A by the numbers that doesn’t make me want to shoot myself in the face at last
Your egg is under cooked imo.
Folks, if Vescucci asks you over for breakfast, do not go!
🙂
Whenever I’ve been depressed with the state of the Arse this year I simply picture the look of disappointment on the sp*rs mongrels when St. Totteringham’s day arrives this year (albeit later than I expected) and remember my grannie’s old saying “Red sky at night…….shite hart lane is alight”
Complacency?
Last season we didn’t do well against the S teams – Spurs, Swansea, Stoke, Southampton ie the teams around mid-table and above that we had a better chance against but did well against the top sides.
The stats here seem to be saying the same, we do well against the top third (1st in the league) but not so well against the top half (6th in the league), so worst against the teams that we should be more expected to win against and this implies we go into the matches more complacently.
How does that theory sound?
‘Beavis Kane’. Classic.
hehe hehehe he hehe he hehehe hehe
I am cornholio!! I need TP for my bunghole!
Yep, Butthead Hane fits too!
Thought the same thing. Surprised I had never seen the resemblance before.
We played well defensively today. Really happy.
But did you notice in the second half how many counterattacks we had that came to nothing? Actually, this is a pattern I’ve noticed for the last few months. We just seem to misplace passes or lack incisiveness when breaking, over and over again. Players don’t seem to know where the other is running (or going to run), or the pass accuracy is just off.
I miss the days we could hit teams on the counter and actually punish them. Feels like years since we’ve done that.
Yes agreed, the build up to that Iwobi goal was so slow and pedestrian.
Agree.
Leicester away though?, I’d say we were pretty efficient.
Yup, that was good. But that was an exception, right?
We remembered how to pass today, in fact the close quarters passing was excellent imo.
That was because the players moved into space so there was someone to pass to. Other games they had not eg Theo.
1 – clueless Mark clattenburg (spelling)
Should have had 2 penalties today
0 – penalties given.
Proper spelling is Mank Clatterburg.
Mank Cuntenburg
Clattenburg clearly looked at his own Arsenal stats before the game – he’s given us 10 penalties and never given one against us. You’d really prefer to have Mike Dean?
0- The chances of us oveturning an 11 points deficit over leicster over 7 games even with a game in hand.
12- seasons we have been waiting since our last title.
Leicester have won 5 games from their last six, all by only one goal.
They have failed to score more than one goal in all of their last five wins.
The pressure WILL start to take effect on them…can anyone hear the obese female singing yet??…COYG!
Unfortunately their 1 goal has given them 3 points each time although they did only play shit teams like Aston Village, New Castle and Crystal Palace. Let’s see what they can do against Southampton, West Ham, Everton, United and Chelsea. I hope these teams have learnt their lesson and won’t underestimate the foxes again.
I’m sure Leicester and their fans are mourning the failure to score more than 1 goal
The point is that they are struggling to score goals and that struggle will increase under the pressure that is coming.
But, if you want to be sad and give up all hope, then go ahead, enjoy!
0 Numbers of arsenal fans who aren’t aware that we’re highly unlikely to win the league
0 Reasons not to just enjoy the victory anyway.
Zero chance despite them playing against Southampton, Man united, Chelsea and resurgent Swansea & West Ham? That’s 5 out of 7 very difficult fixtures. Do you still want to hand them over the title?
Im seeing alot on clattenburg here today
Imo sanchez stayed on his feet then dived, maybe im buying into the commentator on fox sports 1 here.
Gabriel shouldve been red carded vs watford and koscielny shouldve got a second yellow vs burnley.
Average PL fan insert *team name* never have decisions go in our favour.
End of the day we beat Everton and Gabriel went up in my estimation today in keeping a very talented lukaku quiet.
Read the rules, my friend. Sanchez was tripped. Fallnor no dall, it’s a foul.
…easy for you to say…:-)
Either way, some decisions will go against us and some will be in our favour.
Everyone played well, and Alex-Alex Iwobi got a great goal and I’m very happy for the lad and his celebration was something different.
Personally I’d love it if refs got on the go video replays for incidents such as the above, but knowing how backward the FA is, not sure.
I’m more than happy to complain about clattenburg if we lost 2-0 but we didn’t so lets focus on how brilliant Elneny was!
Jamie Vadinho?
Yes?
No.
ok
Not really sure why the Nigeria international comment was necessary, but ok….
I would have to assume, because everyone keeps stating how the english youth system produces no talent. It does, but then they decide to play for a different nation. I’m sure it stings a bit.
Fuck it. We dismember their way of life in the 1800s. They use our youth system to form players. Call it quits, yeah?
I’m curious to know how many interceptions Arsenal had as a team in this game. It seemed like a hundred, at least.
The reason we had so many interceptions was that Mo Besic was determined to keep passing to our players rather than any particularly great closing down.
Looks like Walcott will be off this summer if Iwobi & Campbell are more trusted in that RW position.
Yeah, some of those don’t really count as interceptions – when they pass it straight to you that’s a completed pass, not an interception.
Really glad that Gabriel gets some well deserved praise for today’s performance. I thought he was fantastic against Lukaku – shutting him down time and time again. More of the same please!
You mean he was well marked by Gabriel for the entire game then chose to let out his frustration by cluttering our keeper but was not sent off by shitenburg?
Yes i remember that Lukaku nicely tacked in Gabs’ pocket.
Agree, Gabriel looked solid today. Would like to see him and Koz finish out the season as a pairing. Two center backs with pace and aerial ability is a nice change. On a different note, would have thought Campbell would have been a better sub selection than Gibbs. Campbell defends as well from left mid and presents a superior attacking/ creative option. Also surprised Chambers was put on. Would have thought the potential additional injury to Ospina would have warranted leaving an option to sub Matt Macey. On the edge of my seat at the end of the match with… Read more »
I think the reluctance is to put Macey on. But Ospina staying put also a big risk, luckily Everton was not creating big chances at all.
No way… in my opinion.
Gibbs came in 15-20 minutes before the final whistle and I think he worked a lot to kill Everton’s attemps to build up a composed attack. Moreover Deulofeu (who came in just before Gibbs) is a very trickery player.
I agree that Campell is a great team player and capable of defending quite well but I think it is Gibbs who should be used when the most important thing is not to concede a goal…
Good for Iwobi and Nigeria.
….and Arsenal
Really like Welbeck up front. Big, powerful, and has pace. Maybe not as fast as Walcott, but his power more than makes up for the slight difference in pace. If he develops his finishing around the net, he could just be that striker we’ve been pushing for AW to buy. Remember it took AW awhile to develop RVP into a dangerous striker. Also love Iwobi’s pace and power. Just needs more experience. Don’t know about anybody else, but I am not giving up on the EPL crown until the Fat Lady Sings, and then does an encore.
A common mistake: the word “data” is plural (the singular is “datum”). So the sentence “other data is missing” should actually be “other data are missing.” 🙂
“So the sentence “other data is missing” should actually be “other data are missing.””
*stares blankly at the screen*
*turns off phone*
*goes back to sleep*
Technically it’s more complicated than that (maybe this is why my old Latin teacher called English “hillbilly Latin”), and according to this, the usage here by 7am would actually be okay: http://www.onlinegrammar.com.au/top-10-grammar-myths-data-is-plural-so-must-take-a-plural-verb/
I say forget about th title push. It died when the gunners lost to Swansea. Fans have no trust
in Wenger. And don’t be surprised the gunners finish behind the spuds. What then?
All good things must come to an end.
As well as some bad things. Like your comments.
if you carefully look at the replay sanchez briefly stayed on his feet to avoid being kneed on the head by the other onrushing everton player
that reluctance to go down immediately kinda made it look like a dive
Iwobi was born in Nigeria, to Nigerian Parents.
He is also the nephew of one of Nigerians greatest players.
Hence, no surprises he chose to play for Nigeria.
🙂
Nigeria’s*
1 iwobi one kenobi used his Jedi trick s to fool Everton
I watched the game on BT sport. It’s was a pleasant experience only ruined at times by Micheal Owen’s voice. Even when he made positive comments I really wished he’d shut up. 3 points! Let’s build on that lads
As a kid watching tv was often made less pleasant and indeed viewable by the ghosting and interference on the old aerial linked CRT TVs.
Michael Owen is the 21st century equivalent of interference.
Fucking Lily Savage is even bloody worse…all he talks about is himself and other total bollocks. Owen is almost a dream by comparison
Even if we do win the title, I hope it doesn’t disguise the fact that their is a lot of work to be done with this team… We have been poor to average for the majority of the season and it’s only because of the failings of other teams around us that we still have a chance. The premier league is undoubtedly weak this year and if we compare ourselves and the top prem teams to the best in Europe, we are a long way short of that standard. Sorry if that kills the positivity but it’s undoubtedly true and… Read more »
