20-30 goals in the league’ Oli should stop watching motd, skysports, stick a film on instead…
are you stupid or what ? He is answering questions from the journalist, he said he doesn’t give a shit about what pundits think, and i’m pretty sure he is not watching MOTD…
I dont get this whole “everyone is who doesnt think that Giroud is brilliant is a hater or not a fan” attitude. He’s not an elite striker and Wenger’s tried replacing him with Suarez, Benzema and Higuain for a reason.
That said he is a good player and you cant fault his endeavor.
I like his emphasis on improving himself.
