Mesut Ozil’s omission from the PFA Team of the Season has come as a surprise to Arsene Wenger.
The German playmaker has created more chances than any other player in the Premier League this season, and has the most assists, yet was left out of the fictional XI chosen by his fellow professionals.
Although Hector Bellerin made the line-up at right back, Ozil missed out. Probably because he doesn’t RUN AROOOOOUUUUUNNNDDD enough.
Speaking about the selection, the Arsenal manager said, “It’s a surprise for me. I cannot explain it, because it’s the players who vote. I don’t know why they did not pick him.
“When you are top of the assists, usually that’s a sign of quality that should get you a place in a top team.”
In reality though, it doesn’t mean anything. We know Ozil has been fantastic, and the least of our problems this season.
If the others can’t see that, there’s not much point getting stressed about it.

good at diving…I am never impressed watching him and actually think he’s a defensive liability for them. I remember watching one recent game and Rose gave away 3 penalties in one game (ref only called one of them). Sp*rs best players at the back are Lloris, the CBs, and Dier me thinks.

I’m really not sure if we can justify Monreal being in the side. Having said that, Rose is…Rose. I’m surprised Fuchs didn’t make the team.

Bellerin makes on the team but is not nominated for YPOTY. Ozil is nominated POTY but doesn’t make it on the team.
Admittably, most of the 6 players ahead of him probably merit their place in the list. Lukaku, Kane, Alli and Coutinho all entirely deserve their spot as far as I can tell. They’ve all been great/outstanding this season. Butland’s another one who’s done very well for his age, 10 clean sheets at Stoke is quite great (plus, the theatricality of his saves has definitely played a part in his selection, as it does with De Gea). I’m not sure what your point is. Carroll has not been first choice for most of this season, but I think Payet gets the nod because of the amount of spectacular goals he’s scored as well as creativity.
This is why most players don’t make it as managers.
