Arsenal could face Watford in the next round of the FA Cup after the draw for the quarter-finals was made this evening.
Of course the Gunners have to get past Hull in the 5th round replay, which will be played at the KC Stadium, after the 0-0 draw on Saturday.
The game will take place at the Emirates if Arsene Wenger’s side can overcome Hull at the second time of asking.
The teams last met in the FA Cup in the 2001-2 season, at Vicarage Road, when goals from Thierry Henry, Freddie Ljungberg, Dennis Bergkamp and Kanu helped secure a 4-2 win on the way to winning the double.
More of the same please.
We’re going to Wenbley
Ah those famous Wenbley steps and it’s incredible ark.
Hopefully it won’t be decided by a pelanty
One step at a time. Got to beat Whatford first, H.
I have to disagree. all I am thinking now is who we will get in the Semi….COYG!!
dull city first
agree….but first step is actually to beat Hull first?….we should’nt take that as a given, Hull, as they showed at the emirates this weekend, will simply not roll over an play dead for us, we might have to earn that win.
When the time comes don’t put “Wenbley” in your SatNav…;-)
Impossibly fast blogs. Good draw. + Everton vs Chelsea.
Winnable game provided we beat hull. Slightly dissapointed that we can’t look forward to another Welbeck old Trafford winner, then again that would mean United actually beating Shrewsbury!
There’s always next Sunday.
Couldn’t have asked for a better draw really just got to get past a tricky replay then should be Wembley bound again
Decent draw. The treble dream is alive.
For more of this we will need more Henrys, or at least one.
Nice draw considering the teams left in the competition! Looks like we could be going to Wembley!
As it’s always important we win every game we also have to celebrate when the shit down the Lane lose. A great win for Palace and I hope Sp?rs spiral downwards continues. COYG!
Hear hear!……fuck the spuds!….and my happiest FA cup moment from the weekend was the tv close up on the spuds players on final whistle and the look of abject misery at realising that despite all their huffing and puffing, they’ve just been knocked out of the FA cup, again?….priceless!
We’ve won the FA cup so many times they’ve decided to honour us by naming it after our stadium. Couldn’t have asked for a much better draw.
No surprise we had all those four on target in 2000/1 season.
what are the odds of having welbeck, walcott, giroud and Campbell / Chamberlain scoring in the same competitive game.
Not bashing but simply wondering
You lost me…
Everyone seems to be focused on Watford when we’ve still got hull to contend with.Personally,I feel that would be the trickiest tie we’ll play in this competition. If we overcome,we’ll have Watford at home, then(possibly) the rest in a neutral ground.Hull would also fancy their chances vs Watford so it won’t an easy game.Go behind us,complacency!
No, we will piss it don’t worry mate!
That’s the spirit ?
If we go to kc stadium and produce 24 attempts including 9 on target then the question is how many their goal keeper will keep out this time? Last game was sheer frustration. But to cheer us up THE SPUDS ARE OUT. See? Not a bad weekend after all. We are going to wennbeley
One game at a time fellas.
Should be pleased with the draw.
As a season ticket holder, all I can think of is another fucking home game.
Getting quite broke now
I remember that Kanu goal.
just play the first team and go through for fucks sake !
Would be nice to do a hat trick of FA Cups.
A third double under Arsene would also be good. They are both very realistic prospects. The Champions League can wait until next season. If we don’t get at least a draw against Barca on Tuesday, then we should send a team of kids to the Camp Nou.
I really want to win the league title more than anything else this season.
Weirdly, for me the League and third consecutive FA cup are more important than the Champions league.
To win a third double in the same year as making history with the FA cup excites me.
Very good draw thats if we overcome Hull city which we should
Am I the only person who thinks Hull City will prove difficult? Considering our fixtures, if we get past Hull then we have another incredible chance of winning three in a row!!
COYG
You are not, i’m afraid : ) i guess Hull will get third time lucky this time – see lots of drama in that replay game with possible red cards and penalties -not for Arsenal of course ! hope to be wrong !
Hull were third time lucky last week, with a once-in-a-lifetime performance by their keeper and a once-every-week performance by Mike Dean. At least for the replay they won’t have Dean helping them out. We’ll smash them in the replay.
I would like to meet the chavs in the final and get revenge for them cheating up out of six points!!!
I would also like it, for the same reasons, were it guaranteed that there’s no chance of M.Dean refereeing that final. We could be cheated out of six points and a final!
😉
Does anyone know when the replay with Hull will be played? I was looking at our fixtures and really the only opportunity will be a mid-week game before the FA Cup quarter finals? So we will play two FA cup games in a row?
I don’t think we can play the week before the quarterfinal because there are champions League games that week, and top flight teams from around Europe can’t play an CL game days. The only thing I can see happening is that the Swansea match will be postponed to make way for the Cup replay.
Great draw.
I agree with that comment above that we mustn’t take that replay with Hull for granted, but we now have a great chance to make history. By the time we finally play that game at the KC we’ll probably be out of the Champions’ League: that means we can focus on the FA Cup.
Our players have proven that they don’t have the guts to win the title and will fall away again, so the FA Cup is our only real chance of glory. Let’s go for it.
You are so predictable, Fatgooner. Booooring.
Boring? Don’t think so. I, for one, look forward to what he has to say. Sometimes he just comes across as a gloom merchant masquerading as a realist, but essentially somewhere between a cynic and a downright pessimist. Fatgooner does make sense sometimes, only just the dispassionate/unbiased ingredients are too apparent for someone who claims to be a FAN.
we may have to play the replay v Hull on the Monday after the NLD on the Saturday, as Tuesday and Wednesday have CL games and the Thursday has EL, and UEFA rules do not allow fixture competition, if the Hull game is not played on the Monday, it would mean it being played on the Weekend of the QF’s with the winners having to find a new date for the Watford game. And seeing as, if we win the replay, we will have to find a free date for the BPL game v WBA, that would be called off… Read more »
So how did Barcelona play on the same day that Madrid had a CL game?
the game was played earlier in the day and was over before the CL games began, of course Hull V Arsenal could be played on the Tue or wed, but would have to be over by 7.45, and with the possibility of extra time and penalties we’d have to have a kick off time of 4.30 at the latest, can you see it being fixed with a 4.30pm kick off time
Becouse of that kind of spirit,we haven’t won so many trophies in last decade. To put it simple-we are Arsenal and we have to win a match against second tier and then Watford,it doesn’t metter if it’s played on their pitch and if we play second team.
Would it be nice (I mean very nice) to meet Chelski at the final and beat the bloody arse out off them?
