Aaron Ramsey says he feels for Danny Welbeck, whose 9 month absence through injury was confirmed yesterday.
The striker will miss the European Championships, and the Welshman, having experienced his own injury hell in the past, feels for his teammate.
“I’ve spoken to him and he’s very disappointed, gutted,” he told Sky Sports.
“He was in good shape, good form, he had a great opportunity to show what he could do for England in the summer.
“I’m gutted for him as well, but I’m sure he’ll come back from it stronger, and I hope he has a speedy recovery.”
Asked about Arsenal’s season, Ramsey said that finishing above the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd would normally see the Gunners topping the table.
“That’s what’s been so frustrating this season,” he continued. “It feels like a missed opportunity, but we are where are we are, we have to accept that and full credit to Leicester for finishing the job.
“I’m sure we’ll be back stronger next season and hopefully we can show that to everybody.”
I have been feeling frustrated because of you Ramsey.
Highly talented player with some exceptional qualities ( Not a lot of players in the world can finish like he did against the Spurs this season ) but just doesn’t have the right attitude I believe.
I just sincerely hope he doesn’t waste his talent.
Earlier he didn’t perform his defensive duties as a midfielder properly but scored goals on a regular basis.
Off late even the goals have dried up.
I like carrots, they’re awfully nice.
I think if we sign Xhaka, Morata and Mikhitarian we are going to be world beaters…
But that happened in my dream….
Had faith on you when you blossomed 2 season ago, respected you for all you did and how hard you tried. But, last two season you have been utterly disappointing. And you once said you would love to feel the atmosphere at barcelona. That went into you head, you became more selfish, went into box too much, left our game too exposed, i once had to figure out were you striker or a midfielder. Stick to your basic and hopefully you will shine this season or its bye bye, atleast from my side !! We want team player , not… Read more »
What’s with people referring to Ramsey in the 2nd person? Imagine feeling so self-important that you imagine you’re writing an open letter to a footballer…in a comments section.
Is that you Ramsey?
Any mention or self awareness in regards to his own performance?
I hate it when players do that; they constantly pipe up to anyone nearby with a mic or pen about who they should be playing in their particular favourite position as its what’s best for them and the club.
But when they don’t perform to the standard their mouth can’t cash, they don’t say a word.
Theo is a master at that.
Enough of this. For the love of god.
Tbf he wasn’t asked about his own performances.
how is this relevant to the article?
Ramsey was talking about Welbeck. Then he was asked about Arsenal’s season.
I’m not convinced Rambo really gives that much of a shit if we win or lose. He is a very useful player, excellent at times, but capable of throwing in very average stretches as well. What bothers me is that I don’t see a whole lot of fire in him. We took the piss out of spuds when they lost the plot against Chelsea…but at least they went down kicking and screaming. We go out with a whimper and Rambo would be one of those I’d point the finger at for that.
Okay that is probably the biggest absolute load of bs I’ve heard as far as criticism goes. To fault ramsey for effort is like calling theo a workhorse and an all-round contributor. I’ll be the first to criticize Aaron ramsey for his lack of positional discipline, but tell me where you see ‘the very average streches’. You don’t see a whole lot of fire? What the effing eff? What did you want him to do? He tackles and presses and runs and runs and runs, frequently the highest distance covered in our team. He works hard when we do not… Read more »
I didn’t and wouldn’t ever criticise Rambo’s workrate. This is a totally different thing. What I’m talking about is absolutely hating to lose. It’s breaking your bollix because that feeling hurts so much that you’ll do whatever to stop it from happening. Adams, Keown, Vieira, Petit, Henry, Lehmann….we’ve had plenty of examples of it down the years….Lads who put themselves on the line to get three points every week. Ramsey will go box to box and back again for 90 minutes and clock up more metres than anyone else on the park, but that’s not what I’m talking about. It’s… Read more »
Ramsey is such an enigma with the Arsenal fans. Some make him out to be the worst player to put on an Arsenal jersey, probably putting the 13-14 season as the benchmark. Others think he’s actually good, and I’m frankly slightly leaning on this side of the fence (his form in 13-14 being my rationale). I think it’s the system that’s hurting him more than anything, since Arteta there really is no one at the club who controls tempo very well and having good defensive awareness. Which makes Ramsey at CM a potential train wreck, so playing him on the… Read more »
Agree totally. He is a good player but not used to his strengths in the current formation (probably because wenger adapted the team to make ozil a central player in the no10 role). Would like to see him in a 3- man midfield in 4-3-3. Think he has been pretty defensively disciplined during the 2nd half of the season, also why the goals have dried up. Can’t remember him being in the opposition box taking shots in a long while which he ideally should be doing, just not in his current role. Still was really good at RW in the… Read more »
I find it crazy that people don’t see how lucky we are to have him and how important he is to us. We have no one else with his athleticism and energy in the midfield.
the usual pre-prepared bullshit from another player who needs to step up a level next season… wouldn’t it be great if, occasionally they sat down with a jouro and told it for real , unrehearsed… they are terrified of doing it, yet we would love and respect them more for doing so
Ramsey is an exceptional talent, hardworking energetic robust and intelligent! But only lacking positional awareness of late, neglecting his defensive duties and dashing forward even beyond Giroud sometimes. Otherwise he is Avery important player for us! Fighter! RAMBO!?
Ramsey is a brilliant player. You don’t have a season like 13-14 by accident. If he hasn’t done it since, it’s because Wenger doesn’t know where to play him. Any club without Özil would be building their team around Ramsey. If we lose him, we will rue the day.
