Arsenal 2016 – it’s like being so ill you don’t know whether to throw up or blast a torrent of hot lava diarrhea into the toilet bowl, all the while worrying you might do both at the same time.
A dismal 0-0 draw with Sunderland today means we remain in 4th spot. Here’s how the players rated.
Ugh
I literally fell asleep watching. 10/10 lullaby
Wenger has lost the plot. Plays Ramsey, who is truly god awful. Adds nothing to the game, loses the ball all the time and slows down the play. Positionally clueless. When he passes forward it normally goes to the opposition, when he does find an arsenal player the pass is generally back to the keeper or to our the defenders. Great.. Welbeck adds much more than Giroud and Walcott should have started. Wenger has ended Walcott’s career due to mismanagement. A tremendous talent squandered. Klopp is interested in Walcott, he will show everyone how to show a player appreciation and… Read more »
Agree. Walcott is an excellent player. Maybe not Messi or Ronaldo. But up there if managed properly. It’s a shame about the way Arsenal have treated him
Yeah, Arsenal have treated him appallingly, paying him millions of pounds every year for 10 years.
To be fair. All premier league players are highly paid. He would get more game time away from Arsenal
To earlier comments re Walcott (website reply system not working for me…) it’s true he is not world class or anywhere close but he has suffered so much from Wenger’s abdication style management – ‘ooh should he be a winger or a striker?’ You decide Arsene. ‘yes he should go to wc aged 16’ You sure Arsene? Anyone could have spotted years ago that all teams defend deep against Arsenal. Sell him and buy a striker who can play one touch and is quick in the box to exploit that tactic. Yes he might do better for say Everton but… Read more »
can u take out the amount Arsenal has paid Theo Walcott for the past few years .
If anyone missed it, here is a clip of the cowardly Walcott…..

Enjoy this week’s £140k you mug.
This is one of the things that makes a manager decide for good that you must go. Made me remember when Denilson started chasing Drogba in a counter attack and then decided in our own half to stop chasing him. Drogba went and scored the goal. To me, that was when Wenger decided Denilson must go.
Theo’s bottle went on that chance today. It was his ball but he didn’t fancy it. Maybe it’s down to the injuries he’s sustained, maybe it’s just his DNA but either way, it’s not good enough. It’s not just him I’m sorry to say, that attitude runs throughout a large percentage of those now representing us. You can’t blame Kronke for that. This season’s proven that money’s not the not the only commodity that wins championships. A few years ago there was an incident at the Emirates after a game with Spurs. One of their supporters was up in the… Read more »
Andrew, if you could also give the manager a rating for each match, what do you think would be Arsene Wenger’s average rating over the past decade?Leave aside the fact that he built the Emirates Stadium with his own hands and kept us in the top four year after year with a wage bill the size of Leicester’s
Blogs what you think ?our biggest failing of season has been and before I start I say (I have shouted at Theo to back track myself but) Walcott has best conversion rate of our strikers- I looked them up after man Utd defeat to see what problems was . Walcotts conversion rate was 48% nearly one goal for two shots. Logically if we could have found a way of making this work tactically there is the answer. Giroud was 18%. Campbell 28% Sanchez 25%. Welbeck was 54% but had only played two games Leicester and man Utd ( will now… Read more »
Theo isn’t world class. But certainly a very good player, he wouldn’t be capped so many times for England if he wasn’t quality. He needs to be played in the right position and to his strengths. Look at the Chelsea game and Newcastle games in previously years, defenders were scared of him. A man manager like Klopp will bring back his confidence.
Yeah, because England caps are so hard to earn.
What is this? Where am I? What happened?
When did Theo become the picked on hero? When did this opinion change?
And when did England caps become any indication of the quality of a player?
No other top manager would’ve been this patient with such a limited player like Theo; who’s sole strength is to face a team that give him space behind to run into.
The only player that should have any grievance in regards to treatment is Campbell.
Sad that Theo is this season’s scapegoat!
He’s obviously not the problem, but don’t left facts get in the way of a good story.
Finishing 5th might not be too bad, and if we end up there it would be no less than we deserve. See u in August. Season done
Get out while you can Joel !
Someone please explain to Kroenke that this isn’t American football where you start throwing games after you’d made a mess of the season in order to get a higher draft pick. Here, it actually hurts you to start mailing it in. Settling for a CL spot is not good enough but we are to the point where we have to fight to get that and I’m not sure they have any fight left in them. I know I’m losing mine as a supporter. Maybe it’s just what we need. A slice of humble, Europa League pie to get our team… Read more »
Walcott? World class?! Has a bit of talent but the mental side of his game is appalling. No fight whatsoever, summed up by him shying away from that challenge today. Absolutely embarrassing! Hides away during moments when he is really needed and generally just looks like a bit of a lost pup. Could’ve cried when I saw him coming on today with Campbell still sat on the bench! Would be delighted if this is the last we see of him in an Arsenal shirt tbh.
Seriously? If anything it’s Joel Campbell who’s being mismanaged. I don’t really see how his hard work on the pitch has warranted him being dropped. Sure Iwobi has had flashes of class, but Joel has been consistent…
Ok. I know we are all bored/upset/resigned but you need to calm yourself down. Theodore Walcott has been at Arsenal for 10 years and at no point could anyone have realistically called him World Class. Truth is that his one attribute, pace, is fading or at least becoming less relevant. He is a player who can do well when the ball is played in behind the full back but that is it. He cannot beat a man on the dribble, cannot play with his back to goal, is terrible in the air and, apart from one tackle tracking back against… Read more »
This.
Pace is becoming less relevant? Jamie Vardy’s pace is about to win Leicester the league!
Name the last time Walcott actually got behind a defender and got a shot off?
I honestly can’t remember.
Sorry, didn’t mean to come across as defending Walcott – he’s awful
One of the biggest criticisms of Wenger has been that he doesn’t put players in their “natural position”. This is true, but only to a point. Great players make their positions, not the other way around. It seems to me that if you are a player of outstanding quality, you adapt to that role. Ramsey and Walcott aren’t being played out of position, they simply aren’t good enough to rise to the challenge. The best players adapt and make a statement where ever they are placed. Hypothetically speaking, if our central defenders were injured and you asked a player like… Read more »
Wow, this is really tough: I completely agree with your assessment of Ramsey (at least this year and a fair chunk of last, when he’s really, really regressed), but completely disagree about Theo, who, if it weren’t for his pace, wouldn’t even be a Premier League level footballer (and yet has been on our books for 10 years, and is on 140k a week???!!?). So is that a thumbs up or thumbs down for your comment??
is this you Theo?
Is that you, Theo?
Errr …. No!
You lost me at ‘Walcott is world class’…
Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the Arseblog comment section, I’m delighted to welcome Theo Walcott to the forum.
Sigh
Everyone meh, but at least alexis was trying. I stopped watching when iwobi came off for Walcott and Ramsey was still playing. What does Campbell have to do?
Be French. That’s what Campbell has to do obviously…
What’s the odds Ramsey starts in next game. Need a complete overall starting with the manager and taking Ramsey Theo Giroud flamini Arteta rosicky (sadly) per Gabriel chambers and probably couple more as well, I’m losing the will to live so will stop there
Ramsey’s decision making is terrible, his technique is average, he is selfish in the box. I remember we were on the break, Ramsey took 6-7 touches, looked up and passed straight to Sunderland player in front of him. Horrible! I’d start Wilshere who isn’t match fit over Ramsey. Ramsey needs to be sold this summer without question. If Wenger really thinks Ramsey can play for Arsenal as a CM and Theo keeps getting ahead of Campbell, I won’t be averse to seeing a change of manager. I’m a massive Wenger fan and supporter but if the team isn’t being picked… Read more »
Best bonus rating ever…
One of the most depressing ends to a season I can remember. Back during the trophy drought we were as shit as we are now but at least we were mostly quite entertaining to watch. Horrifically ponderous in attack at times today.
Ramsey! I just can’t phantom why he gets a start all the time.
Site is more bollixed than Arsenal?
Theo? Is that you?
Feels like this was the players instructions
If you don’t get 1st place fuck yourselves up and finish fourth.
Ramsey had a poor performance? What? I am truly shocked… Also bonus points to the guy who called Ramsey being shoehorned into the team once he’s fit, a month ago. Well done.
Wenger needs to stop playing players out of position – like Ramsey – then their career goes down the toilet and we the fans berate them for it!!! Wenger needs to retire in three games time
Bit generous with them marks. If I’m honest the first half wasn’t all that bad but the second half was dreadful. Watching Leicester now the difference in passion, determination and fight is embarrassing.
Bright side fuck off spuds it ain’t going to happen.
Sad we couldn’t take advantage of Mannone’s assist.
United now 5 behind and game in hand. I think we end up 5th folks. If so I hope Arsene will walk. If we do then I expect us to lose Sanchez and Ozil as well. Sad days at the moment supporting my beloved team.
I’m past the point of getting pissed at us not winning the title, that moment came as early as the Southampton, Swansea and United games in sequence. But over the remainder of the season I just realized how we’ve completely lost our footballing philosophy altogether. We’re neither a solid defensive team nor are we that exciting attacking team we think we are. We don’t contain teams and hit them on the counter, we don’t make good use of our posession, it’s all pointless possession play and leaving us absolutely fragile to the counter. And that really is alarming. Getting players… Read more »
Wenger needs to realise he’s holding the club back and help the club plan for a successor.
The problem is I dont care anymore. Iwobo was good, and its great to see jack back, but the rest of the team were appalling. How slow and predictable is our build up. Even Sanchez running into cul de sacs, Ramsey giving the ball away and giroud… Omg giroud…. 4th place not guaranteed…. Very unhappy
Need a total overhaul of the players. We have been praising a lot of players in the past that are quite average and I think the Praise has gotten to their heads i.e. Ramsey. Wenger needs to be ruthless and change us back to a counter attacking team we used to be during the invisible era hope Wenger still has the blueprint for that
Smells Like Wenger Spirit!
Walcott jump over the ball that the hell did he come on the the pitch for.
Campbell is on the bench and walcott came on, wenger need to have his head examine.
Come on Peter B, if Walcott was world class he would`t be at Arsenal, you know that 😉
Arsene apologists, where are you?
Your silence is deafening!
I would imagine that most people don’t just pick an agenda and blindly stick to it like it is part of their identity or sense of self.
Instead, I would wager that people are a bit more reflexive than that and use context and logic to decide whether or not Wenger can be the manager to steer us through. Mostly probably now reaching a stage of reluctant acceptance, but still retaining respect for a guy that has done so much.
But, you know… grrrrr
It’s not a case of being an apologist for me, I just want to see a bit more posivitivity from the support. Feels like Arsenal fans have lost the plot a bit. The comments on here have been weird for a while now. Theo’s been dog shit most of this season, but he’s hardly played recently, an yet about 60% of comments seem to be about him. I’ll never stop appreciating what wengers done for us, but he’s lost the majority of the fans now so he probably needs to go.
12 points behind Leicester, who’s entire squad probably costs less than Ozil and Sanchez, but Wenger’s job isn’t under threat. Right.
While I was hoping for more of what we had against WBA it soon felt like more of the usual feeble shit. By the ten minute mark the game had established itself and trundled on like that. Shit, boring, weak, no confidence, no fight and much of nothing. Just as well I only watched in passing while taking care of household chores.
Ramsey’ s rating should be -2 . He is that useless !
I don’t think we can call it a clean sheet when Arsenal shit the bed.
Please Leave Arsene.
Please leave, for the love of Arsenal.
Campbell: 10/10 for patience
Remember our woeful game against the swans? Well Leicester are showing how it should be done!!!
How is Walcott still getting on before Campbell??? What is Wenger seeing that I’m not? Just look at when they came on in the west brim game, if you need a game changing Campbell’s gonna give you more
Iwobi’s rating is too high. He snuffed at a couple of really good chances. We’d be slaughtering the terrible Theo Walcott if he missed those chances.
Not sure what Campbell did to lose his spot…
ManURE could be 2 points behind us if they win their game in hand. How the hell did we let that lot catch up?
Overall, a really boring game…
We are going to loose at Man City and end up 5th behind Manure.
What a load of shite we are
I really think this season is having a poisonous effect on the development of Bellerin, Iwobi and the other starlets. Players like Theo and Giroud are there role models!!! I’ve been on a diet this week but fuck it in having pizza!!!!
Bonus rating: 10/10 for Leicester for looking like they are going to avoid the apocalypse of Spurs wining the league. God knows we haven’t done anything to prevent it.
The apocalyptic avoidance of Spuds not winning the league is still terrible due to them finishing above us. Mark my words, we’ll never hear the end of it.
Truly awful. Seemingly just going through the motions. Too slow in transition from defense to attack. Can someone please tell me what Giroud was doing on the pitch (other than keep falling over) He should have been put out of his misery at half time at the latest.
If I do not see Ramsey in Arsenal colours ever again I would be very happy. Arrogant player that brings nothing to the table. He is so decived it’s not funny. Arsene really got it wrong this season. He had hoped collective goals could push us through. He was wrong. His players are not as good as he thinks. I’m sure he understands cars very well. You can not expect a Toyota to perform at a BMW level.
I’ve had flu this week. It was more fun than this.
Ramsey had a decent game against west brom and didn’t do too badly in the 1st half today. Dont know why he lost his discipline and wandered aimlessly forward in the 2nd half when we were getting increasingly desperate for a goal because of which sunderland got plenty of chances. He needs to learn to maintain his discipline through out the 90 mins.
Also beller’s decision making in the final 3rd has been pretty poor in the last few games. He was very lucky today that we didn’t concede a goal/penalty because of his awful headed clearance.
He was awful in the first half what game were you watching.
There is no word to discribe the team at the moment. The only thing I would say is that a complete change is needed for the club. A change that needs some new set of players and a new manager. The boys are really not playing for Wenger. The team seemed not united. The game today highlighted a bit of it. There is no need to have people like Gorue, Wallcot and Ramsey in the team. Wenger is the problem!!!
First half was OK. Then, in the sexond half, we just don’t perform. Nobody drove the team forward. Iwobi gave the ball away or delayed passes more times than I cared to count. Alexis runs into dead ends.
At least Theo gave us some comical relief. Campbell could have given us a goal there.
We played on Thursday and Wenger picked the same line up. Why? Surely they were a little bit jaded aa? Ramsey is so useless and I can’t understand why he is in front of Coq? But I don’t think Giroud deserves that kind of stick by the fans. He wasn’t that bad. He set up couple good chances. Only Elneny today showed some desire and movement on the pitch. Giroud can’t cope with all four if nobody is helping him. It was more than clear that they were tired in the second half. Overall Per And Especially Koscielny did ok.… Read more »
How does Giroud keep getting played? Im gobsmacked, he offers nothing to this team. We are a massively attacking team that has a striker who struggles to reach 20 goals a season?
I have written a month back that Arsenal are back in the 4th place dogfight. Now I really fear for it. My feeling is that, players are not playing for the manager anymore. It’s evident that these spoilt millionaires can’t be arsed. Need a sergeant master to get these guys to do the basics well. Such a shame. Being a huge Wenger supporter I sense his empire is crumbling. The goodwill has eroded. Now the daggers will be out. To preserve his legacy he should bow out gracefully. The board needs to grow a pair of *****. God save the… Read more »
Funny seeing people saying our players aren’t good enough while Leicester beat Swansea 4-0 at home. It’s the not just the players, is it?
If we Wenger is not ruthless with the players during the summer, we will not win anything. I like to save money too but every once in a while I say fuck it, let’s spend some fucking money. The worst thing about it is he can spot talent. A complete overhaul needed.
If we lose one more game, even getting the 4th place would no more be in our hands. Wow! I can’t believe we could be this poor this year. Was just watching the Leicester vs Swans game and man, these guys are showing what it means to win the league. Cheating, diving, play-acting, pushing – they have done it all season. But the focus they show, I wish I wish we had that. Most of the time, so many of our players just don’t seem to give a fuck. Giroud and Ramsey has been consistently so poor that I don’t… Read more »
Feo FC and not Arsenal FC. we suck before the 70 min? Did we suck after the 70 minute? feo fault?
Feo was no worse than the rest of the players today, why single him out? Easy target, bunch of bullies you lot.
I recall getting a lot of thumbs down when I suggested Ramsey should always start with a handicap rating of -2……
And, somehow I thought the emergence of El Nenny would see Ramsey out of the first 11. I foolishly thought Wenger had seen the errors of his ways. Now, I am totally convinced Wenger is going to go down hanging to Ramsey’s shirtails.
