Francis Coquelin says he’s looking forward to Sunday’s clash with Manchester United having been buoyed by last season’s FA Cup win and Premier League draw at Old Trafford.
The Gunners ran 3-0 winners when the two teams met at the Emirates in October as Alexis Sanchez’s brace and Mesut Ozil’s calm finish inflicted the damage inside the opening 20 minutes.
Speaking to Arsenal Player the midfielder claimed the squad are full of confidence after their last-gasp win over Leicester City; a victory that narrowed the gap on Claudio Ranieri’s table-topping outfit to two points.
“I think it’s been a difficult [season] for Man United but in big games like this, we know that they’re going to turn up, because everyone loves these kind of matches,” said the Frenchman.
“It would be a massive win for them to beat us. But we’re going to be ready.
“We beat Leicester and I think the whole team is conscious that, if we want to win the title, we have to win against these kind of teams. Man United are always going to be a great team. Even if they had a bad spell, they still have a strong squad.
“Last year we didn’t lose to them away from home [in two matches]. We showed that we can do something against them away.
“We won there in the FA Cup and drew there in the league. We’re going to go there full of confidence after what we did last year.
“We’ve just beaten the team at the top of the league and shown that we have the desire to do well and grab silverware at the end of the season.”
oh god, can we stop this pre-match talking?
you clicked the article pal
I think he was referring to the players. Theo is the worst for it though. After a good win saying that teams fear us etc. Just shut up and do the talking on the pitch
Looks like he took a dump and out came tumbling young, of the bird poop in the mouth fame. Hope yall rediscover your scoring touch. We haven’t handed a hiding to anyone this season …yet
We have a better team but it will count for nothing if we don’t prove that on the pitch today for 90 minutes.
Can’t add anything more. We have to beat them
Farkin ‘ell. Thought this was an Arsenal blog. It sickens me to even consider reading, let alone posting on a Manure site. They must be worried.
Eh?
Bouncy Young Coq
You mean Coq bounced on Young.
Time to step up and show our quality.COYG.
I just hope the boys are fresh and ready to kick some butt out of the team I loathe more than any other!!!
An 8 2 scoreline would make me happy. As long as we score 8
I just hope Fellaini doesn’t get away with elbowing everyone 12 times before being punished with a ceremonial free kick in the 88th minute.
He’s injured you’ll be pleased to know.
Well, I for one am as nervous as fuck…..Cock this one up and it’s curtains, win and the belief will be flowing again.
Off to the pub for me.
COYG
Let me start by saying I love our Coq.
However, their easier run-in, combined with last minute goals in a game they didn’t deserve to win (Norwich) mean I think Vardy’s chavs will win the league.
Unless we win pretty much all our tensioning games, I don’t think we’ll have enough.
That said, let’s beat manure today please lads.
COYG!!!
They are plagued by injury (no Rooney, De Gea, Martial and their CBs are all doubts) so we really have no excuses if we don’t win today.
If we want to win the league, we have to beat every kind of team, not just this kind.
Don’t talk about it, be about it! Shut up!!!
