Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth.
After the game against Southampton, there are no fresh injuries, although Arsene Wenger said Tomas Rosicky would be out for a ‘longer time’.
“His injury is quite a serious one,” said Wenger, revealing a ‘partial rupture’ of tendon. He estimated an absence of two or three months, but refused to rule out the possibility that he’d played his last game for the club.
Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck is due to play an U21 game today as he mounts his comeback from a lengthy injury.
“I believe he needs to play two or three games before he can come back into the first team,” said the manager.
“He hasn’t played for ten months, so we have to be a bit patient with him. He has a good basic fitness, but it’s about competitiveness and decision making.
“We have to be a bit patient with him, he will need two or three games – he could be back in two or three weeks.”
Just fucking win
Can’t add much more than that.
Let’s hope the Coq is back. And Elneny (on the bench at least!)
Yes, Elneny definitely needs to be on the bench. No reason not to see Coquelin start.
This is a MUST WIN match
Tomas – sad stuff all round. We could have had a new player who could make a difference to our season, he could have played his last game for us and it must have been soul-destroying trying to get back to the team only to get injured.
Good luck to him.
I like Tomas, but please stop thinking that he could have been decisive in this season! Stop over-estimating his influence on the squad, he hasn’t played for months, last time it wasn’t great, he is 35! This said, i like his heart.
Alex, have you watched us over the past few seasons? Tomas has played a key part in our good runs at the end of the season, if you think his energy & drive wouldn’t have been useful in the title run in then you are deluded, just because he’s 35 doesn’t mean he can’t have a big influence on the team
You have said everything I wanted to say, better.
Dat Guy!
Next two games are must win. Then we have raft of difficult away fixtures such as Man U, Spurs, Everton and West Ham.
Really sorry for Rosicky, yet glad that Welbeck is making progress. Here’s to hoping he can help in the last part of the season. I think in the next match the team has to go all out (like they should every time). This can’t be a 1:0 struggle.
Don’t care how it’s done, we need those 3 points.
We lose this, chances of us winning the league slip away. 5 games and no wins isn’t exactly a sign of a champion team. But let’s see what happens! Hoping for a big win.
This is it now. The pressure is on and we need to find some form, and quickly!
Come on Arsenal. Do not disappoint!
Poor Tommy! 🙁
We’ll win this,we won’t win the league. Not trying to get down on the team, we’ve a good base in Cech, Bellerin, Monreal, Kos, Santi, Coq, Mesut and Alexis. But lets face it, we’re modern Arsenal. We’re not supposed to be happy.
I think we have much more than a solid base. We would have the best squad in the league if we had three things: – A better Walcott. We looked great with him as our striker at the start of the season and he used to be great at scoring important goals from the wing. We need both of those things (nothing against Giroud, we need him too), but right now he looks incapable of delivering either. If Walcott can rediscover his striker form we could also just bring in a new goalscoring winger and accept that Walcott is purely… Read more »
Was hoping to see Welbz back a leetle bit sooner tbh but Arsene knows eh 😐
Hope Elneny is not injured?? didn’t make the bench against Saint
After what happened with Rosicky returning after a long absence Wenger surely will be overly cautious with Welbeck’s return. Rosicky’s (and others that have been hurt upon return) show just what a difference there is between live first team game action there is between U21 play and training in terms of the speed/intensity of it. If he has a partial rupture of the tendon and with his track record of slow returns over his career I am optimistic about seeing him play again this year (as much as I want him to).
I don’t think qe should get away with this with some one nil scrappy way. I really think we should make a statement that we are up for it maybe 3 or 4 goals with a cleansheet would be perfect.
For the record, i still think Per has tones of experience than Gabriel which makes him an undisputed starter(for now). All credit to Gabriel but he just needs a year maybe to get to know the game more.
The next two games are really crucial !!!
This is a tragedy for Rosicky, but his situation is typical of the problem at Arsenal and a reflection of Wenger’s lack of ruthlessness that you require to win big trophies. Rosicky, Diaby Wilshere, Welbeck have all been plagued with long term injury problems, yet the manager has continued to stand by them. His loyalty is admirable, but ultimately it means the squad has too many passengers who cannot contribute in any meaningful way. When you add his misplaced belief in certain players abilities like Walcott, and a reluctance to spend, has meant the team has stagnated and fallen behind… Read more »
When will Santi Cazorla be back? We miss him as much as the others.
We have to win no matter what, if we lose this game the pressure will really really be upon us especially from the spuds above us and Man U creeping up ?
I am confident we can win this…COYG!
i just want to ask a few questions.
What about Wenger if he doesn’t win te title?
Do you think that he is able to lead the team in winning major title anymore?
i adore him but i think he is done, he is overpassed.
i’m sorry my english is not so good.
Cannot wait to see Welbeck back!
Wenger out
Let’s smash it today coyg!.
