Wilshere involved in late night ‘drama’

Jack Wilshere has reportedly been involved in a late night fracas having been asked to leave a London nightclub.

The Mirror and The Sun say that the midfielder and some friends were ejected from Cafe de Paris following an incident with another customer.

A witness said: “One man grabbed another round the throat and punched him in the face. There were lots of witnesses and a lot of shouting. The guy who got hit had a neck tattoo.

It all moved outside, the police were called, people filmed stuff on their phones because that’s what people do these days.

Neither report suggests that Wilshere was in any way to blame for what happened, or that he was drinking or behaving badly himself.

Arsenal have said it was ‘a private matter’ and that Jack was not in breach of any club rules. It all sounds a bit storm in teacup, but he does have a worrying tendency to get involved in silly things. Nothing major, just stuff you should probably avoid if you’re a top-level footballer – especially if you’re coming back from injury.

Wilshere is earmarked to play in an U21 game this week, which hopefully will provide us with a more positive story.

I’d punch a guy with a neck tatoo as well.

Probably deserved what was coming. Just wish this story was separate to good Ol fiery Jackie boy.

Must have thrown the punch.

Oor Wullie

You’d punch a guy with a neck tattoo? You clearly have issues.

Heroldg

Most are tbf douchebags. “I’d be like you couldn’t put that shit somewhere else”….WHAM!

Oor Wullie

The irony of your comments clearly lost on you.

Tasmanian Jesus

And then you’d dance away like George Michael?

Muchadoaboutnot

Thumbs up! Only for your hilarious response. Hahaha!

Third Plebeian

You’d punch a hipster? Be kind to hipsters.

Snake in the grARSE

You’re an idiot

Arsene-al fan

If you are in a nightclub at 2 in the morning then incidents will happen.

Best not to be there if you have a high profile and history of other incidents, however innocent you actually are this time. And it is in the middle of the season as Jack is just making a comeback…

BalkanBoyGooner

Middle of the season? No need to fetch that far just to make point. Unless in your universe the season last 64 game rounds 😀

Arsene-al fan

True, though I just mean it isn’t in the summer when there are no more games to play.

GoonerInk

With the euros on the horizon is it not practically the middle of a european internationals season?

PodB

As long as he didn’t get injured all is well. Jack’s back.
Pity Southampton didn’t have as much punch up front against the runaway leaders. Hope we get 2nd

Greg

To be fair all cocks with neck tattoos need punching

Modhabobo

You’d think, what with the praise being heaped on Iwobi for his hard work, professionalism and commitment that it’d rub off on players like Wilshere , obviously not. I hate to say it, and as talented as Jack is, I don’t think he is someone you can build a team around. Or Walcott. The English players and their sense of entitlement and the financial rewards they receive so young skews them. In my opinion. This could just be gutter press peddling crap, but it always seems to be Wilshere. I wonder if Wenger takes him aside and points to TGSTEL… Read more »

Gooner_Al

You’re dead right.

I love Jack for the passion he shows on the field and the way he loves to play for the shirt. However, watching the video just shows he has no common sense. He’s stood there hiding behind a bin in an alley with a shirt over his head…! If he’s done nothing wrong just walk away. It’s just an all too familiar path like TGSTEL. He just needs to come back, stay fit and have headlines written about him for the correct reasons. Dumb!

Moscool

He can borrow Balotelli’s “why me” shirt!

BTW, neck tattoo? Isn’t Beckham spending lots of time around the Emirates these days? 😉

ger

Same on the pitch with Jack.
Hangs around too long on the ball and gets injured.

marcoo

Memories of a late night out at cafe de paris!!

Jack Wheelchair

Is Wilshere as stupid as he seems? He is due to make a comeback this week after 8 months out….so he stays out til 3am. Expect another ‘set back’ quite soon.

Rob67

This is what ? The fifth ? Sixth ? Seventh ? Similar incident he’s got himself involved in, in the last three years. I’d say he ‘s stupid enough to have a degree from the Bendtner school of science. He hasn’t played in a year. Is supposedly coming back from long term injury but can still find time to be tanked up to the eyeballs in a nightclub at 2.30 am. And if you read the story, several people say he was just that – skunk drunk. It shows a total lack of professionalism, a woeful disregard for his Club… Read more »

Rossi88

In his defence, who said he was ‘tanked up’?? So just because he playes football, he cant go out and enjoy life, on his day off as Arsenal have pointed out. Just because hes in a place where something happened doesnt mean he was involved at all. Everyone jumping on him when no one knows diddly squat. Jeez

dominic

I think he is arguably *more* stupid than he seems. However, he is very good at football so this lack of intelligence has less of an impact on his life.

Mpls

Ergo not enough effort to change it. Not enough necessity.
Dock his wages for a bit after every one of these -an increasing bit if necessary- and see what happens.

Fabulous

Thank you! Finally someone said it. I’ve mentioned previously that Gibbs undergoes a strict diet, yoga, and I would assume a lot of other forms of lifestyle to keep him fit. He was once a crock like Jack but these things helped him overcome the constant injuries. Same goes for players with great longevity, Bergkamp, Giggs, to name a few. One too many times now Jack has been caught in things you wouldn’t expect from a footballer and I’m not all surprised if his consistent injuries are a direct consequence of his lifestyle.

newxieland

When you’re paid $100k a week with nothing to do yeah… shit happens.

Flashmob

“…with doing nothing…”?
I suppose it isn’t that easy to have a realistic chance to play alongside folks like Alexis, Santi, Cech, Özil…

(Not an offense… just sayin’)

Knaus

Well he could be home with his family

Runkeball

So a family man can’t go out with his mates on occasion?

Bob Flannigon

So neither report says Jack had anything to do with it and the club says he didn’t break any rules? There was a fight at a night club that Jack happened to be at then? Worst nothing-story ever.

Brendan

Absolutely nothing story

ClockEndRider

Of course it is quite possible that the whole ruck in a club thing is a scum press put up job.
Easy to counter, though. Grow up and don’t go to clubs when you’re a high portfolio sportsman.

BalkanBoyGooner

And that’s very concise and to the point. Jack hasn’t grew up yet.
Too much money and too much fame for such a young lad. I thought he started getting a point after he replied maturely to criticism from Paul Scholes some 6 months ago but he is stil got some growing up to do.

Stewart Robson's therapist

Does anyone actually care? Wrong place at the wrong time, it sounds like. No crime. But of course the media will blow it out of all proportion. No doubt the phrase “role model” will crop up. Load of rubbish.

All we fans can do is respect our players’ right to a private life and reject the press’ bile. Looking forward to seeing you back on the pitch soon, Jack!

jimbo1

Perhaps the wrong place is a nightclub, at least for a top level athlete paid millions a year, and is just about to play a comeback game in the next few day. Arsenal should cash in and move him on.

Stewart Robson's therapist

It was a Sunday night. He doesn’t play till the following weekend at the earliest. Are you honestly suggesting he’ll take a week to get over a hangover – that is, if he’d even drunk that much?

Gooner_Al

Or, he could save it for the summer? You’re a few days from your comeback (after having set backs). Surely, keeping your head down is the best thing to do; drunk or not…

Stewart Robson's therapist

Well, I don’t disagree with that. But the reaction to all this has been wildly disproportionate.

George

Can’t believe he thinks it’s a good idea to be out at 3am at such a crucial point in his personal season. I love him but he doesn’t half make it hard for himself sometimes. Come on, Jack.

Stewart Robson's therapist

Oh come on, it won’t kill him.

Arsene-al fan

Ask Bendtner.

NorthernGooner

Of course it won’t kill him…it will only just kill his career

Fabulous

The few pints on this occasion won’t kill him, that’s for sure. But the numerous times he’s caught doing things detrimental to his fitness & health is pretty damn high it can almost be classified as habitual. Factor that into his career as a footballer and frankly you won’t get much out of it. Sure Jack’s talented and he works hard no denying that. But what sets players like Messi and Ronaldo, Sanchez apart? Those players live and breathe football, most decisions they make will certainly have their careers weighed in.

Chrispy

Get him fit and then flog him. Classless chav.
‘Remember who you are, what you are and what you represent’. Let that sink in for while, jackyboy.

Dale Cooper

Pretty sure a lot of Rocky’s team mates were out doing the same thing back then.

Still, different times now though, I guess.

Naija Gunner

Bad idea in my opinion, from Jack.

Chris

Not the fire\st time, won’t be the last. Another waster who would rather be on the drink than playing for Arsenal. Sell! Sell! Sell!.

Alex

Who cares? Jack can drink, smoke, fight… Wenger will bring him in immediately when fit… to the expense of the team… but hey, England’s team has to get prepared for the Euro!

goonero

He’s a silly boy our Jack. I’d imagined all the charitable work and fatherhood would have calmed him some but then I’ve always loved his fighting spirit…let’s keep it to the pitch though Jacky.

DurhamGooner

With everyone fit Jack doesn’t make our starting 11. Focus on that Jack.

Clock-End Mike

I can remember a couple of years back, when he was hitting the headlines on the field for Arsenal and England, fans were touting Jack as a “future Arsenal captain”!

Ain’t gonna happen…

Fool of a Took

Never understood the risk some players take.

You are recognised whereveryou go and you WILL get judged by the way you take care of your body. You have been out injured for ages and the same week you´re making the big come back, you decide to go to a nightclub.

Is he mentally challenged or does he belive in his own myth?

Anup

So that means you should spend every minute of your time couped up at the gym or in training? Come off it. Did you even watch the video? How many ‘fans’ kept saying “Don’t get knicked Jack”. Footballers are human beings, and should be treated as such. When they go out in public, just imagine the kind of rubbish fans say to them – especially what Sp*rs fans would say to him.
I think we as football fans need to look at ourselves first instead of taking part in this ‘blame’ culture that has swept through our game.

Nic

Afraid to say it but Jack’s biggest problem is between his ears.

WestSideGooner

He isn’t a role model for the kids. But, he definitely is an aggressive character we miss on the field

Nic

He is too thick to realize the message this puts out while he should be working extra hard to get back in the Arsenal and England squads. Fans get on Rambo, BFG and Flamini’s backs while Jack gets off every time.

jason

I still like Jack but i believe hes lost focus so much potential but how many injuries is it going to take for him to lose it all together… perhaps hes lashing out he absolutely loves Arsenal must really piss him off to see his career go down the drain when in the begining it showed so much promise

D

I went Café de Paris once last year and saw Wilshere and Shelvey there. It was over priced bollocks. £5 for a beer.

MyGee

I have to ask you though.. is a fiver too much for a bottle of lager in a nightclub?? I dont know but even regular pubs where I go charge more less the same.. dont know maybe I live in a different London

Mpls

Had high hopes for Wilshere, but silly isn’t enough to explain it.
Just being in those situations is flat out disappointing.

Get your priorities straight, lad.

Stewart Robson's therapist

The fans who are lashing out at Jack are only doing exactly what the media want them to do. Without conflict, they haven’t got a story. They know this and they have twisted and overblown this incident to make it seem the worst possible and encourage them into outrage. The reality is he did nothing wrong. Don’t fall for this. Let the only story the vindictive mainstream press have to publish be one of supporter solidarity. Jack Wilshere is a supreme talent and nothing he has ever done on the pitch suggests anything less than full commitment. He can count… Read more »

I am not English. I am tired of Jack Wilshere.

Also, this place looks like a fucking nightmare:

Timothy Lumsden

Jacks probably bored. Why don’t we get him out on the pitch before every remaining game. Liven up the crowd. Show some proper spirit.

Timothy Lumsden

He can ask us all what we think of Tottenham.

Vonnie

Looks like he chose the wrong team, the way he behaves he’d fit in nicely at Tottenham.

Merlin's Panini

Jack really needs to grow up fast. He’s got a bloody kid for fucks sake.
Great player but can be a total nob end sometimes.

Jake

He’s got two kids but left the partner he had them with and is now with some 18/19 year old who’s the daughter of his barber. Don’t really care to pass moral judgement but when you’ve got a footballer who’s paid 80K quid a week and hasn’t played a competitive match this season you’d think the week he makes his return to full training he’d be focused on getting fully match fit ASAP to salvage something from this season for him – hanging about at night clubs at 215am and boozing isn’t going to help that cause most likely. This… Read more »

John C

At what point does the hassle not become worth it with Jack? I would suggest we’re close to it, but i think as well as his off the field antics his wages and injury record would put anyone off a bid. Plus what the hell is he doing in Leicester Square?!? The guy gets paid ten’s of thousands of pounds a week and thats the best he can come up with?! There are plenty of places he could go on a Sunday night in Central London where there would be almost no chance of that kind of thing happening, be… Read more »

Cracked

A couple of Friends of mine were actually there. From what I understand there were other Arsenal players out in that club, but trust Wilshere to get involved.

Anup

Converse to popular opinion, I can actually understand why Jack went out after returning to first team training. Perhaps his friends and he wanted to celebrate the fact that he was now on the last stretch to playing first team football. This is completely and wholly understandable.

What isn’t understandable is going out with people who you know will always make the situation worse. Footballers by definition seem to be easily influenced by those around them.
Perhaps his problem isn’t making bad decisions, it’s simply deciding which ‘hangers-on’ he should keep around him.

Jake

The definition of bad decision would be to DECIDE to surround yourself with the wrong type of people if that really was the case no? How can you say his problem isn’t making bad decisions, its deciding to hang out with the wrong people time after time? And also I don’t disagree with you – definitely celebrate the fact that you’re back, have a few glasses of wine with dinner with your GF, your friends, family. But being out at 230am and getting involved in nonsense like this is beyond that, not sure I can agree with you that its… Read more »

Anup

I agree but I don’t know how to fully explain what I mean, I’m of the opinion that footballers are very fragile psychologically at times and need the support of their childhood friends, which is why I think it’s not entirely a CONSCIOUS decision of theirs to hang around with certain friends who might be a bad influence. Completely agree it could be a bad decision and seems as such, but I think he’s helpless when it comes to choosing whether to trust his childhood friends or not. Having said that you are right, he must make a tough call… Read more »

Give me the chance to play professional footbal with massive wages and I’ll never go anywhere except trainings. And groceries. Petshop. Because Ozil and Alexis and I can be pet buddies.

meletios

I was going to post a big rant but posters before me have pretty much covered all angles.

Jack’s legs/ankle are wobbly enough,
dont think there is any need to add alcochol/lack of rest for an extra wobble.
