An Arsenal player has apologised after losing a game of football.*
The player, aged between 19-33, stressed that the loss was not intentional and optimistically suggested that next time his side played they’d try to beat their opponents. In this case, the best side in the world [in a tie that is already 99% lost].
Making clear that team spirit is not an issue, the international, who has between 1-80 caps for his country, said that he and his teammates would ready themselves for their next game in much the same way as they had for today. With a bit of added yoga and jogging.
Bad luck, injuries to key squad members, an apathetic board of directors, ticket prices, poor officiating, a heavy schedule, the lacking olé-ing from home fans, a banner sporting incorrect grammar, being told to pass the ball sideways a lot and the terse words of a rotund celebrity fan [who failed to make it in America] weren’t explicitly mentioned as reasons for defeat…but were inferred by the look in the player’s sad, puppy dog eyes.
In contrast to the player’s apologetic explanation for the latest setback, the manager claimed the result was a farce and instead directed attention to the ‘moral victor trophy’ he’d just successfully bought on eBay from a user called DutchyCruyff1974.

* We’re pre-empting the usual nonsense so we can take Monday morning off.
This is for Mr. Blogs and the other so called Arsenal fans out there. It is a Disgrace to see even, the much highly respected Arseblog starting to talk about the final nail in the coffin for Arsene, so soon, in the middle of the season. I have always respected you Mr. Blogs for being rational. It is sad to see even you loosing it at a very high time. Please remember, I am not someone who is completely behind Arsene. I am not someone who is even a part of the #WENGERIN or #WENGEROUT Brigade. You think I haven’t… Read more »
Get ready then, either Leicester or spuds will win the league We need Leicester to lose at least 3 games. At present we won’t win 3 We’re a disgrace for where this great club should be. We all wouldn’t be on here unless we loved this club, but to sit here in silence whilst this shit carries on? I say no sir! Not at all! There’s one man who’s ego and arrogance have got us here, he has stated he doesn’t listen to criticism. So if venting our frustrations help us the fans then by all means vent away. A… Read more »
Hear hear Indian Gooner!
The Season is over already. Don’t know what you are watching but we are pretty much not in the race for anything but a Champs league qualification spot so I wonder why you asked us to wait.
”I can’t fucking see a club like Tottenham go on to win the title ahead of us.” Reality is it looks like it’s gonna happen mate. At least it’s theirs to loose. We bottled our chances to go clear like we’ve always done.
Wake up sir, this is no longer the Arsenal of old.
It’s not the middle of the season though is it. It’s March and the season is almost over. The cl, fa cup and carling cup are gone. The league may not mathematically be gone. But a side that’s won 4 out of the last 14 isn’t going to go on a run of winning 9 in a row. Even then 9 wins in a row may not win it if Leicester don’t falter. Calm down you haven’t really suffered. It’s football. I know it’s important to everyone on here but some people need to tone it down. The whole ‘get… Read more »
I upvoted your comment vnjvnjv, but your singling out ‘online fans living thousands of miles away’ isn’t fair really. Sure you must’ve spent thousands of pounds to watch the games, but you probably also know that TV money is a big part of the club’s income and it comes from many parts of the world. I am a Stateside gooner and pay for cable ONLY to watch EPL football (where I was born, its football 🙂 ). I don’t agree with anyone slagging you off, but I hope you understand that while we live miles away, we still love the… Read more »
Exactly, I probably spend a thousand pounds even if I only get to see them 4-5 times a season because I don’t live in London anymore, so my opinion counts less now? Whilst I agree and disagree with some parts of the previous posts, one thing I 100% agree with is the fact that judgement should be passed at the end of the season. There is no doubt that for the past month the players have been aware that any mistake is going to be like a bomb being set off in the fan base. It’s just adding so much… Read more »
Dortmund also changed their manager which is the biggest reason why they’re backing firing. They also won the league in 2011 and 2012.
We haven’t seen the same players crumble under pressure every season. It’s been 10 years of crumbling under pressure. So the playing personel has changed over the years
I disagree, dortmund were struggling because the team was readjusting to their change in personnel. The fans backed them until the team clicked. They still play the same way as they always have. I personally don’t believe the new boss has done more than Klopp could’ve to motivate the players, but I guess we’ll never know. I think it’s just a shame we can’t do the same. All my non Arsenal supporting mates keep saying to me “Wenger has to go.” Why are they so keen? They crave the stability we have whilst we’re sick of it. United, Liverpool, Tottenham… Read more »
I’m not that arsed about the foreign fans. It’s just the attitude that when things start to go wrong every spring people try to deflect and slag off the fans. These people pay thousands evey season on our club but to get some fans who have never been to the ground tell then that they’re the problem, tell them how to support the team is a joke.
You are having a go at fans worldwide for having an opinion? You might be paying a few bucks more but that does not give you the right to ridicule our opinion. Us fans stay up till 4 in the morning with office or college next day to watch this team. The reason epl is so successful is because its global popularity. TV companies like sky etc sell the rights in different countries to generate revenue. Similarly the reason Arsenal is such a big club is because of its supporters worldwide. Take them away and you are no bigger than… Read more »
I’m having a go at the foreign fans. I’m having a go at fans telling people how they should support the club. The fans like indiangooner who think fans that pay thousands every year are the problem.
The fans in the stadium can influence the game but even before the game turned yesterday so many in front of me sat in silence – why the f… go?Give up your seat so someone who will back the team and SUPPORT.I can appreciate the frustration of the likes of Indian Gooner and our overseas friends.
There were certainly a lot of season ticket holders who opted out – very few familiar facers around me yesterday. What a sad state we are in.
I’m not the guy who posted the comment but your comment is such a joke. “I’m having a go at the foreign fans.” That is exactly what you’re doing. Do you think that every fan that has paid “thousands every season” agrees with what you’re saying? I, for one, doubt it. There were reports of a fight between the fans who pay “thousands every season” after the yesterday’s game as well. The fact remains that you are so angry at Wenger atm that you use whatever retorts you can against anyone who refuses to ride on your bandwagon, which varies… Read more »
To Indian_Gooner: I think he meant to say “I’m not having a go at the foreign fans”.
I obviously mean to write ‘I’m not having a go at the foreign fans’
THIS bollocks sums it all up. Arsenal are no bigger than Newcastle or Everton?? Because of you lot buying shirts and merchandise? Jog the fuck on, sums it all up. Arsenal were big before you, big before Wenger and will be big when you lot have chosen another “franchise”. As you say you chose Arsenal because of the way they play so if it had been a down period when you decided to “select” your side like in a fucking computer game it could have been anyone. Spurs, Chelski, the Mancs, anyone depending on the arbitrary factor of who played… Read more »
If your parents/family decided to live in Newcastle, you’d be a Newcastle supporter now. Am I right?
I spent a considerable amount of my first salary buying Arsenal jerseys for me and my brother. And the day I earn enough to go watch a match at the Emirates, believe me I will. But we can’t help if the club we love is a 1000 miles away. You might not agree with the guy, but don’t berate his passion for the club. That’s all I ask.
I’m not questipning his passion for the club. I think it’s stupid for him to slag off the fans. Act like they’re the problem. Tell them to fuck off for daring to believing that the manager should leave.
You obviously don’t need to justify your support for the club to a random stranger whining on the internet. The day Arsenal football Club starts thinking of us as second grade fans, who are not entitled to have an opinion is the day we will stop supporting the club. Not when an angry dude starts with the usual rhetoric of paying “thousands” or “fans living thousands of miles away”.
I don’t understand why you’re having a hissy fit. Arsenal couldn’t care less about any fan. We’re all just a pound sign to them. We all have free will, we’ll always entitled to an opinion. I’ve not written any close to foreign fans aren’t entitled to an opinion so i don’t know why you’re so angry. I’m not sure what I’ve written to get such a reaction form so many. It’s strange that so many on here slag off our match going fans to barely any reaction. But the moment someone has a slight dig at a foreign fan who’s… Read more »
Hear, hear. I cannot stand the “Get behind the boys” shit.
Nothing anyone types here has any impact on anything. Its just a way to keep the crushing banality of real life, kids, and paying the electric bill.
…at bay.
How did this suddenly appear at the top??
Well if you take out all of the “fucks” there is feeling in the post.
11 years eh?
…thumbed it down myself…;-)
In one sentence you say you are a life long gooner, yet you’ve only supported them 11 years…meaning your one of them who didn’t/doesn’t think arsenal existed before wenger came along?…And we’ll exist long after he finally fucks off and we get in someone capable of building a team who can compete ALL season for big titles
I sincerely admired your never-give-up-on-wenger attitude! Don’t feel as though you’re the only one to have suffered that 8:2 defeat because, to some of us, that was followed by some spectacularly godawful show ups. And indeed most of us live far away from London and the only real opportunity we got to cheer our club up was “fucked” up as you rightly put it. Your call is a right call at the right time. But do you seriously think the people (including Mr. Arseblog) is doing it for the fun of it? Beside the emotional attachment, huge monies are spent… Read more »
When our only tactic (in Arsene’s own words) is to keep it Nil Nil until 20 minutes from time then my Arsenal is in a sad fucking ebay.
Sad fucking way curse you autocorrect
kinda think the ebay analogy works tho… waiting around watching an auction do nothing till the last few minutes is exactly what my experience was watching the watford game…
I couldn’t agree more. ..AW is not just a manager, he is part of this club history, you are right to question the supporters role when we see our player unable to player in our own ground because fan are whinging and moaning. Let us accept the fact that the landscape in English football changed drastically, that’s why you see club with massive potentials unable to compete(city), manager who spent 300 million find his team sixth in the table(LVG), managers with exceptional reputation get the sack after leading the club to titles (Jose F..ing Mourinho)…and now we have Pepe G.… Read more »
“….and The only game I have watched live in my life was the game Arsenal took a 8-2 beating against United.” Hahahahahaha, unlucky chap.
The problems at Arsenal have been glaringly obvious for a good few seasons now. Every fan, pundit and Joe Soap on the street has been saying it for years, and every year we fail to address the problems. It took us about 8 years to bite the bullet and buy a great ‘keeper, why did it take us so long? We have been in desperate need of a world class striker, among other things, for years now. In fairness to Giroud, I like him and I think he’s a quality player, but he’s just not at the level we need… Read more »
Every year it’s the same excuses ,this was are year all the other big teams doing bad and struggling (transition).we have the same team the last three years ‘more or less’,we lose one player Santi cazola and are season falls apart ,Ramsey can’t play his roll he hasn’t got the dicepline or the passing range,I’m not saying he is a bad player if he played in ozils roll but ozil is much better.Wenger had to change his tactics to the loss of santi but just didn’t.he just Will never change he has to go but we,’re stuck with him.
I was going to post some relevant comment, but you’ve nailed it !
Pretty much. Same shit, different day.
Same shit different season Mate.
Same shit same decade.
The sameness
I disagree; Its not the same shit when Alexis does it!
Does anyone know who this was or is it not worth mentioning as it will add fuel to the inferno that already is?
It was Glen Helder.
Sadness in his eyes.
To be honest, I’m not feeling too disappointed today. I think I used up all of my disappointment that week we lost to Man United and Swansea.
Now it’s more apathy. It would have been nice to win the cup again, but it was only ever going to be a footnote in the main story of failing to win the league this season anyway.
Abject performance from a team that has no idea what kind of football it wants to play. Is it a possession based team, counter attacking or direct? I actually have no idea, apart from the fact that whatever it is, it’s rubbish. The manager has to take responsibility for that, he’s the one who sets us up tactically. But the desire and professionalism on the pitch is on the players. Several times you saw some of them feel hard done by or feel sorry for themselves. That’s on them. And on the whole, everything stems from how we are set… Read more »
Said player also called for an extraordinary meeting
Having already done that so recently, surely it would simply be an ordinary meeting? Maybe they could make it an extraordinary meeting again by wearing funny hats or something, I dunno….
I unliked your comment by accident I’m so sorry, please know I’m 100% pro funny hats
A meeting whose content Gabriel has so far been unable to comprehend because of his lack of English. Perhaps this explains everything.
in which it was decided unanimously to issue a statement that the team will now ‘learn from their mistakes!’
I can’t wait for ‘lessons learnt’ that’s a personal favourite
Or
Great spirit, desire and commitment. If I keep saying it maybe I’ll also begin to believe it
I wonder if the players want a new manager?
It’s a shame the manager hasn’t wanted more new players. 🙁
Just get the feeling our so called world class players dont want to play for Wenger any more and Demand a change
Let me at him, the bastard.
Reminds me of this from South Park https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTsDqIcpHUc&app=desktop
I was half-expecting Sarcasta-ball.
Do players at this level watch film of the previous game? The team just needs to watch this game, the Man U game, and the Swansea game on a loop to remind themselves what not to do.
I guess this time we’d have to get back to the basic’s basil’s basic’s basic’s basic’s basic’s basic’s basic’s basic!!!!!!!
We’re so confusing. It seems like the goals we concede are either incredibly soft or they’re absolute screamers! When the latter happens you can call it unlucky, but EVERY GAME we allow teams in with a chance to score. It feels like we’re an unlucky side who don’t like to make our own luck, or make life easy for ourselves… And that’s a pretty awful combo!
There is nothing unlucky about not closing down a guy 20 yards from goal.
I am sorry but tea stays longer in a cup than Arsenal.
This “Basic” bloke must be getting fed up with the team going back to his place all the time! 😉
I love watching Arsenal play but this season we simply have played shit football. Without Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky we are just an average team, not playing the Arsenal way. He could have bought Fabregas and continued playing our way but he decided to buy no one. Our strikers are not good enough, we don’t have a wide player who can score goals, our centre backs are too old, too slow or not good enough.
Fabregas is a fucking snake who is not to be trusted.
Funny, i was asking myself the same question watching the match against Hull, even though we won, and again today…..where is our beautiful, fast flowing attacking football?, the one we are known for playing?…the ‘arsenal way’? At least in the days of building the squad, fielding, what then were youngsters (fabregas, nasri rvp, etc)…they did get beaten quite a few times, but at least they go down playing beautiful football!…..probably why i can’t remember myself ever getting this upset in their time. They do get beat like this lot, yes, but they put a smile on your face the way… Read more »
Those idiots should apologise to Mesut for being well below his level
Fuck all this Mesut is too good for us bullshit, he was on the pitch and he was just as shit if not shitter than most of the players out there.
A lot of fans are blind to the fact that Mr Ozil is a big part of our problem. He is an arrogant, petulant player who gives up when things don’t go his way, and that has been way too often recently.
I’m scared. We’re crap!
It’s not the BFG who has over 100 caps. I wonder who this mysterious player is? Let’s see tomorrow morning!
BFG 104 caps.
Jogging or maybe yoggung, I think it’s a soft J.
Current crop remembered for writing apologies not history …..time for a change ..
lol…
I see the Gunners overcome all this and beat FCB in the Champions League and advance. After that every gooner on the planet will be happy again.
Before that one gooner on the planet is dreaming again. Buddy, what is required is 3-0, 4-2 etc and our leaking defence will be facing the MSN attack.
This guys are full of shit
At the end of the day lads it’s just a game. You win some you lose some.
As a fan I loathe to hear such shit.
I feel for these players. This is akin to the story of a dad encouraging his feeble 7 years old to pick up a fight with the local bullies: Don’t fear them son, they might look stronger than you, are muscular and out number you, but you have mental strength. You can do it, go son… We all know how such a story will end. We need change at the club, and to all those who will give me the Man united example, please save your arguments for another day. United might have wasted loads of money, gone through the… Read more »
Little r cries little tears
We went to pieces when Santi got injured.
Spot on. But again we rely on individuals and when they are injured we are broken as a team. If someone gets injured, the collective must step up. Simple stuff. And possession football needs to die in Arsenal. We can’t do it with a squad that can’t muster belief in themselves – they don’t believe in themselves and even less so in their team mates. Play simple, tactical and planned football (PLAN – AKA prepare for each team on it’s own merits). Lots of teams have used it against us this season. I would really love to see what goes… Read more »

The same player then waxed lyrical about how the manager gave them a withering hairdrier at the break. He the signed off by saying, in depressing monotone, how the season is not yet gone, how everyone drop points, how they will reel in Leicester city in no time and how, most importantly, each game will be taken as a cup final
What I want to see this summer. Goodbye Walcott. I’m sorry but someone with that paycheck should justify it. Hello Cavani. Many might disagree with me but I am a very strong believer that Cavani is our guy. I want him playing central and latching onto everything Ozil puts in on slides in. I miss Koscielney :`( We need another winger, I really like Jesse Rodriguez but he seems like a long-term Madrid prospect. I want Ozil I think he would be an awesome replacement for Santi since I believe Santi is getting past his peak. Yes it’s a crazy… Read more »
Why do the last ten minutes of all arsenal games give me hypertension I think that Watford proved how when all these small teams get more money and they get some decent players (mind u I don’t mean world class I mean just good players), well it all just shows u how very very average most of the arsenal team is. You really feel like many young players too who were showing so much potential have lost their shine. Makes me feel very old when people talk about supporting the club for only fourteen years 😉
I’ve been chillin since the manchester utd game at old trafford
Life’s been real easy ever since I stopped expecting things out of Arsenal. I still watch all the games though
The club is a mess…….
Not financially, not where we are in the league either ,but the heart and soul has been ripped apart. Shocking but we can all feel it
Arsene has to go but who comes in?
Frightening.
I wish people would chill out. Would you rather have Chelsea’s season?
If we won the league last seaon like chelsea did, trust me, most arsenal fans would not be as angry if we end up having a season like chelsea”s now
Turtleslacker and his little brother (Gollum Chambers) are slow, tactically inept, and technically inferior. Mert is lucky if he is able to get 2 centimeters off the ground. We have lost many games because of Mert. The reason the German National team pulled him at the end of the WC was because he was a liability. When Gabriel first arrived, he played fairly well. Lately, he has totally lost his way and cannot be counted on. I would rather see Koz and Monreal play in the center with Gibbs and Bellerin. No more Mert, Gab, or Mert’s little brother. I… Read more »
Wow. Name calling our clubs players who – lets face it – are doing their best? What actually is a farce is the level of ignorance and cruelty some fraction of the fan base shows. And writing shit about our own players, well, that is sinking very, very low. Even James Cameron wouldn’t find you. Sure, it’s easy to give blame to the defenders when losing. But the problem this season isn’t the amount of conceded goals, it’s the severe inefficiency shown by our strikers. We have scored, on average, 20 goals less this season, then the previous 10 (or… Read more »
Yeah, he was offside, by the whiskers of his beard maybe. Perhaps he needs to shave it now, try something new…
Just a bit curious to know what happened to Wenger’s revolutionary training sessions? When he first came in, every player said it was revolutionary but now it seems ancient and decrepit.
I think part of the reason we keep getting injuries is because of this too. Whilst the stadium has been upgraded, our training ground facilities have not been and so we cannot potential injuries when they are on the verge of happening.
Truth be said. Alexis is trying toooo fucking hard. Impossible stunts when that pass is waiting. He’s well below his level. Maybe needs rest. I love hating what Gabriel was doing behind Igirlo for the first goal. And Chambers was crap. Am sorry Theo…last time i saw him i think it was on a substitution board. China Premier League stuff theo
The worst is, the same mistake keeps happening for 11yrs …. going to 12yrs now … We arsenal fans need a new direction …. We even need a new chairman….
At this point there is nothing new to say, can’t even get anymore angrier. All emotions are exhausted. It wasn’t going to be easy winning the FA Cup 3 times in a row, we all knew that. but to go out like we did against Waterford at Home isn’t acceptable at all. We should be better than that, no matter what the manager says. yes football results depend on luck a lot, (like Payet not shown a second yellow for diving and scoring the free kick and Shweingsteiggerere foul on West ham keeper before they scored) the point is you… Read more »
