Wenger: No Gnabry recall … yet

Reports earlier this week suggested that Serge Gnabry would return from his unsuccessful loan spell at West Brom after agreement had been reached between the two clubs.

The young German barely played for The Baggies since joining last summer, and it was thought that his return to Arsenal might precipitate another loan spell with Brighton in the Championship thought to be interested.

Indeed, Tony Pulis hinted as if it were to be cut short, saying, “The clubs are still talking.

“For the kid, if you speak to him, he wants to play week in week out. It’s very difficult to guarantee someone that week in week out.

“He picked up an injury before he came and he was a little bit weighty, a bit heavy and it took us a while to get him into that mode.”

However, speaking today Arsene Wenger cast some doubt on the situation, saying, “He’s on loan at West Brom, a year-long loan. We have a commitment.

“The player wanted to go there. We have a commitment with West Brom.

“If they want to cancel the loan, they have to contact us and speak about it. But at the moment, we are not there.”

Chances are this is more of a financial issue, with some contractual/wage-related nuts and bolts to be ironed out.

Ultimately, it’s probably in the interest of all parties that Gnabry might end up somewhere that he can actually play a bit of football.

Tony Pulis teams don’t play football anyway, so irrespective of games I’m not entirely sure there’s an education to be had at West Brom other than precisely how not to play the game.

@Zeus Exactly. Get him back to his club – Arsenal. He was injured for a long time then got shipped out to Shit Brom. How are their training facilities compared to ours? Shit. How are the players surrounding him and their coach compared to ours? Really fuckin shit.
Get him home, let him train and rebuild confidence with a title winning team for the next 5 months. Have a good pre season and then be deadly for us in August.

ferngunner

And not just abit of football but proper football aswell, the one where the ball goes along the ground?

I feel bad for this kid… No young player should be involved in this kind of business, especially if he is a huge talent like Gnabry. He needs game time for his development and maybe some Championship side would do him good…

Dear Serge, please contact Rambo. Man knows a thing or two about how to make a comeback from a serious injury.

I’ve always thought if you’re good enough then you’ll play…

Despite our feelings towards Pullis I’m pretty sure he knows a lot more about football than most people posting here.

The kid is clearly struggling post injury so maybe it’ll just take some time…

Well, any high prospect is a potential failure. The other ones are just failures.

He’s started about one game since the start of the season, away to Norwich in the COC. I went to the game (Norwich are my second team) Have to agree with Pulis, he did look a bit overweight, he worked hard though, not brilliant, not terrible. Good when he was subbed because my brother (Arsenal fan) kept yelling his name… in the Norwich end!!!

God is Bergkamp, Bergkamp is God

Jesus, the moping around about this kid already. He’s 20 years old ffs, give the kid a fucking chance to come back and play.
